Our family could not be more satisfied with the excellent care our daughter receives at WCLC. We are greeted every morning with staff that is genuinely excited to welcome our daughter to school. Her teachers have been wonderful and the knowledge she has gained is incredible! Our daughter looks forward to going to school each morning and when we pick her up she can’t wait to tell us all about her day. We highly recommend this school to anyone we meet!

I am very disappointed with the Wave Learning Center. I pulled my 12 months old son out of the waddlers classroom after one very stressful week. The teachers were non-attentive to the children. Even with the four teachers in the room, two or three seemed to be doing something and only one teacher would be looking after the children. My son was new to daycare and needed time to adjust to the new environment, but he received minimal attention from the teachers. They didn’t put any effort into feeding my baby. He ended up not eating almost all of these days, as the teachers simply left the food in front of him and then threw the food away after he would not take it. My son was left crying on the floor for a very long time. The teachers didn’t bother to pick him up to console him. They have cameras in the room, however it was extremely painful to watch from work. The classrooms were also not clean and they took no precautions for the COVID-19, besides requiring parents to wear masks at drop off. We will not be coming back and will not recommend this daycare to anyone. I feel silly for waiting for one year for a spot to open up. It was a horrible week that I can never get back.

My two children have been attending WCLC for the last 4 years. We have experienced many of their wonderful teachers and staff in that time. As a parent it is always difficult to leave your children in the care of someone else, however, the teachers have always gone the extra mile in making my children feel welcome and loved while at school. The staff is friendly and are always following up with my kids even after they move on to another classroom. Their curriculum fully prepared my older child for elementary school both educationally and socially. I am so happy with my experience here and would highly recommend.

This place is one to question. Recently my family has went through one of the most horrifying things you could imagine as a parent (an unexpected - unexplained - unresolved - uninvestigated trauma (injury) of their child). For weeks my young toddler aged cousin was in the hospital (because the injury was clearly that bad - resulting in surgery and recovery) — this child care center has still not released the video of what happened with the baby and her present teacher and has publicly humiliated and turned their backs on my family. If you are considering placing your child here for care please ask the administration how they resolved this issue. Please ask what are protocols for teachers who are under investigation but still working there! I can promise you. They have no answers. Think twice about leaving your child here. Or anywhere for that matter. Some places have 1 star or bad reviews for a reason.

My mother was diagnosed unexpectedly with stage 4 terminal cancer and we were told she had days/weeks go live. I had to take an unpaid leave from work and pull my child out suddenly to be with her in her final days in NC. When I called WCLC to inform them of the situation, they insisted that I still pay the next months tuition, per their handbook stating that I had to give 30 day notice. Since my daughter was not to step in there one time that next month, and the extremely extenuated circumstance (my moms dying and Im temporarily without income) they showed no concern, sympathy or care. Policy is policy. Sick. This from a church no less. Same church daycare that my kid got hand foot and mouth disease 4 times in two years. It is worth noting the infant class is spectacular. The lead, Megan and her team are outstanding. Nothing but great reviews for her and her team. Anything past infant room is dicey.

A mother who worked at the daycare got fired after her daughter “mysteriously” ended up with a dislocated jaw. How do you people fired the mother but not the teacher who was suppose to be watching her. Why wasn’t the mother able to see the video?! CPS should’ve been called and I’m hoping it’s not to late to press charges this is disgraceful and unprofessional and everyone needs to know about this!

Awful. Your story has made it to Florida. Just from reading others reviews it seems youre pretty great at being insensitive to parents and their blessings. I hope you get shut down and you lose your income just like that poor childs mother. Nobody will turn their head to this.

This place sounds very unsafe for our babies and not supportive of parents nor takes blame for their mishaps. They need to be thoroughly investigated and shut down immediately!

This place is HORRIBLE. between all the stories and reviews I’ve read I would NEVER send my child here no matter what. They seem to be careless, unsanitary, and don’t hold responsibility for anything they’ve done wrong. I lost it when I found out that they gave someone’s son another mother’s breast milk and REFUSED to inform the parents about the mother the milk was from. And not only the current situation of them dislocating a child’s jaw and then firing the said child’s mother. While also refusing to show her the video of that day. This place needs to be shut down for the safety of children who attend this “care” center.

As I have had time to recollect my thoughts about this place. My feelings are still the same, I will never have anything positive to stay about this childcare center. In the beginning it was okay. Leadership never answered emails, communication was horrible and the curriculum wasn’t centered around classroom needs. I stick to my story when I say the kids don’t learn anything. Once MY daughters jaw “dislocated” the job quickly began harassing my daughter and I. Once she was allowed to come back to school with a doctors note, the school sent us back home for 1.5 weeks to “ease tension”, the teacher being Investigated stayed at work durning the time. I came back to work with a write up and was put on a 60 day probation from breaking very minor rules (that every staff has broken). Not even 3 weeks later I was fired for not being a team player and “hearsay” that I was using inappropriate language around my kids. Which isn’t true at all, but it was enough to fire me. Them letting me go was a blessing. I could never work for them again and I think that anyone that associates themselves with this childcare is just as bad as the “business director”. All they see is dollar signs. I hope that once our story gets out, parents begin to pull their children out because if it can happen to my daughter is can happen to anyone else. Look how they treated a mother/ employee. This is a well known church in Virginia Beach and I would think they would do better.UPDATE : unfortunately because the school will not cooperate with myself and parts of the investigation CPS closed the case stating that it was evident that Marley was hurt at school but they cannot prove how she was hurt. At the end of the day I did not bring my child to school with a dislocated jaw there is no reason why I Marley should have gone through this with no answers to her parents. Luckily with the support I have received from the community we are trying to move on from this but it’s hard knowing that the school is still open with cases like this happening in their care. I also reached out to the pastor of the church asking if we could have a sit down about the situation and I received an email stating that the church has nothing to do with the childcare center or how the “business manager”Geoph beard runs/handles things. Yet Geoph works for the church and the children’s center.

The first semester my son was her was great. He was a year old and the teachers were kind. The second semester in the 18 month classroom was terrible. They treated my son like an outsider. I watched one of the helpers yell at my son as soon as he walked into the room. He fell hard enough to get scabbed. Which is fine he was 18 months but nobody mentioned it to me. I had to call them and ask what happened to my son. The last straw happened when they didnt feed my son lunch one day. He came home crying that he was hungry. I checked his bag and his lunch was still in there. On further investigation I found out the left him and 20 other 18 month olds alone and strapped to chairs for 20 minutes. Any of the children could have choked and died in that time. When I confronted the faculty about it they accused me of being at fault because he didnt have a lunch bag, even though he had been using the same sandwich case and backpack or the last 7 months, and even though no one had mentioned they would prefer I use a lunch bag. If you use this daycare please ask for the camera codes and monitor your children!!!!!!!!!! Because they charge a lot of money and act like they care when they dont.
