I got my hair done the other day by Kylie. She did a wonderful job on my color and cut. She got some help to make sure I made it to work on time. I really appreciated that! I’ve been here 3 times and they always do a great job! The teachers are really good with their students and make sure the color and cut are perfectly done.The only thing I would change is the amount of color that is used for a client. I go in expecting to pay $31 for my color. Especially since my hair is shoulder length and fine. I didn’t like paying extra. I would raise the amount of product that is used for normal hair. Ifit’s long and thick, I would understand the extra payment.Otherwise, great experience. Lydia also did a great job on my hair as well.I would recommend coming in and getting your hair done by these professional students and teachers!

I always have such a good experience here! I get all my color and cuts done here. The staff and students are very detail oriented and kind. They always make sure I like my look! I recommend Z to all my friends!

Ive never been so screamed at called names discriminated against and belittled and interrupted when I was being pleasant and trying to have a conversation with somebody after they messed up my hair I couldnt even get a word in without them interrupting me screaming at me and belittling.Wow this got worse Carys burnt off my hair. She toned with a 30 volume burnt off my hair. Hair toner washed out turned my hair green. She then called and bullied me then through email. If that was not worse enough then she had another stylist call and said she was an instructor and still bullied. Just for her to fix the green hair that should have been a red brown. It looked like a calico kitty with all different colors of hair for her over processing and not saturating my hair. She left this on my hair almost 2 hours. told her it was burning and she didnt care. She spent 10 min on my hair but I was there 3 hours as she over processed me. No instructor checked it out before leaving the light in there is so bad they make you stand by the window to get photos which are fake and use presets. When I went back to show them my hair a random women, dont even know her name yanked on My hair out of a bun as hard as she could. Then I mean screamed at me. Told my witness if she wants she can stand there 2 hours or wait outside no chair was gonna be brought over. This place is not wearing mask or doing covid. I dont have the instructor name because she bullied me and screamed at me to make me feel little j was in tears and my witness stepped in and the instructor started In on her and the Instructor almost him my 70 year old witness for asking her questions and telling her to stop being rude too me.. ended up not fixing my hair which is good since she burnt it off and its falling out and breaking off. I had healthy hair and at my last appointment at there other location my stylist cut off 4 inches and told me my hair is growing fast and its healthy. Im sick at my stomach to even think.of the extension I need or how short Im gonna have to cut my hair to get it too blend. Did I also mentioned this hair stylist that burnt it off is doing hair extensions. Its sad that this is how they treat people at this location and how long the bar is set since they think they cant be sued because its a beauty school.

A great place! Students are knowledgeable and the professionals are always checking on their students and jump right in when needed. My family loves this place for haircuts and color.

The one in Lees summit is phenomenal, their students are very well educated and their instructors communicate well with clients and the students to make sure youre getting exactly what youre wanting. Unfortunately the overland Park one lacks both of those things. Yes there students, but there staff is very rude. The instructors are not Hands-On its like theyre afraid of their students. Just take the extra time and drive to the one in Lees summit youre going to save yourself a lot of time in the long run so you dont have to go back to get your hair fixed. Plus you will just be treated with respect not like the op one rude rude rude very unpleasant and no chair side Manors. RUN!!!!

My daughters hair was a mess. They got her in before her prom miraculously and turned her hair into the most beautiful color and style. She felt like a princess for prom. Thank you maddie you are amazing! Feeling very grateful and satisfied! We will be returning!

This was a great place with very nice welcoming people, but they dont have African American hair products.

Ive been coming here for years and I am always so pleased with my haircuts! Sara Pool did an incredible job today, and I am so excited for a facial by her tomorrow. :) You guys are awesome!

Jessica (with a birthday of May 23rd) did a basic cut on me and she was fantastic! Her cutting skills were great and so were her personal skills. I would 100% come back and have her do my hair every time.

I had a wonderful experience with Krystal! She did an amazing job on my hair. She took her time and made sure my hair was perfect.I have had my hair done at some very expensive salons and wanted to save some money, I was nervous about it, but I have to say I am so happy I went to Krystal. I know she probably has already graduated, wherever she goes, they will be so lucky to have her.

I am so impressed with how Z-Academy trains their students. The students know many more skills then how to cut a straight line. Z-Academy teaches business skills. As a salon owner, I will always be looking to Z as a source to find the best educated students in the Kansas City area. Z is amazing!

I came in on a Saturday in Jan. I called in the morning and was surprised they could take in in that day. So I hurried over. I have long reddish hair, naturally curly. I wanted to color it dark auburn for rest of winter, get rid of the blonde brassy color summer and swim pool did to my hair.I was paired with Dillon. He was great. Fun, laughs, and did great work pretty fast too. I always like to give the stylist free reign on helping me decide. Because they are better than me!!! so I enjoy letting him tell me what looks best. He and his instructor developed the most beautiful dark auburn color. I got gutsy and cut off 9 inches. I did not have to I just decided it would be fun. I also got my eyebrow color to match.I enjoyed myself, and I loved the results. I know I should have done this earlier in the season, but just never did. My color was fabulous, The time it took was not any longer than expected. Happy to come back in spring for lighter color.

I had my hair cut by Alina and she did an awesome job. Very friendly and knowledgeable on products. The end result was just what I wanted. The other staff that was there was helpful and very kind, as well.

A girl I work with Jayden goes to school here. She did a phenomenal job on my hair and I immediately sent my husband then everyone else at work made appointments the following week!!

They wasted my time setting up an appointment and having me drive all the way out here. Apparently, they dont have trimmers and cant give you a fade cut. Wasted so much time finding and driving to this place

I went to get my hair done for prom, I asked for a pretty simple updo, and they almost let me leave with a birds nest looking bun! And an awful braid! I kindly asked them to fix it twice and I ended up leaving so upset that I paid $40 to hate my hair!

Couldnt recommend this place more! I had a lovely stylist (Lauren), the cut was great, and it only took a little over 30 minutes for a wash, cut, and blow-dry! I got the full salon experience for under half the price - go check it out!

I have gotten my hair cut hair here for 5 years and have always been happy. However tonight I got my hair dyed and I am in dismay with how terrible it is. I fully intend on getting a refund and I am incredibly upset with how my hair turned out. The only reason I am giving three stars is because this is the first time they have ever messed up so awfully.

I would give 0.5/5 if I could. They knew that I wasn’t satisfied with their work, but made me pay the full price. I go there all the time, but not anymore. I’ll change my mind if the management would give me a call or email me about this issue. I spent 3 hours to get highlights and a haircut( just fade undercut, which took them about only 15 minutes). There’s not much of difference between before and now on the hair color. I would upload a picture if I could. So, I wasn’t satisfied with the color of the hair, I paid $45 for a haircut and a couple highlights, they also blamed me (not rude, but not friendly too). They wanted me to schedule another day to come back and waste a few hours of my time(I’m not even sure if they would get it done next time or not). Hopefully, I would be contacted by someone and I could give more stars. I’m leaving this all the management now.Feruz Jafarov

Doesnt even deserve a 1 star..Went to get about 6 inches taken off.. the instructor was absolutely terrible, and my hair came out nothing like it was supposed to.. my purple ended up being, purple, brown and blonde because of how sloppy they did my hair.. my layers came out looking absolutely terrible. there is huge chucks of hair that was missed when coloring it, and pieces that are still to long.. I will never return to this hair school. I will continue to go to Mitsu.

Even though it is a school, it seems so professional. The stylists have been very friendly, listen to my direction, and have done beautiful work with color and cuts.

I absolutely LOVED my experience with Z Hair academy. Making an appointment was easy and the environment was so welcoming. Julia did an INCREDIBLE job with my hair. I have never loved a color more on me. She took my vision and ran with it. Everyone was so kind and hyping up my new hair the whole time. Such a professional environment, and it was awesome that I got to support a cosmetology student. plus if you are looking for affordability, this is your place! Cannot wait to get my hair done by Julia again! Just look at my before and after!!!
