The 15 classes were great. They were taught in a exciting way that made class fun. And Matt was just a great part of this driving school, he is very nice and understanding. But when it came to the drives, with Matt I had a great time, but then I had a very rude instructor the rest of my drives. On my first drive, he became aggressive very quickly, even though it was my first time behind the wheel, and he knew that, he was yelling at me throughout the drive. By my second drive, there were complaints about who knows what. Instead of settling this in a nice way, STEVE decides to pull me out and yell at me in front of everyone that was in the building. At this point, I have done nothing wrong, I was just there to do my drive.I go on to my next drive and Steve seems to be holding a grudge against me, constantly giving me a hateful look and on the drive, yelling at me. Besides Steve, everyone in the building is nice and helpful, I would totally recommend this school to anyone, as long as they avoid Steve.

They had a habit of changing times and then we were told we were incorrect. Argumentative. Incorrect information on their website and voicemail regarding testing times. When I went in to clarify they said, oh yea that’s our old information. What??? One of the male drive instructor is very rude & intimidating. Went to another place for both the written and final drive and was much happier. Would not go back.

My mom signed my twin brother and I at big johns driving school we had missed a few drives they told us they would remind us if our drives when it was time we’ll that only took place a few times then I did not pass my first test he was so Gracious enough to let everybody know in class but that’s what happened and I was the worst one who does that and called himself a teacher so my mom tried to go in there and get us we signed up for half the cost and he says that we can’t do it now because he’s it’s been too long but he told us that we had plenty of time to do it there is no timeframe on to get it done and then today he says there was in that were supposed to pay the whole $500 again apiece which is $1000 my mom doesn’t have that kind of moneyWe waited that long because we didn’t have the money to come in and do it at that time and now we do and now he’s turning us away in acting like nothings wrong with that but it’s not his problem is ours he talks about unprofessional things during class like ghost stories house haunted DJ DJ times the old life that I used to live how is that pertinent to what we’re learning he’s a horrible instructor harbor teacher and he has no compassion for anybody other than himself now my mom is out all this money and there’s nothing we can do about it so thanks Matt

There was one day where my kid came home from drivers school telling me that when she went on her drive with her driver instructors, they always keep on stressing her out when it comes to driving. When I drive with her she is completely fine and then when she drives with the instructors, they always keep raising their voices and she keeps on making mistakes due to the drivers instructors stressing her out. I would not recommend this place for your kids at all. Please take them to a better place.

I think in my opinion this driving school is the best. For those of u who dont know Matt hes that chubby guy if u get him ur going to have a great time, hes cool i like him. idk about the other guy but Matt is cool. Overall awesome school.👍 5 stars

The owner would call me but never would text me after to let me know it’s my drive, they would always blame everyone else but them on there problems and when I would schedule a drive, they told me in the beginning I would get a drive once a week but once I schedule my 2nd one in early January, I don’t get it until mid March and I think that is bs because the owner had an attitude with my mom on the phone when we wanted to restart and would not let us restart since it’s been “2 months” after

Drives are terrible. The driver instructors get mad really easily when making a mistake. The drivers test are very confusing. Honestly, I would recommend 911 drivers school.

Everyone was nice and helped answer all my questions. My experience was easy - nothing felt difficult in receiving any sort of information. Highly recommend! Remember to study / practice well! Good Luck.

Big johns is a horrible school for drivers Ed or any of the sorts

Last Summer i came here for my 3rd driving test attempt,was in a calm,aware of my surroundings having previously learned from my mistakes,coming from camas and learning the area by memory i passed with a strong confidence.

The folks here are awesome! Very friendly and helpful, I was welcomed walking in the door despite the fact they were quite busy at the time. No BS, just decent, REAL people. I was kind of nervous about testing and they put me at ease with genuine conversation, smiles and good attitudes. Great prices and the customer service was way above and beyond, making this place stand out compared to the other driving schools I considered. I wish there were more than 5 stars I could give them!

When we entered into Big Johns we were greeted with smile. Mr. John was very friendly and very truthful about the tests they do. I had taken my child to 2 other schools and both the other schools told us that the test was really hard and made us feel very uncomfortable. I totally recommend that other parents and teens go to Big Johns because it was inviting and less stressful. Thank you Big John.

This is Horrible!! plan for a month long class and not getting to drive with a instructor until after the class course is over a month later !! then painfully trying to schedule drives with the front desk for the next 5 or 6 months!!! I wouldnt recommend this to my enemy.

I took both my written test in my drivers test today I just walked in and they were able to take me. I PASSED! all the staff were so so sweet I didn’t feel nervous they made me feel more confident and when I went to take my drivers test The instructor was so good at making me feel calm and he was so funny so sweet and I was really able to focus without feeling nervous! I am 100% recommend big johns driving school because they were more than amazing!

I did my classes at this place and they were fine non educated but entertaining. But there drive test was terrible. The driving instructor for the test is the only one they have and he try’s to intimidate you before and during the test, he is very rude and try’s everything to get you to fail the test. The owner of the place is very nice guy but if you take a drive test with them I guarantee you’ll fail the first time even if you do everything correctly. DON’T WASTE THE MONEY FOR THE TEST.

I am a current student here! I love the people, theyre all so nice and sweet. The fact they take so much time to teach so many kids is so nice. And they have their own cars to drive with breaks on the passengers side of the car if the student doesnt stop soon enough. Its $400 to start which is actually kinda good in my opinion.

This review is reflecting back on a some years ago when I went here and they had a different owner. Very nice staff and instructors, only 15 classes If I remembered right. What can I say got through it with no problems of any kind and got my license, and they seemed to teach most everything a new driver should if I recall correctly. Sucks to hear that recently they have been becoming really unorganized since under new management. Dont know how true the rumors are but have heard it from multiple people. None the less a good place last time I was there.

75 Dollars to take the drivers test one time totally a rip off. Go to DMV you can take it twice for $35. This place is horrible.

Nice people, Very unorganized. They canceled so many of my daughters drives because of scheduling issues. It has taken my daughter 3 time longer to finish because of the mistakes they made. Could not get my last daughters final drive scheduled for over 3 weeks. They told us to go to there Camas school to finish which is 20 miles away. Just a overall bad experience. Go to 101 driving school. My Son goes there right now and they are amazing. Going to write them a review next.

Big Johns has been a wonderful environment for me and all my classmates. Im happy I got to learn from some of the best instructors. Many people complain about them on here but what they might not understand is they take everyones safety on the road seriously and wont pass you unless you truly are ready. Really?? All these negative comments? I generally dont like people and I just met the most genuine and straight forward instructor and staff by far. I would gladly recommend this school/testing site to all my family and friends. And I dont send them to just anyone. All these negative Nancys that couldnt pass their tests and are bitter leaving bad feedback out of spite. A++

Go Big John GO! No idea why anybody needs to go to a driving school its not that hard....OH WAIT drive around Vancouver and you realize that half the town needs to come here! All you dummies not using turn signals, jacka**s coming across 3 Lanes of highway to take their exit AND DOPES ON PHONES ALL OVER many of you should come see Big John! Thank God there are driving schools like this to help you!

This is the best driving school out there!!! Matt the teacher/owner makes the classes really interesting and he makes sure that you are taken care of. On our last class he did something super amazing but I cant tell you, you have to find out yourself!!! 10 out of 10

Need to teach the instructors the laws of the road. Keep right except to pass, unless of course theres a left turn lane near, that your taking. Older female instructor, teaching a young girl to drive on 500 in the left lane at less than speed, holding up traffic at lunch time.

I went and got my license today and when I saw the older lady who was to administer my test i got nervous because of the negative things Id read, but I honestly cannot understand what the other reviewers here were talking about . She was pleasant, polite, and made my driving test experience an absolute breeze. Would recommend to any and all people needing instruction classes or tests.

Staff was great! Really took the time to understand my situation and helped me pass my tests so I could get my license. Definitely recommend them!!! Thanks again guys!

The instructor was actually too big to fit in my car and was really pissed and pushy about me paying another 45$ to rent one of their vehicles. He was pretty pissed about it and failed me before we even left the parking lot over me not giving them an extra 45$. Dang I never thought I would read so many bad reviews about this place though. I remember seeing the tan ford Taurus thats owned by this place after hours driving like SHI+ but I still went anyway. Dont go here.

My daughter and I had a great experience at Big Johns. All of the instructors, save one, were patient and kind, informative and helpful, all around great teachers. The desk staff was equally helpful and kind. However the drive test instructor is abrasive and rude. She did fail my daughter by four points, and thats fine, if she didnt make the grade then she deserves to have to practice and take it again. However this woman told my daughter that because she failed (by 4 points) she would get in a really bad accident and hurt someone. THIS is not OK, this is rude and unfeeling, and this woman has no business being around young people. I know its not nice to call names but she is a... Professor Umbridge, to put it nicely!!! Her demeanor is condescending; her passenger manner is dictator like. With my youngest daughter, I would use Big Johns again, but I would make sure she never had to drive with this woman and she will take her test at the DMV.

I took drivers ed here back in 2015 and it was terrible!! Class instructor literally NEVER talked about anything related to driving and only talked about himself. They charged outrageous amounts of money and I learned NOTHING. Driving instructors were rude and offered no real advice about safe driving. I failed my driving test by 1 point because they had been teaching me the whole time to do the OPPOSITE of what I was supposed to. Finally went to Drivan’s in Longview for lessons and couldn’t believe how badly Big John’s had failed me as a school. DO NOT GO HERE. DO NOT SEND YOUR KIDS HERE. They left me confused, insecure, and out hundreds of dollars for years!

It was amazing, we had so much fun, and even got pizza at the end to celebrate. I defiantly recommend this place.

I did my test with the man that owns this place and he was supper rude and didn’t care to tell me what curb to stop at he would just say “stop there” and i would ask to elaborate and he would sigh and get mad. This place was terrible and just made my anxiety worse.

I was a student here and I am starting to regret going to this school.Why? The following -The People.The only thing that was decent was about the people was the class teacher, very amazing guy. But as a teacher, he kept teaching the lessons multiple times. Same stories multiple times, same freaking videos, same topic. He had ZERO idea what class we were and what we were learning. This happened to all of our lessons. Besides him and the blonde head honcho, No one else was really even remotely nice.The Price.Do NOT be fooled by their price. It does not change. There is no special. Its a scam. Its literally the same price all year and the title simply changes from summer special to winter special. And btw, the price for the class does not include a drive test or a knowledge test. Those are extra expenses. Which is kind of ridiculous.My perk?The only perk I got out of the class price was -- If I brought an insured vehicle to use, I can do the drive test for free. Sounds good right? Except not. The person who does the drive test for both schools let his license expire and cannot actually do test with any student. They have done nothing to compensate for the kids like me that were really depending on that. I have to dish out more money to some other place because they screwed up. -- Why is that?

While I went here as a student several years ago, I remain close friends with the staff. They are amazing teachers and instill responsibility in future drivers and make it clear the responsibilities of the road all while being friendly with students and promoting a healthy environment for all students to learn, be safe, and be confident in their driving.

Don’t even try with this place! I was a student at the Camas location a couple years ago and tried getting ahold of them, but apparently the location is closed and there is nowhere online that says this. Google still has hours and a phone number with a voicemail. I tried COUNTLESS times to call the Orchards location over the course of a couple of weeks. Nearly every single time I was sent to voicemail. I tried all different times of each day. The first time I actually got ahold of them, they called me back and I then called back one minute later, no response. I was trying to get a drive test in before a specific date and by the time they actually contacted me a couple days later, they booked an ENTIRE WEEK worth of drives before someone(ME) who had been calling countless times. Another time they answered, I was put on hold for over ten minutes and they completely forgot about me. I went here because it’s where I took drivers ed, but I’m off to schedule with somewhere. This place is ansolutely ridiculous and needs to get their things straight!

If you are looking to do the drive for your license, dont waste your money here! They will make sure you have to come back and pay several times, and make up bs to not pass you! My child was intimidated and given instructions during the test which is not alloud and then because of the instructions given got confused and they auto failed him! They were rude and refused to give us a copy of his test. Instructor was texting and on phone during the test.We blew our money here and wish we would have started at the place we ended up, centerline driving school. They were a much better experience, treated is with compassion, kindness and what do ya know he passed with a very high score immediately after 2 fails at Big Johns!

Worst place ever. They made my brothers driving experience the worst, the process to get his license was 10 times longer than it would of been anywhere else due to their scheduling issues, constantly overbooking and just being irresponsible. Glad to be done with this place

Big Johns is very unprofessional. The drive instructor showed up late to my final drive twice, and they make false statements. They told me I could get my license early, because I passed all of my tests, but the DMV said I had to wait. Also they didnt teach me key information needed to drive. I dont recommend ths place to anyone, Big Johns is absolutely terrible.

The others here have already gone into the dictator old lady examiner (seriously, the MOMENT I saw her, I knew I was gonna fail. I stayed quite because I like to keep an open mind and think I could be wrong about her... No, the feel from her is not a trick/lack of judgement. Id even say itll be easier to drive with a gun to your head. Bold claim I know, but at least theyll give proper instruction as they have something to loose too. she just sits and gives riddles. What do I mean? You need to decode her instructions. Asking for clarification is met with silence. So youre stuck guessing on what she means.As for the tutor. VERY minimalistic, even ignoring some questions too.So for warming up/learning a thing or two (literally) this place is pretty okay(ish) BUT for the test, I do not recommend unless youre a robot who can decode instructions. Also, they choose the WORST cars and they know it (even complain about it) my foot kept getting stuck on something above the brakes though that was the least of my problems as her very existence destroyed my concentration (which isnt a good mix with her not very clear instructions)

Please NEVER send your children to this school.The owner doesnt report in incoming cash she pockets all of it. Most of their employees are over the age of 70.On several occasions employees have fallen asleep on students. One of their employees is a known drug dealer. Their cars are unsafe and they refuse to make changes.

Rather go to another place pay 30 bucks and get two chances instead of paying 20 to take a re test then have to pay 30 again if you fail.

The old man who was taking the driving test is a bitter old man if he wants to be disappointed at all just because of his bad temper, it is better that he leave his job and retire I mean the gift of the prosthesis, on the other hand the owner is much better
