I went for a haircut for my very dry, damaged, chemically treated hair. The haircut Paige Hayes gave me was absolutely amazing! She gave me a few suggestions before she started, and everything she did made my hair look better than it has in a year. While she was cutting my hair, I could tell she was really paying attention to detail and taking her time. It turned out looking full and healthy. One of the best haircuts I’ve ever had. And she was so friendly too! I’ll definitely be returning to Paige for future cuts.

If you need a basic color or cut this place is good. You must know exactly what you want done and tell them what you expect. Don’t go in there and ask them what they think you should do to your hair or you might end up with something you don’t like a very specific student know exactly what you want done

This review comes from my perspective as a customer receiving services performed by a student. I scheduled a signature facial and hoped for the best. When I arrived, I was paired with an esthetician named Reba. She was absolutely wonderful from start to finish. She made me feel comfortable, relaxed, and spoiled in every way - not to mention my skin felt amazing! She explained what she was doing throughout the process and even shared some tips on how I can continue to take care of my skin after her work was done. When I left, my skin was glowing and I felt so happy that I decided to book. Thank you Reba for making me feel like a queen! I will be back for another facial with Reba soon.

I had my hair done by an extremely talented student yesterday. Her name is Cammie, #3830. Book with her if you want great color, or foil work. My hair looks fantastic and she is very personable. Great experience!Ive been coming here off and on for years, When I go to a salon, it always reminds me why I come to the school. The students are so sincere, the products used are fantastic quality, and the price is right.I really wish that there was a tipping option when paying by debit/credit. I rarely carry cash, and I get embarrassed when I am paying my bill and dont remember to bring cash for the tip. The students work extremely hard, and are not paid. The cost of the program is expensive. So, if there was one change that I would hope for, it would be to have the management figure out a method for applying a gratuity to the bill.

Tia did my hair. I requested a level 10 blonde and I have medium brown hair that easily turns orange. I had orange remaining after trying to lighten it myself months ago so she had a rather complex coloring job to do. MY HAIR LOOKS FABULOUS. Its the best its looked in 20 years. Everyone has complimented me on how great it looks and couldnt be happier. Its a top quality job and I know for a fact that another salon would have charged me 250 or more because I have very long hair. I will never go back to any other salon ever again. They have highly skilled trainers there that watch every customer and the results prove it. The stylists have been taught difficult coloring techniques very very well because my hair is difficult to get the orange tones out and they did it without any problems. This was the best salon color Ive ever had and I will be a customer for life.

I have been going here for over 6 years. Love the idea of being a test dummy for students to learn and grow their skills on. Prices are decent unless you have THICK hair like myself. They do offer email discounts every so often. Friendly staff and the students are sweet. I would recommend requesting a phase 2 student if you want someone who is more experienced. If you have patience get serviced by a phase 1 they are all awesome!

Me and my husband wont go anywhere else now, for our hair care services! We signed up with the hair cutting club a few months ago, and now we go for a trim every 3 weeks; I get a different color in my hair every 6 weeks, and we LOVE the people! All of our attendants have been great, and the supervisors are great too! Theres a lot of hustle and bustle there...lots going on, a lot of students, and all of them must be taught good bedside manner, because all we see is smiles, and willingness to get everything right every time! We love em! Totally sold!

I am a regular customer to Paul Mitchel. I go there twice a month for touch up, shampoo and blow dry. I am very satisfied with the work the students are doing, especially the price is affordable for me. They do everything very carefully and show that they are dedicated to their work. They are extremely kind and polite. It is also interesting to meet so many young people each with a different goal and dream and talk with them about their plans. I usually stay with the same student until she graduates, and then Im assigned to another student. I get the chance to meet many people and compare the kind of work they can do.

They kicked me out of the school for smoking weed back in 2007, looks whats legal now!!! Also, they told me to just be honest and nothing will happen, then I was honest and got the boot. What did I learn from this experience? Lie.... when they tell you to just be hones..........LIE!! Anyways I went on and finished my education elsewhere. I just wanted to get this off my chest! I was the best in the class that year!!

Not only is there quality education with in the school,but through guest artist we are offered advanced education where this may lead to more advanced education outside the school. This place loves to give back, they teach you this with their Be Nice culture. And I have also been on the guest side of the coin to, I was treated very well and my service was wonderful. Such great service! Everyone is super nice and welcoming. Ive only been here twice and had two different hair stylists but I loved both haircuts so much. The first girl fixed the disaster that Marinellos Beauty School left me with. The girls offer a lot of great advice and are super open to hearing suggestions.

I go to Paul Mitchell the School Sacramento at Arden every 6 weeks or so for a cut and a Flashback treatment to cover my graying hair. My favorite part of the haircut is the invigorating scalp massage, Be sure to ask for Tee Tree Special shampoo. I usually ask for a Phase II student, they have a bit more experience which makes the entire process go more quickly. But expect the process to take a bit longer than your usual salon experience. Everyone is very nice there and the students are well supervised. You can’t beat the price either.

Went to school here for almost a year and graduated in October of 2019. The teachers are unprofessional, unprepared, unorganized. Full of empty promises and sitting around not doing much of anything at all. Was promised lash extension course and makeup classes through the esthetics program and got neither. Would not recommend.

Got a wash and cut by Katrina and had a great experience and a great cut! If youre afraid of getting your hair cut by a not - yet professional, dont be! Because everyone is a student it means they will take their time to be sure everything is done right and you are happy, and instructors are there overseeing the entire time. Because of this, it does take a bit longer than at a professional saloon, but its totally worth it!

This school has amazing people that do amazing hair. Only reason it gets 4 Id that NO ONE EVER ANSWERS THE FRONT DESK PHONE.Im trying to give them business, as Im sure plenty people are. I call and call and call and eventually just have to leave a message pleading with them to call me back soon, as I only have one day off a week! Hopefully one day theyll fix that.

Joaquin, Abby and Krista were awesome♡ The room where they shampoo your hair is clean and quiet with soft music playing. . You could literally go to sleep. I was welcomed and treated so nice. Im going back Friday for highlights and lowlights. Awesome place and very reasonable.

What can I say?! Its cool. NIGHT SCHOOL rocks my socks! I have been going here for about 7 months now and I have learned a handful of new techniques. Our clubs are phenomenal, I have the best of both worlds of being able to join both social networking and design team. As future professionals they offer us many classes within the industry. Hair extensions, airbrush make up, the list goes on. If your not a morning person, or if you just have duties to fulfill in the day time, I recommend night school to be the number one option.

RIP off. You need knowledgeable teachers to train these kids. Ill never be back.

We took our two daughters (3 and 2) to get their hair cut, and were nervous as ever, but their hair stylists (Diana and Ciera) pulled through and did an amazing job. They were also awesome with regard to moving with the girls since they had a hard time sitting still. Overall were very, very happy with the end result. Thank you guys!

I recently received a wonderful hair cut and scalp treatment from one of the future professionals. I walked out feeling great. And Ive got nothing but great compliments about my new hair cut! Ive also received outstanding facials from the the esti program and my skin has never looked better! And not to mention the customer service was outstanding from all the employees and future professionals. I will definitely be returning for more services!

I found the school to be clean and the students courteous. My hair was a mess and the two students Angeles and Kurstin, who worked on it did a wonderful job! They first performed a patch test which was overseen by the instructor. This is when I found out that the process that I was wanting done wasnt going to work for my hair. The Instructor explained that the medication I am on, and the previous colors used on my hair have made it so damaged it was breaking off. She also provided another plan and came up with a solution that I am happy with. The color came out great and Angeles styled my hair so beautiful...Thank you girls.I know that many times people come to schools because the cost is less than going to a high end shop. Please be gentle when you come to a school. Remember that these students are not professionals yet. They are learning and do best when not under pressure. They are here because they love what they do. Not to be yelled at or made to feel inferior.I will be back again. I felt welcome, the instructors know what they are doing, and the students, especially Angeles and Kurstin show great potential.

I have been going for years and have had good students, only once did I have a bad experience and even tried to give the student the benefit of the doubt by re-booking with her again. I was mad to find out that at my appointed day and time, she didnt come back from her lunch. Apparently she didnt like me! The other bad experience is knowing the right time to call to get a live person. I have left messages before and sometimes they dont call back. I use the same formula for touching up my roots and high/low lights so no problem there. I have learned that you need to show the student, with pictures, how you usually wear your hair or what products that you use because even the styling products can make a good hair into a bad one. I am specific about what I want but not mean about it. The floor leaders know me and will step in when the student isnt doing something right. It is a learning experience.

I started the Esthetics program in June and have loved every single day at Paul Mitchell The School Sacramento. The Paul Mitchell culture is unique and I have had the most amazing experience as a Future Professional. I truly recommend anyone who has a desire to be in the beauty industry to be trained here by some of the most amazing people in the industry. The Learning Leaders and other staff are compassionate and caring and truly love what they do which makes the educational experience that much better.

I have been going to Paul Mitchell for six years. Ive liked some of their haircuts more than others but never disliked any of them. Their skin care services and massage therapies are fantastic!

I went in to get a haircut and balayage highlights in my hair. I spent near four hours in that place. The girl cutting my hair was supposed to style it after the haircut and did not do so. She blow dried it with a brush and comb. By the way, my hair is thick and curly. So I walked out looking like a troll doll. When I got home to flat iron my hair and get a better look at the color job, I saw literal spots of color in my hair. very noticeable spots of bleach. On the top and underneath. They kept telling me how pretty it was and how nice it looks, but it was quite the contrary. Anybody looking at my hair can see that it looks terrible. Do not get your hair colored here.

Excellent and consistent service, appointments fit my schedule, prices are amazing and my current hairdresser, Leni, is A++. I look forward to my appointments, new color, new hairstyle. At my age (50ish), they keep me hip! Love all the other services they offer as well.

I personally had a bad experience. What I asked for and what I got were very far from each other. They even left out a fairly large chunk of hair to be colored I think because they were strapped for time.

I had appointment today for color and cut. Not happy with my hair:( I’ve been there for 4hours, and my hair is too short and color is black! Suppose to be brown and longer:( the big problem is! First they color then they cut!!!! You have to pay for colors that getting cut later! Why they do that?!! Not happy and got so tired

I have been going there for years. I normally have a phase 1 student that is closely monitored or they afraid to mess up and end up doing a wonderful job. This time they gave me a Phase 2 student. I wanted layers and all I really got was a trim. If there are layers I cant see them. I could have complained and she would have fixed but I was pressed for time.

I was paired with Marta. I had a really crazy hair situation that involved a color correction, plus I wanted to go platinum blonde (most people shy away from it because Im a dark-ish brunette). With guidance from TuTu and Lotus, she did a phenomenal job. It took a long time, too (like, 3.5 hours). I highly recommend. They train their students well!!

Ive been going to Paul Mitchell the school of Sacramento for almost 6 years now. I live an hour and a half away and let me tell you, its definitely worth the commute. The staff, front desk, and students are extremely friendly and accommodating to the customer needs. Last February I decided I wanted a drastic color change. I wanted to go from my natural dark (almost black) hair color to a platinum blonde. The students advised me to bleach and highlight my hair over a period of time instead of doing it all at once. Im more than grateful that we did, because I now have healthy platinum blonde hair and I have them to thank for it. In the process my hair stayed virtually damage free, and I was able to keep my length due to their hair products and trained skills. I love the school, and will continue to keep coming back! Besides, you cant beat $45 for an all over highlight!

I experienced my first Signature Facial today from a future Professional Esti and cannot believe I havent gotten one before. It was extremely relaxing.. The atmosphere is professional and veery respectful. I cannot wait to go back!

I have been here three times now first a keratriplex, then hair color, then a scalp treatment with a haircut. Each time was a success! The environment was inviting and each time my hair came out great! The keratriplex restored my hair and the scalp treatment felt so good! My haircut was perfect. The students can take a long time, but Id rather them take their time then rush and mess up. Recommend coming here if youre on a budget and want to support education!

This place is horrible. Instead of giving me the brown balayage I asked for, hey gave me zebra highlights of a color specifically said I didnt want. They dont even look like highlights but more like a school kid just grabbed random portions of my hair and decided to bleach it. This aside from incessant hair yanking and other carelessness the student displayed. They could have simply said they couldnt do what I wanted, instead they said they could, took my money, made a joke of my hair and now wont call me back to fix it.

A very bad experience. I came in for a full head hi lite. Blonde. I said i want big blonde hi lites. I knew it wasnt going well. She was pulling my foils before they were done. Anyway she takes me to shampoo bowls and dumped a mess of toner on it. She called for a teacher(really) who says if I buy purple shampoo my hair will be beautiful. I came home with purple, gold and ash hair. It didnt wash out. I came out looking worse than when I went in. I think its disgusting that the teacher thought it was ok to lie to the customers, just so they can get their money and hustle me right out the door. That student didnt have a clue what she was doing and she had been there a year.. What a sorry mess. Now I have to spend more money to get it done correctly.

I saw them on Groupon and decided to check them out, the guy said it would be more than what I paid for and that was okay with me. I got there at six and Im knowing this is a learning school but while she was washing my hair she completely soaked me. Shes starting to finally cut my hair. He didnt even know where to begin, its almost 8 oclock now . Im freezing, only an inch has been cut. Im still trying to keep calm and then the guy said he couldnt die my hair so at this point, I just want to leave. I showed them my Groupon that I had already paid. It looks like I pissed my self and when I left the owner had told them I didnt pay and had someone follow me out to pay car basically saying Groupon is didnt then what I paid, started arguing withe in front of my child. I have never been so embarrassed or insulted in my life. I understand its a learning place, but dont have students on the field when they are Clearly not ready to work on actual people yet.

I started going To PMTS Sacramento in November 2013 and i was in a smaller class and i had a wonderful Core teacher who actually taught me somethings and a better way of doing what i already knew. The staff are Nice and have a willingness to help if you are not sure you can ask and they have no problem showing you until you get it. Im excited about the many events the school always has for us. Would never go back!! Went for color n highlights 2 different girls did my hair at the same time so my highlights were waayy off half of them started an inch down my head I had to go back twice for fixing and still wasnt right. I would never go back its worth the money to get it done right

I had an amazing experiance almost a year ago, so when i wanted to get my hair colored with highlights for the very first time i decided to go here as i am on a budget one of the main reasons i have never colored my hair before so on 9/19 i went in to get full highlights and a cut. I had a wedding i was to be in as a bridesmaid the next day was so looking forward to have my hair looking amazing. I go in for my appt the girl very nice and friendly starts putting my foils in and geta about 3/4 the way though my hair then walks away and comes back with her learning leader who then looks though my hair im a lil confused at this point. Then the leader leans forward and informs me i have lice and that school policy i cant be there, which i understand. They then start pulling all the foils from my hair inform me they cant wash my hair at the bowls or they will have to shut them down i understand so the spray my hair down with water bottle and tell me to go straight home and wash my hair im so freaking out at this point, i get to my car and im balling my eyes out i get home wash all the developer out of my hair and have my husband and 2 sisters start going though my hair. They find NOTHING!!!!! No lice at all just a lil dandrift, so i have 2 more people check my hair and still NOTHING!!! I had to attend the wedding with half done highlights.i have no idea when i can go back to have it fixed i called today 9/22 to see if they can squeeze me in and they said no they are booked they dont have anything till Thursday i work 6 days a week and cant get there before they close so who knows when and if i will get my hair fixed, i was so embarrassed at the salon and then at the wedding trying to explain why i only had half done highlights. I understand about if i did have lice getting meet out of there to not spread it but i didnt have them and now i cant get my hair fixed unless i take another day off from work.

Alondra #2927 who does my roller sets is simply AMAZING! I went to the other Paul Mitchell school located on Madison but the girl graduated and it was tough finding someone else to do the style correctly. I will definitely get her name and put it here for everyone to give her the credit she well deserves. I also appreciate her professionalism and willingness to learn and not get scared when someone knows what they want. Theres another girl there (name begins with a G) that is very polite. Although she doesnt do my hair, each time I go, she speaks and greats me with a smile....I actually like talking with her. **NEW** If it were possible, Id rate this school a zero. I swear, you find great stylists but incompetent other people who ruin the experience of this school. Alondra was one of the -only- students willing to LEARN how to do a correct rollerset and because she behaved like the true professional she is...she excelled at it each time I allowed her to do that style for me! I also didnt mind the male team leader who was always there...he was pretty nice. On the other hand, when it comes to the majority at the front desk team leaders who don’t listen and pricing, thats another totally different story. I really felt treated professional by the girl who WAS always at the front desk with dreds (I believe thats what she has). She not only knew my name but was always respectful, quick and kind. The problem happened when someone else began to take control of the front desk. Upon my last and final appointment, a young girl told me that my future appointments will be charged double of what I have been paying for months! I also purchased a Groupon and thats what really sent this school downhill. The Groupon clearly indicates that I am getting a deal for paying through them for 1. deep conditioning 2. cut 3. S-T-Y-L-E. Well, lo and behold, the illiterate definition for this school of the term style means...BLOWDRY. I have asked -several- people especially my white & Latina friends if they ever considered a style a blowdry. I asked them especially because their hair does curl a lot just with a blowdryer and brush. Their response was a simple NO and looked at me as if I was crazy. This school charged me the -full- amount for a rollerset and wash all because of THEIR definition of style….smh. The email I received from this schools educational leader Sarah Serbic, was seemingly with remorse but all she did was state she ‘understands how I felt’ while in the -same- response stating that THEIR definition, although different from the entire world is just different and there’s nothing she will do! She also took an unnecessary opportunity to reiterate the prices for me as if I didn’t know them not addressing my concerns about the prices being told to me INCORRECTLY at the front desk and the pricing issue with Groupon because of their wack definition of the term style. So, on top of paying the $15 for Groupon’s cut, deep conditioning and STYLE, I had to pay an EXTRA $15 for what I regularly pay for a wash and rollerset which in all actuality in a logical definition is a style! She knew that I used my first Groupon for myself in which resulted with no issue because that day, all I wanted was a blowdry and wash anyways BUT when it came to my child using her portion of the Groupon, she wanted a rollerset -STYLE-. I Then asked Sarah why they didn’t at least charge me half of $15 considering I should only be paying for the rollerset part and NOT the wash considering when I used my Groupon, I didn’t pay extra for my wash. She ignorantly told me that the $15 for a rollerset of which I have been paying all along for months is solely for the rollerset whether a customer gets their hair washed or not, WHAT!!??? Doesnt end there sadly, one of the new front desk clerks told me that the true price for a rollerset & WASH was $30 and that all my future appointments would be charged as such. Upon questioning and complaining as I a -customer- has every right to do via EMAIL I was banned from this school...smh

Paul Mitchell the School Sacramento is a great place to get a salon experience for an afordable price. I have gotten hair cuts, Kera triplex treatments and also have gotten color Ive always left happy and never disappointed. On my most recent visit I cut close to 9 inches off my hair I was really nervous becasue I dont like cutting my hair too short but I was ready for a change, the Future professional that did my hair did a very good job and my hair came out exactly how I wanted it. I have also recomended my sister and she goes in about once a month.
