Poor quality education. My kids got dumber coming here. Common core set my thriving child back in math. They literally made her re-learn adding all over again (the common core way), which, frankly, is retarded math. It was very frustrating for her and us. Minimal emphasis on motor skills and fun projects in kindergarten. Too much emphasis on getting grade school children to prepare for college. Backpacks weigh a third of my kids weight. (Hey, why not show the kids how this generation of mentally enslaved improperly educated morons are acting at UC Berkley). Kids have writing and math pushed down their throats while other important study subjects are neglected like: science, history, art, music, etc. What really gets us mad is the Responsibility room. This is where a child goes and misses his recess when he has failed to meet their exaggerated, nazi-like policies. Reasons include: ANY tardy without a doctors note (flat tire, child feeling sick in the morning, transportation issues, emergencies, etc. are not accepted even if you call ahead); not having 100% completed homework assignment; not signing daily communication log; not coloring square that reflects daily behavior on daily communication log; not initialing agenda; not coloring star on daily reading sheet; not initialing daily reading sheet; forgetting a book; not having chrome books charged at 50% or more; not having responsibility room sheet signed; etc. kids forget one of these things, lose their recess to write a statement acknowledging their irresponsibility, and come home crying because they feel like they did something terrible. I am not the only mom that has these same complaints. There are a few of us that care about what our children are learning in school and how they are being affected by micro-managed school policies. The screening process just to volunteer is a bit much. Bus has been late MANY times to and from school, but guess punctuality only pertains to parents. Expect a phone call home for something as stupid as your child daydreaming in class or for playing with a pencil in his hand. These are serious issues that require parent involvement (boy, good thing they actually didnt disrupt the class, or were disrespectful to anyone, or anything). One last thing: Having a Planned Parenthood booth set up at our Back to School Night was appalling. What better way to support children and families than by promoting an entity that kills innocent children in the womb. Unbelievable. Whoever allowed that - sick sick sick! My kids will not be coming back.
