Been training BJJ under coach Andy for 6 months at this location. Generally always a good amount of mat space, and decent amount of weights/conditioning equipment. Everyone seems to have a great attitude and willingness to help each other progress. Only thing missing here is a water fountain to refill your bottle.

There are a lot of boxing/mma gyms to choose from. I drive 30 minutes everyday to go to this one. Friendly, motivating atmosphere, and great coaches.

Great! Fun! Motivating!All the instructors are very animated when instructing their respective classes! They keep you going, keep you pumped and make it fun! If they notice you are having trouble grasping the techniques or moves, they willingly pull you to the side and help you out 1 on 1.I personally take the 4pm kickboxing class and the 5pm Half hour power class.Kickboxing is fun and a great workout. Its demanding enough to keep your heart pumping throughout the class but not too much to were you die out half way through. Its really well laid out.The Half Hour power class is an intense 30 minutes of cardio that utilizes weights, ropes, medicine balls, kettle bells, tires etc,.. This class will have drenched in sweat within 10 minutes!Overall great place! I would recommend it to anyone!

I have been looking for a gym like this for years. Great workouts and classes by amazing trainers or who take pride in what they do. They actually care about you achieving your goals. I have lost weight and toned up in just a few months. My son is currently taking private boxing lessons and his confidence and coordination has soared. My family and I are lifetime members!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For the first time in my life, I feel like I am in the right place and the right time, with nothing but family. Whether you are a competitive fighter for the team, a fellow gym-mate, or a family member dropping off the kids to practice, we are all family! I’m proud to be a part of this supportive family. Love the gym, the classes, and the people.Also Ive lost over 20 lbs. since I started back in March. The only regret youll had is not joining sooner :)

I signed up for a 1 year paid in full membership in September of 2012. I am an active duty service member. I paid the initial 175$, I was able to take 2 classes before getting deployed. I notified the gym as when I found out and let them know I needed to cancel my membership because of deployment. I was told that it was alright and taken care of. I returned in January of 2013 to a few dozen voicemails telling me I owed the gym $700+. I again spoke to them and let them know again I had been deployed overseas. I never received another call. I never received anything in the mail. May 17 I received a call from a collection agency about this account. I informed the collection agency about my military service and deployment, and quoted the Service Members Civil Relief Act. I also called the gym and informed them on the Service Members Civil Relief Act. The gym informed me that it didnt matter and they were going to do nothing for me. I was told if i had brought my orders in Before I left they could have helped but they wouldnt do anything for me now. Horrible place. Very Not military friendly and horrible customer service. ALSO NOTICE HOW THEIR PAGE AND ADVERTISEMENTS SAY NO CONTRACTS STRAIGHT LIE.

I have been training here for the past 2 years in their 10th Planet system of Jiu Jitsu. I have lost up to 27 pounds, gained a lot of confidence, and my asthma has improved significantly!! Ive also made some of the best friends a person can ask for here, it really is a family vibe. And women are not excluded, we have had some classes where the women actually outnumbered the men. Quality gym, instruction and staff. Top tier instruction without the top tier price.

I had been bugged to try this gym out for awhile. Finally I accepted and dropped in for a class. Ive now been a member for over 3 years. They have the best staff and training environment. Everyone remembers your name and treats you like family. Ive watched so many people walk through the door and achieve their goals, Whether is was weight loss or competing at a high level. I highly recommend!

Instructors and other students welcome you with open arms. Ive never felt accepted in this way at the other martial arts studios Ive trained at. Even advanced techniques are taught in a way a beginner can understand and achieve. I love training here

I give this gym a 5 star because everyone there is friendly and kind to one another, The trainers are the best in what they do, I recommend this place to anybody that wants to learn how to fight, even if you don’t know how to fight the trainers will teach you everything that you need to know. The gym is one of a kind because they teach you everything for example jiu jitsu, kickboxing, MMA, Boxing, Wrestling, strength and conditioning, They have the best schedule. I prefer you to go check the place out and see if you like it I garente you will love the place.

This place has helped me tremendously. The instructors are professional fighters that are well accomplished. They are patient and kind and have a lot to teach should you feel so inclined to learn. Its amazing!

II have been a member here for a few years and i loved Landon, Manolo and Bill at the Mission Gorge location. I did not enjoy the Convoy location because the members were more snooty and management over there was unprofessional. Several months ago Convoy closed and moved everyone over to the Mission Gorge location. I do not enjoy the gym as much as before. Liz teaches the evening Muai Thai classes and she is not a good instructor. She picks favorites and does not give everyone attention. If you are new she will give you attention until you buy a membership and then she is done with you. If only they would bring Landon back and get rid of Liz the gym would be much better.I also love how their employees are now posting reviews and acting like members to raise their ratings. they are poorly managed and I am glad I left.

Great instructors, a really friendly and motivating atmosphere. Theyre very encouraging, and give lots of individual attention, aiming to improve. I highly recommend, I love this place.

Very well rounded! Jiu jitsu/ MMA/ Boxing/ Muay Thai all taught by professionals with knowledgeable experience. Great atmosphere created by the coaches and team extending out a hand for that next level.

I absolutely love this gym. The current staff is professional and top notch. Although Ive trained at other gyms, Ive never experienced the type of comradarie and dedication that the instructors at San Diego Combat Academy exhibit.

After checking out a couple other gyms in the San Diego area, I landed myself at SDCA because it was close to my apt. Not expecting much more than a bunch of meat heads and a dirty boxing ring, I was pleasantly surprised that this gym was the complete opposite. With the, come as you are, everyone is welcome mentality, I quickly felt like family and looked forward to every single class (not to mention the fact that I lost 15 lbs in a matter of months just from mixing up my work outs and doing something other than weights and running).Dont know how to box? No worries, they teach you! I slapped my hand wraps on the counter and held out my hands because I had no idea how to wrap them and no one made fun of me, they taught me how! Now I can wrap my hands like a pro :)If you are looking for a comfortable atmosphere, clean gym, and a fun group of people to be around, this gym is for you. Members include doctors, lawyers, nurses, teachers, cops, military, medical sales reps, students, and burger flippers of all ages. If you dont believe, me, come check it out and you will be hooked!!

I have been going here for over a year. The instructors are so personable, and extremely good at what they do. They are so friendly and super helpful.You can be a workout newbie, or a amature/pro fighter. Regardless, hte instructors will work with you to accomplish your personal goals.I cant say enough great things about this place.

Very poor management skills. I was a member for more than a year. When I decided to no longer be a member due to my job, I was informed that I needed to pay an extra month even though I was not able to continue to attend any classes at this raggedy gym. They are one of the most expensive gyms Ive ever attended and they dont even have a real gym to work out. My bad for not noticing their flaws when I first signed up. Buyer beware!!

The salesmen/trainers here fail to disclose important information like 160 dollar enrollment fees as well as other hidden details. The 20 days for 20 bucks seemed like a good deal until I was treated like someone from a 3rd world contry. The business practices here are poor and unethical. I wouldnt recommend this place at all. Run!

San Diego Comabt Academy has changed my life in so many ways. I can not thank them enough.I signed up in May hoping that a change in my workout routine will help me stay motivated and get me back in shape. AND IT DID! I lost almost 40 lbs, went from a 10-13 to now a 6-8 and is probably in the best shape of my life.I hate most convential gyms, especially since all you see are girls caked with makeup, barely sweating, hogging up the machines because they are too busy trying to take make that sexy duck face with their girlfriends at that douchebag flexing by the mirror. Addtionally, Ive tried looking at other MMA type gyms and all I got were douche bags and more douche bags with the BRO menality. Lame.Here at SDCA, everyone is sweating, drooling, cursing, crying and sometimes even snot bubbles come flying out because you are pushed to extremes that your body and mind never thought it could be pushed. I love the atmosphere and I love the fact that this gym houses some of the most amazing pro fighters in the MMA world. Being around pro fighters like LIz Gir-rilla Carmouche and seeing them train and instruct is so motivating and makes me want in on the action.Landon and Manny are the two instructors I train with and I owe them my life. They have constantly pushed and motivated me to become my best me. They are a book full of knowledge and are masters at what they teach.When I come to the gym, I feel like I am at home. And its true, I am home because SDCA has literally become my family. I have met amazing people and made amazing friends. When I dont show up to the gym, half the gym blows up my cell phone, facebook or instagram asking me why I didnt show up. And I love the fact that the instructors, too are calling me up asking me where I am. It truly shows how much they care for their students and dont see us another notch in their belt.Try them out, you wont regret it.SDCA ALL DAY EVERDAY!!!

Very bad place to go. Landon, one of the instructors, acts like a 12 year old. Very unprofessional. Avoid at all costs unless you want to deal with a kid, when you speak with them. Take your money University of Jiu Jitsu or MMA Academy.

Ditto, dealt with them this week and place has gone to the dumps with Landon and the clowns running around while Chris is not there. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
