I went to 160 Driving academy in San Bernardino and had a great experience. The first person I spoke to was Paul he got me registered and got me on track to start the schooling and booked my Dmv appointment when it was time to book it. Ed in the classroom was Awesome! he was really knowledgeable and made the classroom a fun and entertaining experience. When I was at the yard the instructors, Daniel, Ruben, Jojo, Jonnae, Chris, Matt and Luis were all great they give you the knowledge and tools on how to pass your drive test. Arlene in the office called me two weeks before my test and set me up with days I can go to the yard to insure I was ready for my test. Then when you graduate the app they have for the school is super helpful and helps you find a job (if needed) thank you to the complete staff at 160 San Bernardino

Where do I begin? Well, first if your looking for a exciting new career trucking is where it’s at. 160 Driving Academy has given me all of the knowledge, skills and boost of confidence I needed to be successful. The instructors are great! They really develop a bond with the students to ensure they can target there learning abilities to the fullest. I had a great time in the classroom as well as the yard and built interesting relationships with peers as well as instructors that helped me learn more and more everyday, When I went to take my test I felt more than prepared and passed my test with flying colors! I will miss the school now that I have graduated and gotten my CDL. Good luck to all who invest in 160 Academy u couldn’t ask for better training.

This is not a 4 week program, you learn this real quick when you enter the yard. If you arent from Amazon or a pretty female youll get ignored and have to fend for yourself. I didnt pay my hard earned money to watch other people train as I sit on the side lines. Everyday there are excuses, I didnt make excuses when it was time to pay for the course.

I searched for a lot of schools before I found 160. The reason that I came to this was because of the branch manager Paul Lundin. He made me feel very welcome at the school and answered all of my questions

After applying for an instructor position with this company I began doing my research and decided I wasn’t really that interested in finding out if what these people expressed in their reviews were true. I was contacted immediately and pretty much offered a position without an interview. The women I spoke with were pretty nice so I figured I’d take a gamble thinking maybe it’s not all that bad. I was promised one pay rate that was posted in the job ad but after starting I realized it was much less, I learned this was a common thing with the new instructors. When I tried to find out what was going on no one could point me in the right direction or was interested in helping me rectify this. It wasn’t long after I learned they were bringing people in at a higher rate of pay that had less experience than myself, most not even qualified to work for a carrier let alone a school. They do these introductory meetings about how big the school is and how fast it’s grown in such a short period of time but when you don’t have basics like current registrations in your vehicles that students are taking out on public roads, that kind of makes one raise an eyebrow. As a driver I knew this was wrong along with a few other things so I stuck in there for a few weeks and after seeing how things operated up to that point, I figured it was best for me to leave. For anyone interested in enrolling in this school to get your CDL, if you’re paying out of pocket be prepared to get pushed to the side for their contract students. This practice was stressed to all instructors on our first day of work. I would also recommend taking a trip to the yard and speaking with a few students prior to enrolling.

I went into this school not knowing one thing about trucks or how they worked. I want to get a better job than where I am at and trucking business called to me. I just passed my class A license test at the DMV thanks to Paul for helping me get started and all the instructors at this academy. They give you everything you need to pass. A paper you can memorize which has all the parts for pre trip and air brakes. And they break down the skills for you to practice until you master it. Big shout out to Ruben, Janye, JOJO, and Brian.

I am writing this review to discuss my experiences with the staff and driving instructors for the 160 Driving Academy, San Bernardino branch. I recently earned my CDL through the San Bernardino branch and felt that by sharing my experiences it could help those possibly looking into getting a CDL. Before choosing this school I looked into various schools around the area. I compared cost, services, and professionalism. I chose 160 because I felt they provided the best value for my hard-earned money. Paul, the office manager, sat with me and explained everything about the process. He was considerate, and concerned about my needs, and was always available to answer questions as they came up. The first week is spent in the classroom. During this week you go over all the information you will need to know to pass your written test (permit test). I had no previous experience with the commercial manual, but through the class, and my at-home studying I was able to pass the written portion the first time. Permit in hand I moved on to the hands on portion of the academy. The driving instructors are professional, knowledgeable, and meticulous in the skills they are teaching you. I worked closely with Matt, Luis, Ruben, Andrew (aka Barstow) and Jo Jo. Their job is to prepare you for the behind-the wheel portion of the test. They walk you through each aspect of the test you will have to master (pre-trip, air brakes, skills portion, and on-the-road). It can be overwhelming at first, but the instructors are able to break each section down systematically to help you retain the knowledge and skills to pass your test. In conclusion, I would recommend this school without a second thought to my closest friends and family.

First person you meet is Paul he works to prepare you to pass the written portion of the test to get your driving permit. He is great and pays attention to detail. He gives you everything you need to pass your written test. He makes the classroom portion so enjoyable. I really enjoyed the classroom portion. Then once you get your permit your off to learn the driving and skills portion. I met Matt, Aisha and Luis the Instructors at the yard at first there’s was some discourse between the instructors meaning there’s was two different ways they were trying to teach things which caused a little confusion. The students were divided into groups and a instructor was assigned to a group. This became complicated because when your assigned instructor was absent some instructors wouldn’t help you so you were basically left on your own. I was told by Luis a stick shift instructor that they didn’t teach automatic students and basically left me to fend for myself. Matt kinda took the leadership role and he was always more than happy to help you regardless of wether he was your instructor or not. I was assigned Aisha as a instructor. I noticed that there wasn’t enough instructors and so they couldn’t provide one on one instruction. Driving was limited because of the lack of instructors. Unfortunately it took me about a year to get my license no thanks to Covid, DMV and they being so backed up when I got there. I see that they got many new instructors now which is great. Matt and Aisha were great instructors and I’m guessing Luis might be great if you get him as a instructor but he won’t lift a finger to help another student if they are not assigned to him. I did call corporate to let them know of my situation and they did their best to correct it which I appreciate it and that’s all I can ask. Overall it was a great experience slight hiccups along the way but nothing that wasn’t correctable.
