Carl Brunswick’s career coaching skills have helped shape the image for my future. Carl has a real passionate drive to help others find their drive in what they believe in and where they can make the most impact within the community and workforce.Having worked with Carl for over a year to find my true passion, has been very eye opening and exciting. Without the dedication that Carl has shown me and my future, (which has helped me grow professionally and socially), would have had me lost and confused on my career choice. After talking with Carl, I am much more confident and excited to see where my career choice will take me in the near and far future. I am so grateful for having known Carl and thankful for his commitment to my future!

This is a good school to start your career in Ultrasound. They offer a good program; you learn quick, but not too quick to forget anything, and you can practice on classmates to get more comfortable using an ultrasound machine. Coach Brunswick is also an awesome counselor, because he guides you on how to understand your career, how to apply for a position, and what to say during the interview at the desired position. Apply today and see what ultrasonography is all about!

I’ve had the pleasure of being able to have some of the United Medical Institute students at InterMed Vein Clinic. They are all hard working and well-prepared students who are willing to go above and beyond for our patients and staff. The students that I have had the opportunity to work with have shown me that they are dedicated to help in any way. I look forward to having more students in my facility as they are needed.

I finished sonography program in late October of last year and am close to finishing externship hours through UMI. This school has amazing staff that prepares their students to sit for the SPI and all other specialty programs. On top of that, they have an amazing career coach, Carl Brunswick, who helps students with not only job interviews but resumés and LinkedIn profiles. Carl has done a great deal in helping me personally through job interviews and my own resume. Thank you UMI for helping me get through this school successfully.

I was not only a student at United Medical Institute, but I also had the privilege of becoming one of their sonography instructors. As a student, I found a thorough, well rounded sonographic and medical education from highly educated and trained instructors. This allowed me to pass my SPI and to enter into one of UMIs externship sites where I gained exceptional hands-on experience before passing my boards.Because of my respect for UMIs program, when offered a teaching position, I jumped on it. I wanted to be a part of the environment that valued not only education, but ethics and integrity. UMI is an institution that continually strives to improve upon its program for the betterment of their students and their community. I am proud to say that I have had the unique opportunity to be a part of United Medical Institute both as student and instructor and I would recommend UMI to any future sonographer.

United Medical Institute has been a great partnership. We have accepted many externs and a large percentage of them have turned into long term, productive employees. These employees have helped us from Sacramento to Sydney NSW.

UMI is a professional Ultrasound school. The school is not only provided standard Ultrasound education to their students but also supporting the UMI community imaging clinic. This clinic is non profit which helps uninsured patients in the community for their ultrasound exam. The clinic also hired many UMI school graduates to as ultrasound techs.

I am so thrilled to connect with United Medical Institute and the high-quality graduates that they are producing. The quality of education with UMI is top-notch as they are being instructed by practitioners in the Ultrasound field. The faculty and staff at UMI truly care about their students as it is evidenced when you communicate with their graduates and alumni. I would highly recommend UMI for anyone who is interested in learning sonography or hiring a great entry-level candidate.

Went here today with a friend and this place is a joke. Its located in some hidden strip mall off Auburn Blvd and when you walk in you see what a hack of a school it is. The classrooms are basically small offices. We asked about what programs they offer and they mentioned ultrasound and when we asked about other programs they just said no and walked off. No professionalism here whatsoever. We went over to Sacramento Ultrasound Institute off of Watt and had a much better experience there. She will definitely not be enrolling here.

READ WHOLE REVIEW!!!I was a student here for about a month. I then learned that they are NOT accredited. Which means you will graduate with a useless certificate. You will not be able to sit for boards and good luck getting a job. The teachers have no clue about their class setup, there are grammatical errors in the “exams” we took, our clinical instructors didn’t know what all the buttons on the machines did, and location was in a less than desirable location. That is just a SLIVER of what this school is like and I don’t recommend it to anyone. Spend a little bit more money on a real ACCREDITED program.

Great school. I really liked how small it is and they offer evening classes. Information was above what I expected. I visited few other places and they were not as forthcoming. Admissions lady was very nice and friendly. She was very knowledgeable, answered all my questions and more. Also teacher in the lab putted some of my concerns about the employment opportunities to rest. Spoke with few students as well. You got my vote :-)

When I called just now to ask some question that are important to a prospective student, I was greeted with such lack of knowledge and respect! She didnt answer any of my questions, when I asked her about the degree types she said that no school has an AS in ultrasound. That is a lie. She couldnt tell me the price of the program only the length and when it starts. She said the other schools were lying about what they offered. It was amazing to me that she knew more about other schools than the very school she worked for! After trying to get something from her she hangs up in my face. I called back to speck with someone else she hung up again! I will for sure NEVER attend this school. She needs to be fired! Or shouldnt be allowed to be first contact for future students.

I did my research on almost all ultrasound program in Sacramento-Roseville area and this school stood out to me from all the other ones. I recently moved out to California from Hawaii just to go to this school. Ms. Linda helped me get everything together and made my transition 10x easier. I am a current student here and I don’t regret it at all. If you are interested in going here I strongly recommend visiting the school. Also, I have always had trouble with schools processing my GI Bill, it usually take 2 or 3 tries but it was done correctly here in the 1st shot.

I really wanted to go to this school. I live in vermont and i’m willing to move across the country to attend. Every time I have reached out about the programas a potential student, I don’t get any answers that I am looking for. They just emailed me back saying “meet with the dean.” If I am going to buy a plane ticket to come and get info, I wanted more information going into it and they told me my questions would be answered when I met with the dean. Why? So I could spend 400$ on a flight to potentially be very disappointed? I got a very unprofessional vibe from the admissions staff and I’m truly disappointed. I have my Bachelors degree in Public Health so i’ve gone through this process with many other schools in the past. As a student making a big decision about their future, I wouldn’t attend UMI.

Ultimately graduated & took the SPI test. Unfortunately they were deceiving because you can’t sit for a specialty exam until you have work experience and good luck getting that without a specialty! The internship was a mobile company so you are required to travel a lot & have your own transportation & gas money. The internship makes you do other things that pertain more to a medical assistant not a sonographer & hardly let you scan. Wouldn’t recommend this school & seriously do your research!

First off, Im not a student at UMI. My review is based on a phone conversation I just had. I called to get information about the ultrasound (general) and vascular tech programs. Here are some of the questions I asked, and answers I got:Besides WASC, are you certified through any diagnostic imaging governing body?- She spoke to me like I was an idiot because I brought up registration requirements from the ARDMS website to see if they met them. She said ARDMS is not an accrediting body (I know that, BUT they do have requirements in order to get registered). Usually, someone calling to get information will have these type of questions. Oh, and my accreditation/certification question wasnt answered. Then I asked about the services to help get employed after the program.- She said it was up to me, and how much I put into the program. Yeah, I know that much, but what can/do you do as an institution to help YOUR students succeed? Do you have working relationships with alumni, hospitals, clinics etc.? That question wasnt answered. It should also be said that when students ask these questions, we are trying to see if you really care about students, or you just care about making money. Schools that care about students would be happy to share post grad information.I asked about partnerships with clinics to do externships, and told her I knew of another college who partners with a major health care group (because I have a very close contact in one of the hospitals ultrasound departments that deal with students).- She flew off the handle telling me that the other college was lying through their teeth and she had been doing this for 14 years--not sure what that has to do with anything. If Im going to spend money to go to your program, I have a right to know who you partner with to ensure I get the best education and employment opportunities! This review may or may not help you, the prospective student. Like I said, I am not a student there and I havent been through their program. However, I was really excited/interested about it. Because of the lack of respect or information I will cross it off the list.A Note to UMI Leadership: The first voice we as prospective students should hear is someone who is excited to talk with us about the programs. Someone who is not combative. Someone we, the student, can envision having a conversation with in a LEARNING environment. This woman may or may not be an educator, but she is the first voice we hear when making a huge decision to attend your school. Speaking from a sales/business point of view: you only get one first impression, and customers who are insulted and disrespected tend to share their experiences (like Im doing). That is money on the table you just lost.
