We have been a part of the First Discovery family for a little over 8 months now and we could not be more thrilled to have such a wonderful place to send our son. Our son is happy, learning, he loves going to school. His vocabulary has improved drastically since starting at FD and is definitely picking up incredible traits/mannerisms from his teachers/fellow classmates. We receive a detailed report each day including descriptions of the lesson plans as well as pictures of our son. First discovery creates a safe, welcoming atmosphere for our son, the staff is smart, caring, friendly, patient. Our son will definitely be here to stay! Theyre always available to chat and answer any question. Couldnt ask for more! Kairo loves you guys!

We love First Discovery! They are friendly, reliable, knowledgeable, and always quick to respond to questions or concerns. The teachers are great and always cheerful when greeting our son in the mornings.

Truthfully the best childcare center Ive worked at in my 10 years in the business. The management is amazing, helpful, and cares about you. My coworkers all help each other out and are great teachers! Its a really great environment. Cant turn your nose up at a week off for Christmas either! 😊

My son been going to First discovery since he was an infant. I really do admire how much the staff loves him and have taken really good care of him. He is now in Jr Pre-K and it can be challenging getting along with others however, with positive and loving reinforcement that his teachers shows does let me know that they care. They are professionals and I appreciate the director and all the teachers.

My three year old has been attending for the past year. We are very thankful for the steps the daycare provided in the wake of Covid-19 and the shutdowns. Their communication is excellent and they make it very easy to contact them. Also I get updates and photos of my child all day. Its wonderful. Well worth the tuition for my son to attend. We love being apart of the First Discovery Family.

My 5 year old has attended First Discovery since she was barely able to walk. Still to this day, she gets so excited to come to school. Even on the weekends, she’s asking me if we can go! The teachers are so loving and create amazing bonds with each of the children they care for. We are always greeted in the mornings with big smiles & a hug for my little one. There’s no where else around quite like FD ☺️

FD at Indian River is a great company all around, not just as my employer and work family but also as wonderful care for my son! It gives me so much comfort to know he is well cared for and welcomed in every day with smiling faces!

First Discovery has been absolutely amazing to our family over the past 5 years. It’s not easy to find a place that you feel 100% comfortable with knowing your babies are safe, loved, and cared for. FD is this place for us and easily one of the best decisions we have made.

My daughter only attended for one week here before I pulled her and took her elsewhere. Her very first day here she was bit on the face by another child so badly that the marks remained for 2 weeks. The very same week--and only week she was there she was bit on the hand by another child while sitting in a teachers lap being read to. There was a much older preteen child sitting in the room with her and the other 1 to 2 year olds in the classroom two of the days that week which seemed odd and it was not explained why an older child was just hanging out with the young kids. The teachers there were really nice but you could tell that they were way understaffed and overworked. When picking up my daughter they always seemed flustered and unsure of what to say. My daughters paperwork said she ate particular things that I knew she wouldnt eat at home so I asked how they got her to eat that and was told oh, that is not right she didnt eat that or any of this. What drew me here was that it seemed diverse with a good curriculum but, I dont feel like there is an actual curriculum that is being followed. I personally feel like the curriculum is staged but not followed. The keyfob entry setup was a great concept and was an added layer of comfort for me leaving my child there but again, just for looks as half the time the door was already opened or unlocked anyway so just as the curriculum was great in theory, the entry system was a nice representation of a process that wasnt actually used properly. The quality of care that you are presented with during a tour is not the quality of care you receive once your child is there. It was clear to me that they are only concerned with making as much profit as possible rather than quality of care for kids and employees.***As per the response received for my review. Those are not my childrens names. In fact I only have 1 child that attended your facility for 1 week in February of 2020. This review is 100% for this daycare location.****

My son is almost 20 months and has been here a since early summer and we love it! I was worried about the transition as he hadnt previously been in a center setting & he has food allergies. The director and his teachers and the entire staff made the transition effortless. My son is absolutely thriving! The drastic difference in his social skills, how he lights up when he sees his teachers and friends, the way they care for him like he is their own-priceless. Bonus points because the routine of daycare has helped him finally sleep through the night. Can not thank these ladies enough for how they love my little. We also utilize the Newport News location and the care he receives is across the board. Thank you to the entire staff! Would definitely recommend, 1000x over!

Absolutely love this daycare. My 4 year old and. 1 year old attend first discovery. My 4 year old has been attending since he was 2 and he loves it. But Mrs. Victoria in the toddler room is by far the best. She is my 1 year old daughter‘s teacher and she is literally my daughters comfort blanket. Mrs. Victoria is the only person that my daughter will reach for every single morning. I love Mrs. Victoria for everything that she does to make sure my daughter stays comfortable so seriously Mrs. Victoria you are not allowed to leave this daycare until my kids grow up and go to school

I have two daughters in the school age classroom and I couldnt be more thankful to the center and its staff. My girls did not like where they attended before and Im thrilled that they love first discovery! Theyre so excited to experience new things this summer with the awesome summer camp activities that have been planned. Until then, the homework help after school is great and gives me one less thing I have to do when we get home at the end of the day. First discovery is truly an amazing place and I highly recommend it!

My name is Lauren and I work at first discovery as well as bring my two school age kids to it afterschool. The team is a giant family as well as the families! The kids are loved and cared for as if they were our own kids. My boys love coming with me to first discovery and my oldest son has in his mind that when hes old enough hes coming to work there. Victoria, Candy and Jessica are amazing leaders and they make me happy to work everyday for a great independently owned company. Thanks first discovery!

My daughter has been apart of the First Discovery program since she was 2 years old. She is now five and about to begin Kindergarten. She has become well prepared for Kindergarten because of the classroom environments, the well trained teachers, and great support system of all the First Discovery staff. She went from having a shy and timid personality to a vibrant, free spirited little girl. I cant thank First Discovery enough for helping my daughter blossom as much as she has.

I couldnt think of a better place for my daughter to go each day and learn as much as she does! Shes been going to First Discover for over 1 year (starting in the infant room) and has made so much progress in her development! Her teachers have always been a big part in wanting to know what they could do to help her learn and develop! My daughter is excited every day that she gets to go and see her teachers and friends! She hates leaving and always wants to stay when I come to pick her up. The management is super friendly and easy to talk to if there are any questions or concerns! The meals and snacks each day are great quantity and quality! Id recommend First Discovery to anyone looking for a daycare!

The teachers are great! My son has learned so much b/c of the things they do and all of the activities they provide. He loves his teachers and loves his friends! We love our First Discovery family and are very thankful for all they do!

My son is four and loves first discovery. We had him in a few centers before this one and didnt feel like the staff cared for our child. All of the teachers and staff are sweet and care for our son like family. I couldnt have found a better place!

My children have been going to first discovery since Jan of 2015. Miss Jessica is the assistant director and is fantastic. She has been great to work and is a very caring person. I would recommend this daycare to anyone who wants a loving place for there kids while they are at work.

I really appreciate the caring teachers at First Discovery. As a first time mom and self proclaimed control freak, it was very hard leaving my daughter with anyone. First Discovery was very patient with me and all my requests. Most importantly I have a smart and thriving little girl thanks to all their help!

Were very happy with the welcoming atomosphere and helpfulness of the staff! The directors are very informative, creative, and a couple of the most caring individuals youll ever meet! Everyone refers to each child as a friend and you feel that respect for their individuality throughout the building.

I have had both my kids enrolled in this school. It is nothing short of amazing. The teachers really make the kids feel loved. Now that my oldest daughter is in public school, she begs to come to school with her younger sister. Walking into the classrooms you can see all the art and activities that the kids do. You can also feel the love that these teachers have for the kids. Management is also fantastic! Candy and Jessica top my expectations as directors. If Ive ever had a problem they have been professional, and on top of it! Thanks FDCDC for loving my kids and being awesome!

Weve had our son in First Discovery since he was 1 and he is now going on 3. I can honestly say I was scared to death to leave my only child in daycare without knowing who would be watching him at such a young age.. The day I stepped into First Discovery, every single staff member greeted us with smiling faces, happy to see that we were adding to their family. Their staff is AMAZING and Im more than pleased to leave my child in their care (and even take him when I have a day off because he enjoys it so much). Not only do my sons teachers know him, but every single teacher AND the kids in their class all know his name and tell him bye, see you tomorrow! when we come pick him up. I love how they provide two snacks and lunch that are healthy and that he enjoys. All in all I would 1000% recommend first discovery to all of my friends and family!!

Its really hard letting your children go, terrifying actually. My son began here and like every other parent I was skeptical, but soon realized my fear was for nothing. The staff is amazing, and they treat the kids like family. There is an amazing atmosphere and a surreal amount of love in the building. Highly recommend it.

It wasnt easy finding a daycare for my daughter. I look into 12 different daycares. Then I came across First Discovery, they are hands down the BEST Ive seen! The staff is very professional, friendly, and passionate about there job. The meal menu is great (FDCDC is even flexible if a family wants to bring there own meal for child), business hours fit our schedule perfectly, and most importantly our daughter is comfortable there (never a dull moment ☺).I highly recommend First Discovery to anyone looking for a daycare. My daughters been going there since she turned 1 love it there they are our second family

The search of a facility to take care of your children can be a daunting and tiresome task for any parent and especially that of a family with their first child. Like myself, I am sure others seek guidance through peers, family, co-workers, the internet, and other various sources as they search for a facility that will ultimately spend many hours caring for their child. To my family we had a variety of expectations that we had set as we searched the local area for a place for our newborn to be cared for as we worked during the day. In our experience we had narrowed down what we had thought was the best place for our child only to have an unsettling feeling two to three weeks prior to our child starting daycare. Desperate to find a solution and better option for our child we were recommended to First Discovery Child Development Center. We visited the facility unannounced and were greeted by the current center director. Candy Jons and our very first interaction with her is the primary reason that we selected FDCD to care for our child. She was courteous, polite, showed the facility, introduced us to the staff, and provided a sense of warmth and comfort that eased our minds and made the decision easy. The level of comfort didnt decline after our first interaction but actually increased as we noticed the level of care and attention that was and has been dedicated to our child on a consistent basis. Each classroom has a variety of teachers and staff that assist throughout the day and from my perspective the care and concern that is shown for the children at this facility does not fall short. Although each individual room has their primary caregivers it is not uncommon for the other members of the staff to say hello or goodbye to her by name. The facility also has a rather open feeling where most of the walls are low and visibility throughout the building allows you to easily see into each area. If you are on the fence or just started looking for a care facility for your child give the folks at First Discovery Child Development Center a call.

My daughter has been attending this school for years Mrs.Victoria the owner is amazing. Mrs. Jenny is the sweetest director. They have great learning curriculum for all ages. The class are separated but open so every child interacts with all the teachers and for the toddlers and above the interact with all the other students. Im a single mom and Im unable to pick up ny child till later Ms. Taylor and Mrs. Lauren help ny daughter with her homework. Ms.Taylor is the school age teacher. I checked out other big known daycares. I didnt like that they had a bunch of teenagers basically taking care of the kids this is not the case all the teachers and staff here are very well educated and carry themselves well. In 4 years I have never encountered a single issue with this daycare. They care for your child as if it were there own.

My children came home every other week with a bruise on them and 2 of them were unexplained. I called CPS on them and they retaliated by kicking my children out via email yesterday smh Jessica has a very disrespectful mouth. Do not send your children here there will always be a issue! And their policy is a joke smh....
