Our family loves Hawthorne Family Playschool! Both of our kids have been part of the program and both thrived withTeacher Susans guidance. She is thoughtful and attentive with an outstanding curriculum. As a parent I have found a wonderful community to share the parenting adventure and made some amazing friends.

Teaching after school ballet classes at HFP has been so much fun. The kids are sweet and excited to dance, the staff is great and Susie is wonderful with the kids. I love their outdoor play area and the obvious efforts to encourage hands on play as learning.

HFP has been a fantastic Playschool for our son! Its been a really fun change from the traditional preschool environment, I love going in and helping out a day a month or so.It also helps make it a very affordable option. Teacher Susan is great with the kids, awesome at dealing with any interpersonal conflicts and helping foster growth around emotional regulation and other important early developmental skills. Would fully recommend it to anyone looking for a Playschool and also the desire for community and to be involved!

HFP has made us better parents through the anti-bias curriculum and thoughtful classroom ethic that is so sensitive and caring when dealing with conflicts or strong emotions, encourages creative play, individuality, patience, etc. Teacher Susan is a gem - she cares deeply for each child and helping them grow. The classroom is lovely and the outdoor yard is a wonderland.

HFP has been a game changer for our family. I cant begin to quantify the amount Ive learned, as a parent, watching Teacher Susan in action. Communication, problem solving, building relationships, supporting creativity...I could go on and on. And my son adores the school, too! The nature-focus has them outside every day, and he loves that. The anti-bias curriculum is teaching him to be comfortable noticing and talking about all the ways people are the same and different, and that all ways of being are great. And the play-based classroom allows him to follow his intuition and natural curiosity, while Teacher Susan gently guides from the sidelines, when needed. Without hyperbole, she is a master teacher. We are lucky to have discovered this school, and our whole family has benefited from my sons time there.

HFP is a fantastic coop preschool. The setting is split between a spacious church basement and a tree-filled outdoor play yard. Teacher Susan, with the assistance of us parents, helps kids from 3-5 navigate ecological, cultural, and developmental subjects that build compassion and curiosity. Susan is a role model to all of us in the HFP community and continually surprises us with how much she gives of herself. Most recommended.
