Scrambling to find my son his instrument after an unpleasant experience/mishap with another music store, I called this store and Shepherd was so extremely helpful. He rushed to make sure I had the instrument as soon as possible so that my son didn’t miss his lesson. I appreciate this so much!

At 62yo, the last time I played a cello was when I was 14. Dustin, the store manager, made me feel so comfortable and answered my many questions without a hint of irritation. I decided to rent for a month or two to make sure I really wanted one--and he took care of the rental quickly and with a smile. He readily answered my further questions via email. And when I showed up 3 weeks later to purchase, he took his time and helped me decide which one by asking me questions about my experience with the rental. He definitely helped me feel more comfortable picking up an instrument after a 48-year gap. Ill be using M&A for all my music needs--and definitely when Im ready to upgrade. :) And if youre reading this and you havent played in decades--DO IT. Its like riding a bike--only way more melodic.

Had an awesome guy named Dustin (give him a raise) because he was very friendly and knowledgeable and even gave me some unexpected discounts. Definitely recommend their store.

Selection is OK, prices on everything other than the instruments themselves are double what you can easily find on Amazon and the service is PAINFULLY slow...like they’re going out of their way to make every transaction as long and obnoxiously complicated as possible. Seriously, only go there if you’re in a pinch and if there’s more than 2 customers ahead of you in line (and you don’t have 30 minutes to waste), do yourself a favor, turn around and walk out.

The manager Joshua, was very helpful in helping my nephew with purchasing his first guitar and setting up the lessons. He went above and beyond to find the best instructor suited for my nephew. Staff is friendly and provided superior customer service every visit!

I didn’t get a book that I ordered in the shipment I received even the invoice stated it was to be in the box. It took about two weeks to receive my order even though when placing the order it was to be shipped out within 2-3 business days. I get the order and am frustrated because my daughter can’t start her lessons without this book. I call customer service and the lady said she would email the hub and couldn’t give me a time for how long it would take to receive the book. I call the next day again and the hub hasn’t even responded to customer services email. I understand things get messed up but it seems like once I paid for the items it was no longer their concern if the order were correct. I was told to drive almost 40 minutes to the nearest store for the book or call and see if they could ship it to me. Why is it my responsibility to contact their stores for a messed up order. I call 2 separate stores and and the second store am told I need the managers approval to ship it. I get a call today from a store associate saying I can pick up the book when I can get there. I state that the book needs shipped. She says that she isn’t a manager and they will need to get back with me. Is this a joke to you people. I already paid almost $100 for all of these materials. I’m on a budget and I can’t just drive an hour away for a book that was supposed to be at my house over a week ago now. I don’t even know what to do at this point but to order it from amazon. I will be returning the instrument after the rental trial and going somewhere where the customer matters after the money is spent.

Sunday I went to this store to pick up a starter percussion set for my son for band. They had no more and took my information and stated they would check with their Frederick store. Assuring me that the manager comes this way all the time and can drop one off and get back to me. After Tuesday arrived I initiated a phone call to them to learn that that had never happened and they would call now and call me back. Receiving a call back and learning the Frederick store had none in stock as well. I was then informed trucks were delivered on Thursday and they could put in and assured me... again... well here it is Thursday @330 pm and I have to initiate another call to the store to find out nothing came and they didn’t receive an email until later this afternoon that they had one coming but unfortunately it would not be here today. I have been promised this set for my son for school by Friday and here we are the day before and I will shopping else where and hopefully not disappointing my son since a professional can’t deliver their end of customer service. I would never recommend Music and Arts nor will I ever use them.

This place is great! Everybody is friendly and helpful and they’ll do their best to meet your needs, even driving personally to a different store location to pick an instrument up for you if it isn’t in their store stock! Dan is the best!

We’ve been coming here for years for both lessons and musical instrumental help. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and will work to get you an answer if they somehow don’t know it. Definitely recommend.

Friendly, helpful environment, great experience and service and reasonable pricing. Blake was top notch on the customer service side and helped me troubleshoot and repair an issue with my guitar. Went in for some guitar strings for a 12 string acoustic. Wasnt 100% sure exactly what to get. Manager was extremely helpful in helping me find exactly what I needed.

Id like to say that my experience shopping at the store was extremely good I made a call Friday about a book I was looking for and the girl I talked to found three and held them till I got there very nice and polite young lady and I went in today to have new strings put on my guitar and gentle men working took care of me right away and was also very nice I would not have a problem shopping there again nice staff and friendly.

Very disappointed in Music and Arts in Hagerstown. Ordered my daughters flute book on September 11. They no longer carried the book her teacher wanted. I was told it could take up to a week to come in but that it likely would be in in a few days, but I would receive a phone call. Checked two weeks ago. No book. Was told it had been shipped though. Stopped in today after still receiving no call. The book was on the sale shelf and not in the back set aside and no phone call as promised. The clerk was not very helpful, brusque, and the only excuse was mistakes happen. Now I realize mistakes are made but please make a more sincere apology rather than brushing me aside and bordering on rudeness.

These guys have always been a good to our band. Can always count on them to keep us stocked up on gear for gigs. Great staff and teachers!

At my Music and Arts, I went in with a problem with my alto saxophone. The people working at that time very kindly welcomed me in and quickly addressed my problem. They told me that my instrument did not need to sent off but there were a few tips and tricks I should use to enhance my playing. Overall, the this trip was a success!

The workers are very friendly, but they dont seem to know a whole lot about what they have. Wish they would be more helpful to my students to find what they need. They have what I need most of the time, but the radio is played so loudly that it is hard to concentrate on what you are trying to find.

My daughter had music lessons at Music and Arts Hagerstown for over a year. I have to say that the store was always impeccable, the staff always friendly and couldn’t do enough to make you feel welcome. I would absolutely recommend this location to any parent wishing to have their child learn an instrument.

Called a week ago to make sure we could test out the electronic drum sets before purchasing. Visited the store today and the employee told us they don’t have any amps for the drum sets then just walked away. Wasted trip to Hagerstown. Will not being purchasing anything from this store.

Rental through school, told 19.99 per violin. Plus 7 for insurance instead I get charged 80. Oh they should have explained. Were trained to..... ext save yourself the headach rent somewhere else or just buy one.

I used to shop here because it was the only music store in town. This place inspires me to go online where I can avoid the hassle . Oh how I miss Machen Music where the staff actually knew about music. I get that you are a guitar player in a band, but please dont pretend to be the musical expert or know anything about my instrument. I have probably forgotten more than you will ever know. Just let me browse in peace. I know what I am looking for. Also, I send my students in there for books and supplies. Please dont try to sell them stuff they dont need or get them to upgrade their instrument. By the way, most of the local band directors are annoyed with this place too.

This place has amazing cusomer service. Flew in from California for grammothers 90th birtjday. Got told Monday evening that she wanted a new hermonica which I know nothing about and we needed it by Saturday morning. So a family member told us about this place. Went down and talked with Duff about what we thought we were looking for and with his guidance I think we got what we needed. He also totally helped us out and is making sure the item will be delived by Friday.

The staff here has always been professional! I have purchased items here that were not in the store but on their web site with a ship to store delivery. I have also purchased items that are not even on their web site in the same manner. If you see it somewhere else you can probably get it at Music & Arts.

This Review is about the Wormans Mill Road store in Frederick, MDI took my son to meet a music teacher here and he really liked the teacher. I was told it would be $27. We went to our first lesson at Music and Art the next day and after the lesson I was trying to pay with the manager. I asked him if I could just pay for the full month in advance. He tells me that I have to sign their contract for lessons and pay with an automatic withdrawal every month on my credit card. I told him I preferred to just pay the months bill at my first lesson every month. He said it was just easier if I do the automatic payment, I declined again. Then He said If I didnt sign up for the automatic payment I would have to pay a 2 lesson deposit, I said fine, that was what I wanted to do. Then he tells me I will have to come in the first day of every month to pay. I told him I could just pay when I came in for my first lesson of the month, He told me, No, you cant do that. You have to pay the second you are billed + the deposit . I told him that didnt really any sense, so we would just pay the $ 27 for the days lesson and not do lessons at Music and Art. At which point he said if I didnt sign the contract for their monthlybilling. I would be charged $200+on my credit card to get out of the contract, I told him I didnt have a contract, that I was told that the lesson would be $27 and that was what I would pay. He again was adamant that I had to pay $200 + again. I declined and said I would pay for the lesson I had had that day. I also asked for the name of his manager, so I could talk to him about this and he said he couldnt give it to me.Its sad, because my son really liked the teacher, but seriously what a bait and switch scam.

Friendly staff. Not much here. I suppose this would be a decent spot to buy reeds or guitar strings but not if you are looking for state of the art gear.

I went into the store this morning to get a little practice amp. I was surprised to see that it was the same price that everyone has them listed on ebay.
