I cannot rate this gym/academy high enough. Top level instruction and guidance in a no nonsense environment. If you are looking to really learn authentic Muay Thai this is the spot. No corners cut! Ajahn Ruben is as knowledgeable and professional as they come and treats all of his students with the same care and respect. I would recommend this gym/academy to anyone who is serious about learning Muay Thai or who intends on bettering themselves.

I joined extreme power gym in October of 2020. In that time not only did I learn so much about muay thai but I also lost over 130 lbs. Im not joking when I say that joining Extreme Power Gym has changed my life forever! If youre trying to better yourself using either boxing or muay thai, there is no better place in Oceanside!

Called in to speak with the owner with a business proposal and the response I got was extremely impatient and rude. One of the reasons of why I reached out is because of the wonderful reviews on here led me to believe this was a great business but this experience certainly changed my mind.I understand the business likely receive cold callers everyday and the owner might be frustrated with the amount of unwanted soliciting, as a matter of fact, we all do just as everyday people, but I do believe when someone is speaking to you directly, being straight forward, with respect, addresses this fact that there are no intentions of wasting time, the least a person can do is to be respectful and have the decency to respond with either a yes Im interested or no thank you.Even though this isnt a customer review and might not be a big deal to a lot people going here, but considering this is someone who teaches martial arts, I feel the needs to share my opinion about his character because how you do one thing is how you do everything. One, the lack of respect he shows with his extremely horrible attitude. Two, the lack of decency and balls to give a simply give a straight No instead of hanging up.Ruben if you are reading this, for the sake of who you are serving, be better.

Always feel great spending time training here. This place and the people here are pretty much family to me. As long as Im in the area Ill keep going .

Absolutely the best! My three boys have been studying traditional Muay Thai under Ajahn Ruben for about four months now, and they have grown so much! He is real, no nonsense, uncensored, principled, talented, and yet kind and understanding with the kids. They know where they stand, and what he expects out of them; which is no less than 100%, and that is what he gives back. The gym is everything you NEED, but may not have everything you want. It has a nice clean, and well kept unisex bathroom, however no showers. Plan on heading home for that. There is a front bag area the kids start their training, and then a much larger training area the adults are always hard at work in, with a full ring for sparring, different density bags, different type bags, some free weights, speed ropes, mirrors, etc. The gym feels nice and open, and as clean as any city boxing gym! That is what you have here. A real, owner is the trainer and vested in every student Muay Thai and Boxing gym. It will smell like one after the guys are working, but somehow gets normal. The families are welcome, and siblings are often found toddling and observing. If you arent training here, but are interested in these disciplines, you are missing out!

This is home. A little hard and traditional for some but thats how we like it.

The curriculum that Adjarn Ruben teaches during his kids class is top notch. He consistently guides the children in not only the way to deal with adversity in the ring but also how that translates to life. I have all three of my children enrolled with the gym and highly reccomend it as an extra-curricular activity for people of all ages.
