We had a fantastic time at the theater seeing The Nutcracker ballet. I sat with my granddaughter who explained it all to me as it went along...😊. Usually I’m not the biggest fan of ballet or plays or musicals, but at this venue with these seats and with my buddy by my side, I loved every moment of it! Not too long and not too brief, the show kept my attention with talented players and elaborate costumes and sets- and the music and sound system/acoustics were terrific!!! Can’t wait to go back!

Always a lovely experience. I suggest getting a box seat; definitely the best way to enjoy the show. Also, the architecture here is stunning.

The sets and costuming were gorgeous. Even though we were in the very back corner we had a great view of the stage. The music was so beautiful it brought a tear to my eyes as I reminisced about this ballet from my childhood. My favorite thing was about coming to this venue is that the parking garage is just across the street and the third level has a sky bridge and elevator for disabled people. As a disabled person the short walk to enjoy such a beautiful performance was a welcome relief as was the very comfortable seating in the theater.

We had a scene The nutcracker here for five years in a row and two other ballets that weve seen multiple out of valets and really enjoyed it theyve always had a good beer and great food at the restaurant thats attached. Also its in Seattle center so there are really cool things to do right in that area. Even the nosebleed seats are fun here, so it can be affordable. Even if you think you wont like ballet give it a shot its fun to dress in an upscale atmosphere if nothing else πŸ‘

I was on a field trip with my school. Each year, they get the chance to study dance with PNB Dance for a few months, and we got the experience of watching the dancers from the Pacific Northwest Ballet an practice. It was almost as magical as going to the ballet! They were so focused and dedicated, and it gave new meaning to giving everything for a chance to make a dream come true. Our students were impressed, and I wondered if any of them had begun to share that dream.

I’m a huge fan of ballet and have been very impressed by every show put on by the Pacific Northwest Ballet. Their season subscription is totally worth it, especially if you’re able to join the Young Patrons Circle. They put on lots of great events for ballet lovers. One downside is they sometimes call at odd hours of the day.

WARNING STROBE LIGHTS DURING THE NUTCRACKERI love the nutcracker and I thought the second half was beautiful, magical even.Tchaikovsky’s β€œDance of the Sugar Plum Fairy” and β€œWaltz of the Flowers” were my absolute favorites.Unfortunately, during the first half, the Christmas tree had these piercing LED lights that were quite painful. And then, during the nutcracker fight scene there were flashing strobe lights.I thought I would share this with all those who have visual sensitivities or epilepsy.

I know a lot of people love PNB but I cant bring myself to give them 5 stars. Im always impressed with their music. And, they have been featuring some more modern and innovative choreographers lately which is so important to build younger audiences. Ive just never been overwhelmed with the dancing. Its not a tight company and whenever I go, things feel a bit sloppy to me. If it werent for their orchestra, they might only rate 3 stars.

We watched the yearly next step program. Current students are encouraged in creating their own work and and supported in making the world premiere of that work a reality. I cant help but feel that its a privilege for everyone present from students to staff to audience members.

This ballet school is well-organized and well-run to a high professional standard. My daughter attended classes there, and we felt that she learned much more than just dance experience. Her interaction with instructors and peers is so much valuable.

McCaw Hall provides the finest venue for ballet anywhere. Its safe, clean, and well maintained. The Mrs and I thoroughly enjoy each years offerings-with the fall 2019 looking like the best ever. Plenty of places to dine around McCaw Hall for a great date night. Also, plenty of deck parking close to the venue. Be sure to support this fine, local, institution.

PNB routinely puts on beautiful shows. Watch their facebook page (or sign up for their newsletter), and be on the lookout for the Beer & Ballet Thursday night special. Ive gotten incredible seats to great ballets for around $35. The company is really talented, as is the orchestra.

Our daughter started at PNB school as a third grader as part of Dance Chance. At the time she was shy and wary of new things. She was hesitant about accepting the invitation to the program. As she progressed in her first few weeks we immediately saw a transformation. She started sitting up straighter, walking more upright and her confidence blossomed. The school’s professional dancing faculty and staff, and the systematic methods they use for building the strength and flexibility of the dancers combine to create an amazing environment for developing not only dancers, but also confident and strong young people. We know the skills developed here will benefit our daughter regardless the path she takes in life.

The 2018 Nutcracker is an absolute disaster. Im not actually sure where to start, but in addition to the crying babies and chattering kids in the audience, the show itself may be the worst ballet production that we have attended. Where to start?- More than half the cast are children. These children are not ready to perform in any way. Most are not even dancing, but just walking around the stage.- Most of the adult performers are little better. There is little to no emotion to the dancing, what little dancing there was.- The choreography makes no sense. Stage direction is out of sync, timing is off. What a disaster.- Long periods of this production is dedicated to video interludes, moving trees, spinning beds, anything that isnt dancing. This should be a relief since the dancing is so terrible, but it ends up just pointing out how awful this production was.- They broke the story! This doesnt actually follow the Nutcracker story correctly, so they reused music in parts and ruined the flow of the music as well.Im appalled that we paid (a lot!) to attend this. This had the quality of a dance school Christmas show. Sadly, I cannot give it zero stars.PNB should be ashamed at what they have done to one of the worlds most amazing pieces of music and dance.

Went to an open class today. The teacher could not count. The pianist was late. When the students were dancing, the teacher looked at herself in the mirror. There was no correction. The teacher took a full five minute bathroom break. Its hard to get audience interested in the company if they dont invest in their teachers. This is not the first teacher I saw at PNB who couldnt care less about her job.

Its very hit or miss what this company does well. Big American ensemble works of the 20th century? Usually lacks precision (looks messy AF). Balanchine-like works? Awkward snore. Romantic ballet? 21st century things like Crystal Pite? No complaints. I dont know what accounts for this variation. Regardless, ticket prices for those under 40 are quite reasonable, so I come anyway.

We saw the Nutcracker. Expensive tickets to see half of the performers were children. Im sorry, but at these prices I expected at least the majority of the performers to be professional ballet dancer adults. It was like going to an expensive, well-staged dance recital. FURTHER -- ever since weve been getting harassed on the phone with soliciting calls for future shows despite our repeated request to be taken off their calling list. Absolutely unprofessional all around.
