Great recess area. Very regular classrooms with laid back great environment. Small class sizes throughout Wake County. Five star schools all around you just have to look hard. Great place for children to go to school.

This school saved my sons life! He was unable to keep up in a regular classroom with 20-30 other kids. He needed a little extra time and attention, positive reinforcement and achievable goals, all of which he received at Mt. Vernon. After attending Mt. Vernon he was a different child. He went from having anxiety attacks and begging me to pick him up from school every day, to looking forward to school and wanting to go even when he was not feeling well. The staff is unbelievably caring and dedicated. They are patient and every one of them has an understanding of children who have it a little tougher than the average. I cannot praise this school enough for what they have done for my son and our family.

I went to school here in 1966. Great school! Not too sure about today though. Had a huge area for recess back then.
