Do to the pandemic we had to study at home for the permit and I found a question in the handbook that had the answer wrong 🙃. The hands on training was good when I had Poncho as the instructor he is a great instructor with a lot of dedication to his students it is his passion for his students to pass on the first try, but at the time I did not always get Poncho as the instructor they had new trainers that came from other schools and try changing things doing it their way and when you are trying to take a test it is crucial that you stick to one way of doing things or you will get confused. Dealing with three different trainers is not fun when they all are trying to teach you differently and you have a short period of time to learn to drive and maneuver a eighteen wheeler. Hopefully the schools gets some permanent trainers and they all come together to teach one way and make it easier for the students. Thank you Poncho for all you do for your students and yes I did get my CDL on my first try 😊

Mr.Luis Garza is the absolute best instructor I believe I’ve ever come across. His teaching method is simplistic and easy to follow. Guys and gals I promise you if you go to this school and follow just what he says to follow in his program you are for sure going to get your CDL License. I know there are other schools out there but I believe I got lucky and went to the very best. Mr.Garza truly cares about each of his students and he does his level best to relate to each and everyone. Such a great school and super simplistic curriculum. Luis knows his stuff inside out upside down and backwards. You couldnt ask for better as far as I’m concerned he is hands down the Absolute Best. Hurry and get enrolled and let this man do for you what he did for myself and count less others. 100% success rate. Truly a great man. Thank you Luis Garza for everything.Robert Kelly

The instructor they has the best intentions for everyone who really applies themselves. He’ll teach you, the CORRECT way, and so long as you follow the instructions and show you want to do it, hey, anyone can do it. At the end of the day, he wants the safest driver out there. He’ll believe in you, believe in yourself. If I ever had to take the classes again, I’d definitely do it with their instructor. 10/5 best CDL teacher I’ve had!

I just Graduated today 7/31/2020 from Alamo Truck Driver Training School in San Antonio, Texas. My Instructor was Luis Garza, a passionate caring Trainer who loves helping people learn Truck Driving and Safety. Plus if you want to increase your chances of getting hired locally this is the place to go, because you receive a Certificate and your CDL License upon completion/graduation. Unlike other schools that make you wait a year before giving you, your Certification. Alamo Truck Driving School is #1 in my heart when it comes to Trucking, Safety, and Affordability. GOD Bless You All in JESUS CHRIST 🙏🏾💞🙏🏻

It was an unforgettable learning experience. I quickly learned that to get a CDL license is more than maneuvers, one must be disciplined to be able to apply the knowledge that Mr. Luis Garza has shared. His years of experience were not in vain. If you cannot sustain 30 minutes of discipline you are setting yourself for failure on the onset. I was taught not only the basic knowledge and skills to be able to obtain my CDL. In addition, my instructor shared many professional anecdotes that one day I will apply to be a safer driver and respect the road . In short, if I have to do it all over again I will not hesitate to chose The Alamo Truck Driving School. Their professional ethic approach to teach one on one makes the difference when you take your test. Simplicity is the key ingredient to success.Thank you so much Mr. Luis Garza for all your support and to believe in your students.

I attended this trucking school as part of the Bexar County Strong initiative to obtain employment after being laid off do the covid-19. The school was chosen by Bexar County Strong Alamo Workforce. They had good reviews so I was hopeful it would be a good experience. Unfortunately it has not been a good experience. They are very disorganized do not have the staff or the trucks necessary to train there students. They do not know what each of their students is supposed to be doing day-to-day. They do not provide you with training when youre there and they do not give you a plan for your training when youre already scheduled to take your CDL driving test. Im afraid that the school has a great reputation that it may be squandering. Some instructors that I did met were very good however the leadership does not seem to know what is going on in the school and does not seem to know how to structure the classes so that they can train students to be ready for their CDL exams. It is basically a self-guided study program. You do not get to drive when youre supposed to so that you can be ready for your CDL exam.

I highly recommend this place. I went to all the training places in San Antonio and went I spoke to the instructors I didnt feel happy with them. Finally went to Alamo and Luis greeted me and gave me information about the training I felt comfortable. He helped me all along and he is very patient. I enjoyed the one on one training and he always kept my confidence up. When I went for the driving part I didnt pass but Luis didnt give up on me. He continued helping me and giving me good tips. I appreciate Luis for everything he did for me. If you need a place to go and train for your CDL, Alamo Truck Driving is the place you need to go and speak to Luis.

The long & short: they teach you and train you to pass the tests to get your CDL and get your certificate. (not every place is a state certified CDL school, and Alamo is!)1st part is classroom & videos to pass your written test.2nd part is classroom & hands on to learn to do pre-trip inspection (the hardest part)3rd part is learning to maneuver an 18 wheeler.Luis gives you the needed information and methods for you to get your CDL. Its not easy and requires work, but this is the place to go.

Luis is just an extraordinary instructor from the time I picked up the phone to inquire about the program he was helpful and very knowledgeable and told me without a doubt that I would obtain my cdl . Even when I wanted to give up he never gave up on me, and with that bit of hope I took it and ran I got my cdl. Luis is the most patient person I know he will bring the bravest side out of you and will not let you give up on yourself. He teaches in a way that is the most simplest way to learn .He will not only give you the tools to pass at dps but he’ll show you exactly what you’ll use out when you start trucking. I’m so glad I came across Alamo truck driver training as I had also been victim of other cdl training places that promise you your cdl without the slightest idea of how to teach. In the end I accomplished what I wanted to and that was get my cdl and I am forever thankful for Luis and Alamo truck driver training you guys are awesome and know how to treat people . I gotta say the this is a great school!! From starters, the instructor Luis and Director Davila were very helpful explaining me the courses that the school has to offer. They were honest and upfront with me. The school is in great condition and they have excellent material to cover with everything included for your preparation. The trucks are in mint condition. The instructor Don Luis was just awesome! You can tell the this is a passion for him to teach. He will give you one on one instruction and explain every single detail with a lot of practice. He won’t give up on you until you get it, has a lot of patience, and overall, he’s just a great person. He wants you to succeed! Even if you fail your test, he will go on his way to give you more practice time until you pass. Trust me, YOU’ll PASS your test and have a CDL if you choose this school. Now the reason why I didn’t give a five start to the school even though I love the school, is the I feel the it needs another great instructor like Luis as the school can get busy with a lot of students. The school is giving to much weight to just one instructor. Also the school is supposed to have their own testers months ago but still nothing. Hopefully they fix this soon as it will cut a lot of time as DPS scheduling can take up to a month or more if you didn’t pass your test first try.Overall, I recommend this school. When you pass, if you chose to go to full lecture, you’ll get assistance to get a job.

Getting your CDL is hard these days and Alamo/Luis can make it a whole lot easier. I got the 10 hours training package and needed every bit of it to pass the Class-A cdl test on my first try with a manual 10 speed transmission. Thank you Alamo/Luis. You will have to learn how to do the pre trip inspection, straight line backing, offset backing and parallel park a tractor trailer rig the way TX DPS wants it or you will fail. Alamo/Luis knows what TX DPS wants and will help you learn how to pass the test if you follow Alamo/Luis directions/instructions. Thank you Mellie for being a good Alamo rep, making me feel welcome and keeping me updated on what to expect. I know where to send people who need help getting their CDL.

The company is owned and run by two brothers in Laredo and a secretary located n Houston. What they claim to sell u and what they actually provide is completely opposite in most cases. U basically teach yourself. The new instructor told me to go to U Tube to learn.I was excited to learn. I believed in the schools officers, a brother and secretary. I believed they cared about me learning come to find out they do not based on their actions. The new instructor was in such a bad mood on Dec. 14th he lied about me to the brother in Laredo over the phone because I asked the new instructor why he was in such a bad mood since he came to school 30 minutes late which I did not complain about. 5 minutes later with no call of concern from the brother who sold me on the school decides to kick me out.The new instructor does not teach well. He is a truck driver not a trainer. After passing my written exams the school kicked me out a week and a half before my DPS driving date on Dec 28th with only 3 hours of driving a truck I was not going to be tested in. The school denied me the hands-on training portion throughout all of Nov 2018 so I did not have a chance to get hired n Dec.The new instructor wanted time off in Dec. so I guess he needed to cause a problem with is mood to get me kicked out. I am sure he enjoyed his Christmas and New Year Holiday time off. They state they r open 8 am to 5 pm. That is not true. They state they will work with you and are flexible. That is not true. This is only the beginning of their problems.Based on my experience they want one thing, your money. My list of an extremely bad experience goes on. I do not know how this country allows a company to make up lies, rob u from rendering service for what was paid for and is allowed to stay open.

I will continue to post as my class continues...but as I approach the beginning of the second week of training, allow me to tell you about week one. I have completed all testing for my permit WITHOUT ANY INSTRUCTION FROM THIS SCHOOL.I got my DOT physical and my DOT drug testing, on my own, using Google. I passed my generals, air brake, tankers and received CLP with out one video or class taught by this school. I was told to go to the Department of Public Safety and get a book, study, and go take the test. So, I taught myself. During my first week I spent ZERO time at this school. First day of week 2 was yesterday. 715am to 11:30 am and school was done for the day. I received about 40 miles of drive time and instructor never once mentioned snub breaking, stab breaking, down shifting, or lane control. Fist day in the truck. These things are critical. Let me also mention that we have yet to discuss log books, or any of the critical information that should be taught during the first week of class....BEFORE getting in the truck. Also, we started driving yesterday with myself, another student, and the instructor, WITHOUT anyone performing a pretrip inspection. Smh. On my way to day 2.
