This is the best school my son can go to! As of the moment my son is struggling with school. Last year he went to a school that did not provide him the base for him to move to 1st grade. I moved him at the end of the school year to Hillsborough Academy, and it was the best choice! The Principal is very understanding and wants nothing but the best for the students. Shes helping me and my son make some accomodations so he doesnt keep getting behind. As far as the organization, they are the best at it! The teachers are great to communicate with the parents at all time. The safety of the school is one of the best Ive ever seen. Im really happy my son attends this school, wouldnt have it any other way.

I want to share with you a letter that we have written to Ms. Deen today, unfortunately I use the translator because I dont speak English very well. This refers to the fact that today my daughter was given to a mother that she was not. luckily we met and she called me. I share them because yesterday she was another mother, today it was me and tomorrow she could be one of you.Unfortunately we turned to you because our second grade daughter Ivanna Delgado was found today by a mother who was not me when leaving school, at 3:28 pm in walking, she had Yoga activity until 3:30 and We do not understand why Professor Pichardo calls her to leave, we have never picked up our daughter on foot and within the records there is no document that authorizes this method of collection. We declare that we are very concerned about the safety of the school because there is no control or proof of who delivers the students, the teacher MS PIchardo has let my daughter walk alone to where there was a mother and it was she who called us to report what happened because fortunately she was known, and the mother herself was the one who told the teacher that she was not the one to pick her up. The incompetence and lack of security protocols for students and parents is worrying, we do not understand why if the yoga class ends at 3:30 they make our daughter leave before the end time and without really confirming if we as parents were there. What is the authorization about who can collect it? if they are not confirming if the father who is there is. We do not accept an apology because if something happens to our daughter with the apology, we will not solve it. It is necessary for the school to take appropriate measures to protect our minors.

My son has been at HAMS for 3 yrs now. We love the school and feel very confident about his academics and safety. Ms Pichardo and Mr Sam are Awesome! We greatly appreciate the support and efforts by the teachers and staff at HAMS. Thank you!

I am so happy that I changed my 2 kids over to Hillsborough Academy of Math and Science from a Hills Co School. My children have become 2 different students as of this change of schools. They have become outgoing and love to attend school everyday. They are involved in their academics as well as a few different clubs that the school offers. Thank you Ms. Waddington, Mr. Sam and Ms. Pichardo my daughter is extremely happy about joining the Step Team.Also, Mr. Geck and Ms King for a great Running Club. My other daughter will be involved with the making of this years yearbook and has already been putting ideas together for the sports pages. It is so nice seeing them be involved. So different from their other school. Thank you Thank you Thank you… No longer do I struggle waking them up in the morning for school. I am tired of this teacher who don’t do anything when kids are being bullied. The principal think she has the school under control but she don’t this student do whatever they want and the teacher are lazy.

My son has been going here since 5th grade. This will be his last year as he graduates to high-school in 2021. He loves this school and if your kid is good in Science and Math you will love the advanced middle school teachers Mr. Long and Mr. Uriel. Currently my son is in Honors Geography and Honors Biology as well as honors other classes.

My son has gone to this school from 6-8th grade. I cant believe that we are closing in on the end of 8th grade, preparing for high school. I wanted to write this review for a couple reasons: 1. the school has prepared my son for high school very well. The teachers have remained consistent and with my son being double grades above- they taught him at a very high level that prepares him for sophomore and junior levels course once he gets into HS. Some of the top private schools are excited about welcoming our on and it is thanks to HAMS. Secondly- as we apply to private schools for my son, we realized the packets were time intensive with a lot of responsibility on HAMS. Without hesitation, the math teacher (for 3 schools admission processes), wrote letters of recommendation, happily. Today, the principle was asked to complete a letter of rec as well, and with no wasted time, immediately turned in my sons letter. This is the same for my sons English teacher. The registrar office, has promptly sent in all my sons grades and test scores for 3 years to 3 separate schools without making me feel like I was a burden or making me wait and wait. It was never a hassle asking this team at HAMS to help support my son. They have only been supportive of my son all 3 years, and when it came down to applying to HS, they stepped up even more with full support- cheering him on. We are grateful for this school, and especially, Ms. Deen (principle), Mr Long (Math), Ms. Summers (English) and Xiomara (registrar). Thank you!

I am a student (middle school) I would never recommend your child to go here! The teachers are amazing and have taught me so much! My problem is with the admin they clearly hate their jobs and the students. The vp hates kids and makes us feel uncomfortable and unsafe and there is no excuses for not letting a child feel safe in school. Mrs.Elder (the vp) is most likely is homophobic i was talking to my friends about a cute girl (just some random thing) and the next day i got called to the office about it she was not mad that i called somebody cute (i understand that i should not have) but she was more upset at the fact it was a girl (i am a girl) and i seen her not caring about boys and girls.

At this school the principal it is very mean with me all the time also make the other employee give the same treatment. When i go to school the principal make feel unwelcome i do not way because always I said hi to her never she said something back .

Grateful for the academic start that it gave my daughter. However, as an out going 8th grade parent of an athlete I am supremely disappointed in the schools choices for end of year awards.....not because I am that Dad, but because ever member of the Volleyball team and Basketball team knows that HAMS would NOT have experienced the success they have had without her. As high school coach myself, all I would never ask is that any school be fair.#Disappointed She will move on and do well at the next level. Thanks for the education.

Weve been at the school since it opened. We absolutely love it. The small school environment has made elementary and middle school perfect for my kids. I now have two kids in Sickles that are in more advanced classes thanks to the education they received at HAMS. There are rules in place to keep everything running smoothly. Its a lot easier to keep track of all the kids in the smaller environment. Safe environment and great administration. Highly recommend for parents involved with their kids.

Its an okay school, in my opinion at least. I like how its sorta advanced. I also love how they have Spanish, so I am already ahead of my future high school classmates. I love how they let my bus come through the car line instead of normal busline, so basically I like the school.

I went to this school from 6th grade to 8th grade and I’m a junior in high school now and my experience at this school was horrible. Don’t send your kids here. I remember my art teacher being fired because kids were expressing themselves when that’s what you’re supposed to do in art. She was fired for no reason. Anyways don’t send your kids here.

As a pragmatist, author and a driven educator for our future young leaders learning behavior in/out of the classroom. I had the opportunity to meet and discussed with the Assistant Principal earlier this year about the academic vision of Hillsborough Academy of Math and Science. After a pleasant discussion and a tour of the academys campus. I noticed the entire facility was universally learning centered and their approach mirrored their vision of academic rigor. I was very impressed of the academys commitment and dedication toward the students academic success.

I just graduated from here and I’ve been coming here since 4th grade. Honestly in the first few years the school was good. I hated going. We had a different principal every year. I did notice though, that ever since we’ve got Ms.Deen and Ms.Elder I didn’t want to leave! I actually loved school. I’m definitely going to miss them. Totally recommend (until they leave)😂.

As a homeowner in area, I find the utter lack of respect by the parents, etc dropping off / picking up their kids. Parents CAN NOT block homeowners at lights with their cars period!! At a major light, a car just sat there with a dedicated green light to turn? I pay taxes, etc, and should not be prevented to turn on a public road while parents sit in their cars and block traffic. My child absolutely loves this school! The days are challenging and rewarding! Teachers are amazing!

Curriculum and overall educational portion is Great and the children really do have a great opportunity. The teachers are all AMAZING. The problem with this school is they cant get administration under control. Their is chaos with the car line, every year they make changes for the worst. We are obligated to purchase items that are never utilized such as AGENDAS. Uniform company contract is horrible and poor quality. Administration wants to do so much changes but everything requires donations and money from parents. At least four big fundraisers yearly. New principal started in 2017 and I dont see her doing ANYTHING. We have students WINNING academic competitions on behalf of the entire school and they dont even know!! How do you not attend these competitions THAT YOU SIGNED THEM UP FOR?!!!! Letter to superintendent coming soon!! Left hand and right hand obviously not washing each other. !

This school is absolutely awful DO NOT COME HERE it’s all a trap you may hear that it’s a great school but all of that is from elementary parents it’s way worse if you’re in middle school there are so many problems with this school I can’t even address them all but just trust me don’t put your kids here. If I could put 0 stars I would. This school made my life HELL. Everything about this place sucks down to the bathrooms, the staff, and the school itself. Im still here for about a week and a half, and if the the staff here sees it, I dont care, maybe they will finally listen to me

Update 1/24/19: my kid left the school today, we found another school for him, the The problem still and The principal didnt apologize to my wife even though the VP asked her to.Two years ago I gave this school a 5 ⭐️ review but something happen today and I’m very disappointed. My son has been bullied many times since then, to the point where he himself posted a review because the principal wouldn’t take action concerning these issues. Weve complained many times, to teachers as well as the principal. Today my wife was called to come and remove my son from the school. While my wife was speaking to her I was on speaker phone and I heard the principal tell her if you don’t like how the school is now then take your son out of the school! My wife told the principal that my son has been there since the school 1st opened, why should he need to leave? and she responded to my wife “he can leave because I going to stay here for long time” she grab my wife by her shoulder and put her out of the school. Today the principal told my son “If you don’t remove that review you will get a more worst punishment because that would of been a out school suspension automatically ”What is that???? Many teachers have left this school since this new principal started, My sons reading teacher left and he didnt have a teacher for a month. What is happening in this school?

This school is a wonderful place for your kid to be, very good teachers, awesome staff, and great programs for the kids. I never had a problem with anybody. Teachers are always willing to help and assist you in anything they can.

Most of the great teachers have left or leaving. New Principle every year, did have one to stay 2 years. Writing and reading is not a focus. Daughter had high reading scores on State testing at Deer Park and after a year and a half there, her scores were at the bottom when we moved her back to public school. Sons first grade class did no writing so he was behind going back into public. Bullying at the school is horrible and the kids do not get into trouble for it at all. Some really great kids there with great parents but academics are just not that. Plus the kids that fail a test are allowed to retake it so grades are very much inflated.

My son has been going to this school since kindergarten and has been great so far. The teachers are awesome and I’m so proud to send my son to HAMS.The focus on math and science subjects is amazing.

This is our fourth year at Hillsborough Academy. I am super happy with the thecirriculum, teachers, learning environment provided. The teachers seem to genuinely care about the children and make it their priority to not only teach them the content they need to learn for testing purposes, but also guide and empower them to make good choices in their life. My only complaint is that I wish that more of the parents would focus on finding solutions or assisting the school in creating solutions, rather than be the problem OR worse the person who complains about the problem but doesnt do anything about it.

Dear Sherri, sorry that YOU are that miserable and judgmental that you would take the time to sit down and write negative things about every single person employed there. Sounds like you are the problem, I find it hard to believe that EVERY single person there is rude or unprofessional. That girl you speak about with the purple lipstick is the nicest person there, ALWAYS with a smile and more than helpful as well as others who are employed there. The problem might be your approached besides being judgmental you seem to be demanding and rude. This school is the best in Hillsborough County i would recommend everyone who is wanting the best education for their children to enroll here.

Excellent school, awesome staff, they have gifted program, and the kids have improved their knowledge. Bilingual staff. I would recommended it.

Im giving it 2 stars because its that much better than Webb Jr. Hi. The office staff clearly hates their job and their lives because they are extremely miserable, rude and incapable of answering a simple question. The receptionist has blue hair and wears blue lipstick to match. Not a good representation of a school. Im surprised this is allowed. I would expect office staff to look and present themselves as professionals but not here.

Being new to the area I was worried about my kindergartener and 3rd grader but they have been doing great & love their school.

I went to this school four years ago in the 6th grade. There was alot of hype around the school when it first opened and the waitlist was incredibly long. It look almost a year and a half for me to get accepted and I regret ever applying to this day. I dont even know where to begin with the problems. First the fact that teachers kept leaving and principles switched every year. We didnt have a teacher for a whole year at one point, there was a new sub every couple of months. We eventually got a teacher that the entire school hated (including staff and parents) who eneded up quiting at the end anyway. The list of issues is too long so ill just say one more. The completely idiotic rules that were put in place because of bullying. We werent allowed to wear jackets to the bathroom and had to empty our pockets before we left. The school didnt care about us nor our education either. Hopefully the school will get their act together at some point. Who am I? Thats one secret Ill never tell. Xoxo Gossip Girl.

Hello, I am a student here.First of all, the school is extremely horrendous. Nothing is usually done with bullying and etc. Secondly, front office staff is extremely rude.I have a teacher whom recently got hired here, yet she harasses the students, loses all their work, and film them without any consent from any permission from guardians!

Great school. If you are looking for a good education for your kids. Then you may want to try and get your kids in here. School has grades k-8th.

3 years in at Hillsborough Academy and I love it. I have several friends in the industry always telling me I should have been a teacher as there is such a shortage and huge demand in “all schools,” but that ship has sailed and quite frankly, you have to have a special kind of patience to be a Teacher and or Administrator. I honestly don’t know how they do it with all he unique personalities, but they do. The past two years I have seen very positive changes. I have seen consistency. I have seen organization. The atmosphere is just better. It wasn’t bad in my sons 1st year as a Kindergartner, but with the new Administration, it just is better now. We have the dynamic trio! Our Principal is great. Anytime I have ever had a concern, or noticed something that needed to be brought to her attention, she has been great. She is on it. She has always been accommodating to my child’s needs and I truly appreciate it. Our two Admins are always there! Tell me one school where the Administrators are all outside working together in the carline morning and afternoon, day after day, rain or shine. They are there. They have made such an improvement with the traffic in the community. As far as Education, I always have the tools at my fingertips to see how my son is doing academically with PowerSchool and can keep in constant communication with my sons teacher through ClassDojo! Last year my sons teacher had a baby and did not return. Admittedly I was upset. With the proven teacher shortage, I ended up with a permanent substitute who had been a teacher in the past, so, they did the best they could considering the teacher shortage in Hillsborough County and all over. I mean how dare that teacher go and have a baby! Shame on her! I don’t think reproduction is part of the Schools control! Haha Other than that, it has been great. I suppose the bottom line is it really is up to you/us and how good we want to make it for our children. If you stay involved, maybe volunteer a little, get to know the Administrators and Teachers, stay on top of PowerSchool following your child’s academics, stay in touch with your childs Teacher/Teachers, than it should be a great experience for you too! Obliviously not everyone has the time to volunteer, but most people have access to the Internet. There is no reason your child cannot be successful here! I recommend Hillsborough Academy to everyone!

Hello people of the internet, i have been here for 6 years..and ill like to talk about this school i have been here since 2nd grade! But over the years i began to feel like this school has changed alot in different ways, im not here to give hate to the school i actaully like it here the teaching is great, education is good nothing really bad, but the school in general is a meh, i mean the dress code is kinda ok (i hate it), lunches look like mutated food, the computer games are no longer a thing anymore, some of the greatest teachers left (Aka Ms cuscer sorry if spelled wrong) the clubs are less exciting, theres no competitions, overall this school is just boring, but what you expect its school right? Ive dealt eith alot of problems in the past probably more than i can count, but i know how this school works around Ive seen every little thing they do around the school and still it looks the same as always, i try to look on the bright side sometimes for something magically to happen around the school at least but nothing really, i personally do not like the school just because what it has to serve i mean education is ok but like at least try to do something around the school like posters or more art! Im into that but you know where im coming from, but why did i rated it 2 stars well, because so far what i seen from this school is just plainish,grey,cold anither is that the same people come each time but thats not a thing! Its just that new kids arent coming so often anymore either there staying for while and leaving, but i see more improvements ariund the school ill rate this a 5 but for now its a 2. Who am i? G-B Marie I can see clear that somebody told you put that review, it looks like you answered a comment, maybe you don’t know math and science like me, my two kids started when the school was built, HAMS was a 4.8 star and is currently a 3 star in Hillsborough county schools, my two kids was in avanced class and one of my kids was National Junior Association, even more he was the president of National Junior Association in math and science for couple years, I know more about this school even more then some of the teachers because all the good teachers left, I never witnessed bullying in this school before but now yes, many complain about bullied, and for Cynthia and Richard szmyt both give 5 star to this school with not comment, look like your guys don’t have kid in this school, you guys and G-B Marie have weak review, “said the truth and the truth shall set you free”

Id wish to give the school a four stars, however the new principle is awful! She fired a teacher for no reason, she does NOT support the LGTB+ community and much more. In my opinion, she should be fired.

This school has been great for my child. The faculty and staff support the kids 100%. The curriculum is challenging and the school day is fun!

I used to be a student there since it opened ....I moved of the year I went to 7th grade....I don’t like the teachers...My 5th grade math teacher was surprised I got an A in her class... the teachers are horrible to me 👍🏽

This school is just absolutely atrocious. The other day I got a detention for going pee.

My son was in Baycrest in K and 1st grade and it was alright. I was worried about grades 5-8 and HAMS is K-8 school. He got put in advanced class and is doing very well. He is happy and in a better learning environment. As for the dress code... it is not a big deal and actually not very strict. Kids have been wearing jackets other then the school jacket. The after care is reasonable and flexible. I have asked my son many times if he likes HAMs better than BayCrest and he has said yes everytime.

Im a 8th grade student and I LOVE IT!! I have had few to no problems with staff and I finally made some good friends :) im very happy to be a bobcat!!!

This school can be described as 1 thing.. a MESS.the school FORCES you to buy uniforms from Ibiley (located in Miami - and recently opened in Brandon) Ibiley is a disaster, cutomer service is atrocious/ non existant, and they are closed more often than open. I hold this school directly responsible for using this garbage uniform supply. They refuse to allow children to wear anything other than a school jacket ( which they cant get because Ibiley is prettty much useless. ) so children must either wear a sweater under school clothes or be cold inside..

All these kids and parents posting bad reviews just because your kid didnt want to follow the rules really ? My kids have been coming to this school since day 1 and the only bad thing about it is the parents that dont know how to follow simple rules just like their kids and lack common courtesy.

Poorly executed school. Not sure where all the good reviews came from, but I can tell you this 3 principals in 4 years is not good. Teachers are continually leaving for other schools. My son and 3 others also left for new schools due to frustrations with HAMS. Next is a letter to the superintendent of schools.

Now I’m a student from this school and this school is bad the teachers watch you get bullied and don’t care because I was bullied at this school and all they give me is a write up and a “I’m sorry” letter to the person who bullied me and I’m always getting picked on and I hate it so I just want to move to another school and plus me and my friends get in trouble for doing nothing because a kid in the class made a noise and disrupted the class and everyone says it’s me or it’s someone else also this is what I really get mad about so some kid bullies me and I run to the teacher and tell him the whole story but the teacher wants to hear the bully’s story but I automatically get in trouble and I come home with bruises because the bully lied.
