Richard Osborn has been one of the best instructors I have ever met. He doesn’t just teach you how to defend yourself, he explains why you’re doing what you’re doing. He is tough on his students, because he wants us to be able to protect ourselves if we ever need to. We do banquets once a year, you get huge trophies, plaques, rings, bikes, gifts, we do bbq’s, we go out to eat, classes, we travel for tournaments, everyone is like family. He is very understanding, caring & smart. He doesn’t charge an excessive amount like these other schools, the prices never go up or change. We’ve been with Grand Master Richard Osborn for about 4 years now maybe a little longer, and we have no plans on ever leaving! So if you’re looking for that sign to take your children here to be taught to defend themselves, this is it! You won’t regret it!

Theres over 70 martial art schools in Springfield MO that you can take your kid to. But only one ran by an instructor that was inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame. This is real traditional Tea Kwon Do. No noodles here.. TCOB

They are amazing... Kids love it and its the most reasonably priced place in town not to mention the best with the kids... They dont push them they allow them to take their time and move up as they are ready!

I have trained under a few different instructors before joining Mr. Osborne in oct 2020. I earned my blue belt over a decade ago, and Mr Osborne honored that and worked with me to learn his style. He is by far the most accomplished and best instructor in the area. Focus on the basics, advanced, and katas every class. Don’t fall for the other classes offering you the introductory weekly rate, then charging you over $100 per person/month. Mr Osborne keeps his fees the same and they are the lowest in the area. His testing and tournament prices are also the lowest in the area, because he simply wants to make a difference, one white belt at a time. Don’t blow your money elsewhere and regret not starting with Mr Osborne today. No charge to stop by and watch a class, which he offers 6 days a week, multiple times per day. Thank you Mr Osborne!

There is no place that would care more for your kids, their development, or their success in martial arts. Mr. Osborn creates a family atmosphere and eliminates any barriers to the kids participating fully. I cannot express how thankful I am that my girls and I are part of that family.

I may be the wife of the Chief instructor, but this rating is for the Parents, spouses, and grandparents! (Of course, I believe Osborns offers the best instruction EVER!, my husband is the ONLY martial artist in the Missouri Hall of Fame, he was a Welter Weight Kickboxing Champion and he has won thousands of awards, he has a proven history of being the best). Back to the purpose of my review, the families of the students at Osborns Tae Kwon Do have got to be the best families ever! Not only do they provide support for their loved one in class, but they also encourage every student who attends to do their best and to achieve their goals. It is amazing how quickly these families welcome a new student into the family. I would encourage everyone to give Osborns a try!

We were recommended to Osborns from our karate school in KY when we relocated to MO. We put our son in martial arts initially to help him with focus and self discipline issues. We did not realize that it would not only help with those issues but that our son would find a sport that he is in love with and we would find a second family. We appreciate that the leaders not only can see the potential in our son but they are dedicated to helping him realize it and pull it out. We also are comforted by the self-defense training that the students receive. Knowing that our son could handle himself in an emergency situation brings a sense of security. If you are looking for solid training and close knit relationships, I highly recommend this school!

I have had the honor of helping to support Master Richards vision of educating children and grooming them for real life for some time now and view every dollar spent as a privilege. My Daughter started with Mr Osborn in September of 2014. She loves it. This child sleeps eats and lives martial arts. Her self confidence has improved by 100 percent, her grades have improved greatly, I would recommend Osbornstaekwondo for all kids and adults.

I tried Osborns school once. The instructor, Master Pentecost, explained things well, but repeatedly shamed the boys (the class was small that day and the four other students happened to be all boys) for their short comings. Admittedly, all of his critiques were accurate, but I believe in constructive criticism and positive instruction. In addition, I find it unprofessional for an instructor to ever tell a student to shut up (which happened several times during the class period) even if they are related. However, I did appreciate that they focused on the why aspect for the way they did blocks, kicks, and stances.

Osborns Tae Kwon Do is not only the best martial arts school in Springfield, I believe it also is the only school to have an instructor that is in the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame. Plus the message of anti-bullying is on point in todays social climate.

Great school and SGM Osborn is a great teacher. They are like family here.

Richard Osborn has the unique ability to coach a fighter from the side line and tell a fighter what punch or kick to use to win a tournament. Richard did this for me at A T A nationals and helped me to secure second place in fighting and first in forms. Richard also did the same for my two daughters helping them to get to tournaments and helping them to bring home more trophies than my garage would hold. Richard asked me to go to our first Tae Kwon Do class at Drury Chapel. That was about 40 years ago. Richard soon left me in the dust behind him and began his own school. The rest is history. Richard can spot your mistakes and tell you what to do to correct them. Guaranteed!!!
