The only good thing about this place is location.Where do I start with the bad, when we first arrived there was not toilet paper. I went to the front desk had to ask for one. Next day we leave all day came back thinking we were going to come back to a clean room new fresh sheets and clean towels. I was so wrong, again went to front desk and asked what happened they said because of covid during our stay they will not enter but if we need trash taken out and towels they will bring some up. Next day looked for housekeeping brought out our dirty towels and trash asked for new towels they didnt have any. Said they would bring it up to the room, nope never did. Basically if you want to travel you need to be prepared to clean your own room bring your own towels and trash bags because they wont do it. On our first day there was dirty socks by the fridge from previous guests. Honestly dont know what your paying for but a bed to sleep on. Even then sheets and towels we did have the first day are also stained. I would not recommend anyone to stay there, so inconvenient especially if you have children. Because of covid I would think they would do extra cleaning like other hotels. They should offer a discount for guests having to do their own cleaning and getting their own towels. By the way they also double charge you if you use a debit card which was also an inconvenience as they ended up limiting us on our spending.

Do not stay here. Blood stained sheets that are dirty as well. Theres no comforters. They dont clean the rooms. A/C unit is extremely dirty. Room smells moldy. Light switches dont work. Fridge broken. Cold water is warm. TV dont work. Looks like a janky motel with gas station makeup. And its not like it was dirt cheap either. I only expected a clean room. They barged into our room at 9:40 while we were changing telling us to check out so they could clean, but our checkout time was 11. Cool decor, but the place is not clean. The lady upfront seems nice enough, but they need more staff. Anything we wanted took forever. She also did not wear a mask at any point or time. Shower clogged. Wall mounted items are all falling off. They have soap dispensers but they were completely empty.

I want to rate it no star but it doesn’t give me the option. Got the queen room. Room is so tiny. One bedside table. Stained sheets. Crusty chair. Oh and also the rooms are connected.. there is a sealed door between our room and another room. Walked in and heard a scream from the room next door. Definitely will not stay here again and will not recommend to anyone. The mini fridge is on the floor and you can’t open the door cause it drags on the floor. My bedroom at home is way bigger than this hotel room, I’ve never been in such a small hotel room.

Bad, bad, bad experience!!!! Fist off, it took about 45 min just to check in. The light was not working at the shower room. Bed sheets were stained. This used to be a nice hotel. The room is extremely basic and as a whole, becoming obsolete in lack-luster appearance, dingy curtains, dirty carpet, pointless air-conditioning system and archaic vending machines. No cups in the room, I guess you get what you pay for.... plus 90 hold on my card? For what? Anyways. Never again.... ever!

I booked this hotel 5 days in advance, I called and told them I would be flying in and would not arrive until around midnight. They assured me that was fine. When I arrived there was no one in the lobby to check me in, I waited for over an hour and no one ever showed up. While I was waiting I saw a bunch of uneasy questionable activity. It turned out to be a blessing in discise, because I ended up at the Hilton. DO NOT go here, this place is run down and crawling with addicts.

So they charged us almost $300 for 2nights.The AC wasnt working. The floor had stains on it. The bedside lamp had no bulb. The rest of room was poorly lit. The freezer had thick layer of frost. The room smelled like animals live in it. No trash bin. And more.To be honest, my husband checked in first and I joined him the next day. He didnt report the issues because he dint want to be that customer 🙄. I tried talking to them about it when I came in but they said that they couldnt switch the room since he didnt complain when he first came in.

Made my reservation because of misleading reviews. Upon arrival, the front desk lady made no eye contact and was more attentive to her phone and other fellow hotel employees. The room was not clean. The sheets had yellow stains. Tried using the room phone but was disconnected from the wall and there was no way to connect it back again. Called the front desk using my cellphone and told the lady about the yellow stains in the sheets. She said that the sheets were clean but stained. I told her that was unacceptable and she said she didn’t know what to do as she had only been working in the hotel for one month. Upon asking for a manager she the offered to replace the sheets or cancel my reservation with a refund. After 20 minutes of waiting for the clean sheets I opted to leave the hotel.Don’t stay there and please be honest with your reviews to avoid other families going through What I went through.

We certainly werent expecting luxury, but we were expecting much more than what we received. This is a max $60 / night hotel, priced at double that. The rooms have a strong, bad smell, the microwave and AC unit were broken (I will say AC was still functioning thanks to a heavy amount of duct tape, but microwave not usable), there was no coffee or tea provided despite there being a coffeemaker, there was no iron despite there being a rack for an iron, there was drawing on the walls, the bed linens were paper thin, furniture all scratched up, no lining for the shower, broken towel hanger on the back of the bathroom door, no one came to clean our room at any point, had a cockroach crawling around... not worth what we paid, and just know that it looks absolutely nothing like the pictures. Staff was friendly, but quality absolutely not where they make it seem to be online.

After a week of relaxation across the street at Town & Country we decided to stay another night. Sadly T&C had no rooms available. We made the drive around hotel circle and we found Hotel Iris. The outside was sad and not updated. there was a woman that seemed as she was staying at Iris for free, thanks to Newsom and his generosity. Or maybe she uses the room for work. If you know what I mean. The Room was scary. Stains on the walls, maybe someone pooped vomited or spilled something on the walls. Used tissue was stuffed back to the tissue box. Someone had a tiger in the room and let it loose because the bottom of the bed was torn and shredded. When we left, Smoking woman was still there. Three hours of smoking outside. Poor lungs! A car drove by taking pictures of all the cars that were parked outside. Not sure what that was for. We jolted out of there as fast as we could. Like a fart in the wind we were out. We didnt even fight for a refund we just wanted to be as far away as we could. Here take my wallet but please dont kill me kind of feeling.

If there is a no star review i will do it, we booked here knowing that we will be having a good time and peaceful rest at this hotel. First it took my husband less than an hour to get us checked in.second, that first night at i woke up with bed bugs bite all over. Which made us leave at 3am and look for a hotel that till accomodate us at that time, the hassles of looking and stressing at that time, when supposedly its a vacation. On vacation i was miserable the whole time because i was itching all over and couldnt get a good sleep. This experience was terrible, it was a nightmare.i have photos and videos to share.on top of this we have 2kids with us and 7 adults who checked in. Staff or manager was late for work 30mins advise by staff who cleans in the room then after said 15more mins to wait outside the office and we came at 9am we had to wait almost an hour to talk to them the next day to ask refund. In terms of refund we got the refund but the experience of being misserable the whole vacation is the worst! Busted light, we ask for additional towel they said they only have 2, when we were 9 including 1toddler and 1 baby. No hangers, no hair dryer..

When I got there the front dest gentleman told me my room was being cleaned and it would take 20 mins. I waited in the parking lot and after 20 minutes I walked in my room and noticed a strong cigarette smell. I then noticed my bed sheets had burnt holes on them and also noticed the art on the walls were graffitied with blue marker. I didnt even bother to complain because I just knew all the rooms were in the same condition. I booked another hotel and called it a loss. The hotel was overpriced compared to the condition it was in.P.S: While I was walking out I noticed a lot of sketchy people hanging outside their rooms. My bad for not reading reviews and just going off of a friend’s recommendation, but this place is just kinda gross. When I checked-in I read a sign at the desk saying, “Smell that fresh air? It’s our smoke-free rooms.” As soon as I walk in my room, it reeks of weed; which living in California I can ignore. What I can’t ignore is the amounts of different hair everywhere, from my bed and sheets to the jacuzzi itself. One of the lamp lights didn’t work, and I laughed when the jacuzzi handle came off in my hand. I just gave my keys back and called my loss on $176...

During our 2 day stay we noticed:-Sheets had stains, either coffee or old blood.-Dried god-knows-what on the mouth/chin of the weird face mural on the wall-Towels had a black handprint/red rusty marks on them, so we had to go buy towels-Heated up pizza in microwave, roach crawls out after it was cooked, we immediately go to the office and report it. Would not switch us rooms, clerk was disinterested, and was no help other than offering to remove “daily service fees”(A whopping $11). I told her we were leaving for the day and I asked that housekeeping cleans the pizza out of the microwave and the fridge in case there were more roaches. We return from the beach around 6-7PM, microwave is still sitting open with pizza inside, so no one had been in the room all day.Went to check out around 11AM- “daily service fees” had not been removed from our bill, I explained what happened with our room and that we left the pizza in the microwave since housekeeping failed to clean it the day before. After returning home I opened a dispute with my bank. The Hotel didn’t want to be of help, so I figured the bank would help, but a month later my bank denied the dispute, so I let it go. A month after that, my friend, who was just a guest and had no financial responsibility for the room, received collection notice for the room. I was able to provide detailed proof that I paid for this room and they are still trying to come after me. BEWARE, STAY AWAY. Youd be better off sleeping in the car.

I have to say I was a bit disappointed in the room quality at Hotel Iris. They must know their camera angles because the room felt no where near as nice as the pictures portrayed. My girlfriend and I stayed in the Jacuzzi suite for our anniversary and we both agreed that the jacuzzi was the only thing going for this place. The room left lots to be desired in terms of quality and definitely felt like you were in a motel. Had it not been for the jacuzzi in the room I would have been sorely disappointed. The bed was not very comfortable and the walls were thin. However, the customer service from the staff was excellent. Upon arrival my Gf and I found the room to smell of smoke and the hotel staff took responsibility and made sure we were taken care of. Julio, Gina, and Leo were all great and made sure we were properly taken care of during our stay.I would recommend Hotel Iris if you are needing to stay in a central location in SD and are not going to be in the room often. For the price of stay, dont expect a 4 star hotel or anything near that because youre not paying for that.

There are plenty of chain hotels in the near by area, I suggest you stay in one of those other options. Cheap rent by the hour or month motel style building and sub-par pool/ jacuzzi area. My original room was not cleaned upon arriving, the front desk was polite about it and moved us to another room, but this one still had the same old building/previously smoked-in smell. They are unclear with their rates through third parties and additional charges pop up when you check in. Although they agreed to waiver these, the charge still showed up on my credit statement the next month. When I called back to ask about it the manager FB was not only telling me this wasnt her problem but a problem she wasnt made aware of there for could not help me with and that I would have to call to complain to the third party I booked with. Thats not how banks work, the charge came from their hotel directly, therefor thats who you call to clear up an unauthorized charge.

The room was big and very clean, and the light in the bathroom was super flattering. I loved that there were two desk AND a bench. I really liked the two chairs attached to the wall instead of a closet. I thought it was creative and cute and much more practical and useful than an actual closet. That said, there were some cons too. The beds were not very comfortable, and the towels were small and scratchy. But, in my opinion, the positives far outweighed the negatives.

We booked the room for 3 nights and only stayed for 2; but they still charged me for the 3rd. The location was not horrible but I did not feel the safest walking to my car in the evening. The room was decently clean; a couple of stains on the carpets. The bathroom was clean but very small. Also they had chairs hanging on the wall? I guess that was a decoration. The reason I gave the room 1 star was because the bed! We were so uncomfortable. The second night we bought pillows from Wal-Mart hoping to get a bit more support but by the morning, I had a horrible backache. The plus side to the room was the mini fridge. Hope this helps!

You should better close the hotel. It doesn’t make any sense charging $120 for a room that should be $0.You collect around $70k on a Saturday night. There should exist regulations to stop hotels like you making easy money.Towels old and dirty, sheets old and dirty, blankets very very old and suppose dirty.Cleanness y general terrible.

Location/appearance are deceiving. This hotel is an amazing value at the price. Room was well kept and service was great. Had an issue with the key card reader but it was handled lightning fast. Side note-the artwork on the wall is strange, but by no means a deal breaker.

This is the second time Ive stayed here, as I was taking a class in San Diego. I really didnt want to spring for a room to take a 4-hour class each time, but the rates are so reasonable and the rooms are all clean and comfortable, so I cant resist. Parking was full due to construction, but there was an adjacent overflow lot that was very convenient. Charles was helpful with my late check-in and I was upgraded to a king sized room.I also had a fridge and microwave, which makes it easy to store my healthy salads and shakes that I brought along.I would highly recommend this hotel as the front desk is very professional friendly every time.

Everything was simple and efficient. Housekeeping did a good job.I appreciated the iron/ironing board - I was visiting San Diego to attend a wedding. The parking, possibly because of the construction going on behind the Inn, was a bit dicey but the manager/clerk quickly recognized the challenge and found space so it worked out.Great value.

Bad service... that’s if u get service... dirty rooms... bugs and spiders everywhere... the male Receptionist didn’t give us his name .. tall man wears glasses black and gray hair in his late 40s has bad attitude.. worked on 6/3/2019 night shift until the morning...zero customer services... hung up the phone on me while I was asking for cleaning up the room and service sine I was there for 2nights and no one entered the room to clean.... The room phone doesn’t work..had to call from my cellphone and when I called the lobby clerk working this night he hung up on me... I walked to the lobby to get the room cleaned and towels

CLEAN rooms. Great staging to tour and play in the city. Great Lyft response. Rates lower than other hotels in area. Rooms are mild retro but modern. Freshly painted.

Somewhat small rooms but I stayed in the room with a hot tub and the tub was a very pleasant experience. The rooms are nicely designed and the receptionist is very helpful. Only issue was with the cards. I placed them near my phone and the magnetic strip was deactivated so that maybe troublesome if you accidentally deactivate the card.

Enjoyed one night at thos great place. A perfect location for a layover nicely sized rooms. Good access to get out and about around San Diego and a fair value for your bucks. We licked the way the rooms are made (modern, clean, fresh) and believe its among the best places for that price. Obviously less of a long-term place...

We were very pleased with the hotel for the most part. The room was pleasant and clean. The bed was comfortable. Lighting was bright enough. Location was excellent for sightseeing in San Diego. The parking was sometimes an issue. One night we came in late and every space was taken! We finally parked on the verge next to the construction site by bumping over the curb--not a pleasant time. Perhaps a few less rooms should be rented while the construction is going on so you actually have parking spaces for everyone! Another improvement from our perspective would be to take the room nearest the lobby and turn it into a dining area. In the colder months your breakfast tends to cool off before you get to your room to eat!

Hotel Iris was pleasantly surprising. The room was very clean and the jacuzzi tub was very large and worked well. Hotel parking was great and I parked right outside of my room, and the rate for the room was much lower than hotels in the immediate area, and the rooms were just as nice as what you get in a big name Hotel.

The room wasnt clean, the beds were not comfortable, there was water leaking in the bathroom and we didnt get any towels on the second day. This is one of the worst hotels Ive ever been.

Great room. It was clean, spacious and comfortable. Staff was accommodating and nice. They were having some restyling of the facilities, so there was not much parking, but the Front Desk was able to guide me to where I could park. Id like just to point out you should look at the details after refurbishing (like the carpet skirting near the bathroom, it was detached and pointy) and take care of them. Other than that, all good, thanks!

You get what you pay for in hotels. This one cut a lot of strange corners to look nice but still be inexpensive. It has been remodeled recently--maybe very recently based on other reviews. Tile grout in the shower is already falling out. Our door didnt quite fit the frame, with a gap large enough to see outside. Towels are rough and just barely long enough to wrap around my 34 waist. The curtains do not block light very well. With a corridor light near our room, the light through the curtain was enough to see fairly clearly throughout the room at night. And you cant remodel your way out of having an old building. We had one of the farthest rooms you can get from I-8 but we heard it very clearly. And the bed was on wheels on a tile floor. So be ready to move around! Most of these are little things, but I would rather have an older TV if it meant large fluffy towels and a properly fitting door.BUT, this is a nice hotel overall. Great price and within 15 minutes of everything we wanted to do in San Diego: beaches, the zoo, downtown restaurants. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Free parking, and we never had a problem parking close to our room. The kitchen is nice, but only minimally stocked. If you plan to cook, bring your own stuff. If you just want to do cereal or something, youre good to go. My family played so much we really used the room to sleep, so overall it was really good and a great price.

Great Hotel. Located with all the rest, its pretty close to the zoo, and downtown San Diego. The problem is the access is rather complicated, because of the way the highway is built, the offramp is like a mile or more away than the hotel, but the exit is quick. They have policy of not giving more than 4 towels to each room (understandable given how people generally take them), but since we were 4 + an infant we needed 5, so we had to make with 4.The room was great, clearly just renovated. The area is quiet and safe, and restaurants are located really close.

We stayed here for a week for a family vacation and it was great. Our room was clean and had everything that we needed for the week. My kids loved the pool they swam everyday. The hot tub was not hot enough for me but it was clean and there were other people that really enjoyed it. The staff was very pleasant and answered any questions that I had. They did require a $100.00 deposit, it was returned to me in full when I checked out. We had a wonderful time here and would stay again.

Did not even get a chance to check in! A hotel resident spit on our windshield as we pulled into the hotel and made obscene gestures then walked away. We cancelled our reservations and left imediately.
