Erin is what they call a phase 1 student. She did a great job. I was very concerned about the lack of instructors at this school. They had 3 instructors and more students then you could count. I have been to the one in Wichita a few years back and they were amazing! Instructors were continually stopping by and asking stylist questions (at least 5 stopped by to ask her questions). In Springfield MO, I didnt see an instructor till the hair cut was over. Just thankful Erin did a great job with no supervision.

Scheduled an appointment same day. Told me they had a person and a room available and it sounded all good. I arrived five minutes early and then had to wait 20 minutes before I even saw the person to do the facial. I was told that her lateness was due to her having to set up the room. The facial room was a converted emergency door hallway with a bright ceiling light right above my head. I asked if it could be turned down, there is no way any normal person could lay there for an hour with that in their face. She said unfortunately no. I then asked if I could have a refund and just reschedule. By then it was 25 minutes into my 60 min facial and she had not even started. The WORST part was hands down the lady at the desk who I am assuming is a teacher. When asked why I wanted a refund I said it was due to the lateness of the person doing the facial and light. Her response was the late time was because they were trying to adjust the light to make me comfortable. Um, that took all of two minutes what happened to the other 23minutes. She then commented that “you know they had to squeeze me in” um no you told me you had an open slot. Don’t blame the customer if you give poor business. You didn’t have to say their was an open time slot. I hope the students don’t learn how to treat customers the way that teacher did - they will have no business.

Ive been going here for years, and they never disappoint! The students are all very knowledgable and always double check everything. I also love the paul mitchell products.

This school/salon is fantastic!Covid-19 Safety: They have a masking policy, & limit the number of people within the building, if they arent being helped. Decent measures being taken for the Pandemic.Staff: Everyone I spoke with, were friendly & professional. A very good bunch of people.Building: The place is maintained well, & spacious (for those who dont like to feel boxed in). Apart from that, a fairly typical salon feel is implemented here. Their Mens restroom was clean also.Cost: I didnt pay attention to all of their prices for all of their services, but what I ended up paying for myself & one other person, was quite reasonable!Synopsis: A great place for a cut/style, while helping hair students on the road to learning their craft. Give it a try! I doubt youll be disappointed.10/10 Looking good.

Decided to get my hair dyed and a small trim here. When I booked the appointment, I was asked if I wanted a phase one student or phase 2. I replied saying phase 1 since it was just an all over color and someone cant really mess it up too bad being new. The atmosphere is pretty loud and everyone is running around everywhere so its a good place to people watch. I arrived and the girl I had was super nice. I never know what to talk about in the chair so I was kind of awkward to say the least. The all over color ended up taking almost 4 hours to do (I have very long thick hair by the way). Overall no complaints. Price is good and if youre not in a hurry its a good place to go and help the students get some experience. Plus if you are a college student and show them your ID the service is half off.

I understand they are students. But honestly I about cried walking out of there. Lol I had really blonde hair. Like almost white blonde hair and my dark brown roots were getting long so I went in and told the lady I wanted my roots kinda extended in color about an inch and maybe little brownish highlights thru out to make it look decent with my roots.. not at all what happened. They put the dark on my roots which was fine then without anything else added toner to the bottom so when it was rinsed out the brown leaked thru all my hair and now its all a brown. I loved my blonde so much and said so many times I didnt want it all dyed. It honestly all looks to be a dirty blonde or silver. . 😢 probably wont ever go back for dye.

Went for my birthday cut. It was cut by Todd the teacher it took 2 hours because he was teaching my stylist as he was cutting. Kudos to him. Felt like he was making love to my hair. .Best experience ever. God bless u all.

Front desk people were extremely rude and hateful walked out and canceled apt will not ever go back drive 2 hours for a fundraiser service.

Emily gave me hi and low highlights and a cut. She did an excellent job on both. I watched the instructors throughout the school advising the various stylists, answering questions, and demonstrating how to do cuts. I would not hesitate to send anyone to the school for their services. This is very high praise since I recently relocated to Springfield and had been going to a stylist I loved for 15 years before this move. Emily will be my go to stylist for future hair needs. She is also sweet as can be and takes meticulous care of you. Thanks so much, Emily!

Scheduled an appointment on my day off and was called a couple hours prior to cancel. The stylist, who I know, told me she tried to move my appointment back but was told the teachers were unwilling to staying past 4:30 so there wasn’t time to do my hair. If this would have been advised prior to the day of that would be one thing but 3 hours before on the day of is not acceptable. They didn’t even offer to book me with a different stylist when I told them this was my only time off that I could come in for the next several months. Very unprofessional and very frustrating.

Everyone was so nice from the receptionist on up! Took a little long for a haircut but I expected longer than usual.

I had an all over color done here by Melissa and Taylor. They are both amazing. The atmosphere is welcoming and friendly. I will be back! Thank you both!

I was down to visit my son who is in school at Paul Mitchell and I let him cut my hair for the first time in his life. This was a very special moment in my life to have my son give me a haircut. I was very pleased with the cut and the professionalism at the school. I was impressed with the attention of the instructor to details even what I would consider a haircut on a older man of 48 years. I can see great things for the students who attend this school. I am satisfied so far with the money spent for his education.May God Bless

I went to Paul Mitchell: the School to get an impromptu perm. Ive never done anything like this before but thought it would be fun! Very few of the students had seen a perm done on lengthy hair and many stopped by to observe and ask questions. My stylist, Erica, made sure to ask instructors for help and made sure she followed directions carefully. After 4 hours, the rollers came out! The perm was a little more relaxed than I wanted but the past few days, my hair has gotten SO much curlier. Im in love! Thanks to the students at Paul Mitchell!I was expecting 4 hours, but usually perms take about half that. They are students and they are learning so expect to stay a while! And bring snacks!!!

I love the Paul Mitchell School. I go there regularly for hair, massages, and facials and have been pleased with their services. I have the VIP card (only available to purchase in January I think) which makes all my services 50 percent off. Love this place and have saved a ton of money. Also they do microneedling, chemical peels, and microdermabrasions. I’ve never had an issue and have gone 20+ times. Thanks guys!! -Brooke

This is my favorite place for a haircut. Best price and best people. It is a great place to go to. The barber school students and staff have always been great and friendly. They do several services, haircut, shaves, facial hair trimming, ect.The students do the services, but are supervised by instructors.They take walk-ins, but Id recommend calling in advance and making an appointment.

I went there for a wash,cut, dry and they charged me over $25 I know I wont be going back. People receiving disability cant afford things at that high of a price. Great staff though such a shame. Sorry guys.

My daughter graduated from there today

My daughter, a college student at Missouri State, needed her hair color corrected after mom (me!) tried to play kitchen beautician and messed it up. It looked horrible--a green tint from the ash toner and bad highlighting and brassy roots--we thought for sure no one could fix it. Somehow Jessica Cole was able to not only remove the horrible colors but my daughter came out with the most beautiful honey blonde hair with incredible, dimensional highlights AND a new haircut to get rid of the damaged ends. Even though it took around 3 1/2 hours, the price was so reasonable and affordable for a college student. I cannot say enough good things about her experience.

I love being at the school! It has so much positive energy and the instructors are wonderful. They work hard to make sure everything thing is done to help a guest. Awesome place!

An amazing school

I went to the school today to essentially improve upon and correct some highlights I got at another salon. Ariana Davis greeted me and started the consultation. While I didnt bring any pictures of what I wanted, she was able to quickly narrow down two images on her iPad to help the process along. Between her and the education leader (I think thats what they are called) we developed a plan of action. At this point I felt very comfortable with what they were going to do to help me.During the process Ariana asked Gina to assist in the application of my color so things would move along in a timely fashion. I think this was a great use of resources! That an Ariana was sure to double check the color application to make sure it was seamless as two people had applied it. Her attention to detail was greatly appreciated.By the time my hair was washed out, blown dry, and styled, my hair looked 100% better! The education leader came by to check her work and while I didnt sign up for a hair cut that day, she noticed that my hair was very uneven on one side. For FREE this was trimmed off and I was looking very classy at this point.In conclusion, I got exactly what I needed and wanted even though I was unclear on how to get there. I am so happy I can wear my hair down again and it look beautiful! Ariana and the staff should be very proud for the quality of service they provide.

This school is a great example of the Paul Mitchell culture. You walk in and immediately feel welcome. The education is the best in the country. Ive visited and worked with many other schools in the country; and I would have to say this is one of the top cosmetology schools I have seen.

If you have curly, kinky hair or any texture near that, go see Lauren (Ren). She is by FAR the best hair care stylist Ive every had, and Ive traveled around the world. She does everyones hair in my family. Her shampoos and hair treatments are the BEST!!!!

The students are very good at taking the time to discuss what you want.....its best to brings picture with you so that they have no problem with what you want. Most of the teachers on the floor will also discuss what options you have and what it takes to create your hairstyle. You will be their longer than a normal salon but I enjoy having it done for less cost. When you are retired time is not a problem.

It is always a wonderful experience when I visit the school. The instructors are always so friendly and helpful. And the budding young stylists always go above and beyond to make sure that I am happy. I often forget I am at a school! Highly recommend!!!

The Paul Mitchell School is absolutely fantastic! My hairdresser took her time, and had to do a wonderful job because her grade depended on it. Fortunately, the staff are very friendly and I was able to hold a great conversation with my hairdresser, and I look forward to getting my hair cut there again!

Got a hair cut here, its very uneven and the girl who cut my hair proceeded to tell me during my hair cut that she never wanted to cut hair in the 1st place. I cant wear my hair down because it is so uneven and looks pretty bad. The staff was nice but I was very disappointed in my hair cut.

Great job, just wanted a trim for not $40+. Great job done cheap!

My stylist was Callie. She listened to what I wanted and did a really good job of making sure she did as I ask. I was very happy with my experience at the school.

They tried to up charge me for a service - which was not discussed with me previously for - the additional use of their keratin treatment product. The treatment is already incredibly expensive as it is. It doesn’t seem fair to charge the client extra when the initial amount of product poured did not fully cover the clients hair. I doubt I will ever return to Paul Mitchell School for services in the future. Todd was overseeing the girls working on my hair, and was also the person who tried to up charge me.

The staff at the school are very helpful extremely nice! Customer service was nothing but the best and I was very happy with my overall experience.

I had been coloring, red, and cutting my own hair for 18 years. Salon prices for coloring are just too expensive for me, also I could never get the stylist do understand how I wanted my hair cut. I have very long hair and got tired of doing it myself. So I decided to try a Cosmetology School. I decided to try Paul Mitchell because their hair products are awesome, when I could afford them. I began receiving Disability in April and decided I wanted to go purple. My friends talked me out of it. But where I used to work I saw a woman older than me with long silver/white hair with purple low lights. So I decided on that. When I walked in I immediately loved the atmosphere, everyone was smiling. The receptionist was very friendly and made me feel right at home. I had asked for an experienced student, one who would be graduating soon. She got her instructor, who was also super nice, and they discussed what I was wanting. Since I had been coloring my own hair for so long it was very dry. So decided for my first visit she would shampoo, condition & apply a moisturizing treatment and a trim. I explained how I wanted my hair cut & she got the cut exactly right!! Finally!! My next appt. was for color correction, red is the hardest color do get out. The Instructor came to talk to me asking how long I was expecting it to take to get to the color I wanted. I told her to take as long as they needed, because if you rush it it can damage your hair. She told me six months and that was fine with me. They had my hairs best interest in mind. In the mean time several people recommended schools who charge less. No way, Id rather pay a little more to have my hair done right. And they never tried pushing Paul Mitchell products on me, I was the one to bring it up with them. They do have the more expensive line of products but also a line that is more affordable to someone on a fixed income. When I went in for my second color correction my original stylist had graduated. My stylist now is Sarah Rae, liked her immediately!! They start the color correction on the ends first because the end absorb more color more quickly. Sarah told me of a deal they had going on that month. Dont know the exact term for it but it is where the color is darker on top and blonde about half way down, it would save me some money so I said sure. She was almost finished, just needed to add toner to take the brassy look left over from the red out of the blonde. But I loved it the way it was!! Loved it so much that I decided Im going to keep it this way, it looks great!! Today I went in to get my new growth touched up and a strip of purple put in. I love it, I finally got my purple, it looks fantastic!! I love Sarah & I love Paul Mitchell!! Ill never go anywhere else.

Please keep in mind these students are in training but the leaders should be more knowledgeable and more skilled. I really liked the girl I had but my hair turned out bad and my ombre lines were really off.. my recommendation is go to someone with tons of experience if youre going to do ombre or balayage techniques. The customer service was great just not the actual service.
