So impressed with the Academy. They exceeded all expectations this spring by finding a creative and safe way to conduct an in person dance recital at McMenamins allowing the students to perform together in costume. It was delightful and so refreshing after the former year of lockdown. Kudos to the Academy and students!

My kids have taken piano and dance lessons here for 10 years. The location is walkable from our neighborhood, which is priceless when you have a family-full of lessons to get to and from every week. Every teacher is a master of their craft. I take guitar lessons from the owner, he is nothing short of amazing.

We have had a great experience at Ballard Academy! The teachers are wonderful and my daughter loves her classes. The studio has handled Covid safely and thoughtfully.

My child has been attending dance classes at the Ballard Academy for 3 years. Shes taken ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop and contemporary. I will never forget the drawing she made after her first recital - she was so proud of being onstage with all the people clapping for her! BAMD is a school that builds confidence and welcomes students as they are. It is not a toxic dance culture. My daughter leaves every class feeling better about herself. The teachers are wonderful and I cannot recommend this studio enough!

My kids have been taking music and dance lessons at the Ballard Academy for over ten years. The Academy has helped us through a change from clarinet to saxophone, and as an interest in ukelele turned into an interest in violin. My daughter has danced there since she was 2 and the academy has given her the chance to try ballet, tap, hip-hop and contemporary. The staff are friendly and accessible and the spring recital (under normal conditions) is an amazing experience for the kids to dress up and perform on a big stage. But Im most appreciative of the folks there right now (November 2020) during social distancing. Theyre offering virtual classes AND very small, very safe in-person dance classes. Going there to dance is my daughters favorite experience every week. She is LOVING a chance to be in a room with people who are not her family - and move. Its a refreshing change from all of her other virtual experiences. Thank you Ballard Academy!

Our daughter has been taking dance classes for the past 6 years at BAMD. (Tap). We love the teachers and staff. They are incredibly supportive of her growth and have really helped her build confidence. The schools philosophy also deeply resonates with our values as well. With COVID hitting businesses, the school has taken necessary steps to maintain health and safety and balance meaningful teaching/learning opportunities. The space the teachers and staff provide for students has become such a special part of our daughters childhood. We love being a part of this dance community!

Our daughter is on her third year at BAMD. She loves her lessons and her teachers. They take great care to keep the studio clean and follow strict COVID-19 procedures. We are super excited for this years recital, and many more years of dance here!

We LOVE the Ballard Academy of Music and Dance. This is our second year doing dance classes for 2 of our kids. We all love the teachers and the environment. The teachers are skilled at both dance & technique as well as teaching children. Their prices are reasonable and comparable to the area. Be prepared for a 1 time costume purchase fee for the end of year recital. It is worth the price and turns into a great play outfit afterwards. Weve recommended Ballard Academy of Music and Dance to many friends looking for dance classes.

Our young son and daughter have been taking ballet, tap, and music classes at the Ballard Academy of Music and Dance for a couple of years. The teachers do a great job engaging the kids, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. We are particularly happy that we have been able to schedule both of their classes to occur concurrently. Our children will likely continue their dance and music education here for a long time to come, and I highly recommend the Ballard Academy of Music and Dance to parents looking to introduce their children to music and dance.

My daughters love taking music lessons here! Amazing university-trained instructors, friendly and helpful staff. As my 11-year-old said recently when she was trying to persuade a friend to take lessons, Its super fun and youre learning a skill you can use your whole life!

My 8-year-old son has been taking music lessons (piano and bass guitar) here for about four years. His teacher, John, is fantastic, and helps keep things fun and interesting, finding music to work on that he likes and gets excited about. He always looks forward to his lesson!It seemed that as long as I was taking my son to his lesson every week, I might as well sign up for guitar lessons myself, since there was an open slot at the same time with another teacher, Clark. Its worked out very well, and my playing has improved much faster than if I were just mucking about on my own!Good environment, excellent instructors, friendly staff. Recommended.

My daughter attends ballet here, she is 5. Her teacher is fabulous, she really seems to know how to work with the kids and help them to remember their parts. She invites the parents in later in the season to start recording their recital dance so that we can practice at home.The facility is clean, theres a TV monitor that you can watch the dance classes on, and the staff is great. Theres also a bakery and coffee shop nearby so you can just walk a couple doors away and grab some coffee while your little one dances/takes lessons.They really care about their students here, and want everyone to succeed. I would recommend them to anyone!

My daughter loved taking dance classes here. The instructors are fabulous and the end of year recital is such a great experience for the performers. The front desk people are very helpful as well and make everything easy and enjoyable!

A big fan of Colt and the Ballard Academy of Music and Dance. Have been with the Ballard Academy since its inception. Extremely pleased with the quality of instruction and pleasant, clean facilities. (We are now taking lessons at the Edmonds location and it is just as nice as the Ballard site.)

My daughter has been taking ukulele lessons with Judd for almost a year. Her confidence as a musician continues to grow and she looks forward to her weekly lessons. We feel so lucky to have Ballard Academy of Music and Dance in our neighborhood.

I have been a student of Colt Volante for roughly 8 years. Colt is not only a great guy but a serious musician, classic trained on guitar. The lessons are educational and great therapy add well as adding my appreciation for music..I have become more confident in my musical skills. The dance and music sudio is professional, clean and friendly. A great way to spend the weekend..the arts give us an avenue to use our creativity and expand our experience. They make it fun.

My three year old son LOVES his music class. He looks forward to it every week and skips to the door. The teacher is great and always has fun with the kids. Ive known Colt (owner) for a considerable amount of time. Hes an excellent musician and teacher, and he applies that passion to everything in his academy. Ive been going to the Ballard location for two years now, no regrets or complaints, and I can say Ive improved as a musician considerably.
