Grateful I found this place right before the mandatory shelter-in-place ordinance hit Oakland. I went to my first free lesson in person and was immediately hooked. Ian started with the basics and tailored the program to my interests. I have been playing for about two months now and have learned some of my favorite songs (not super perfect but getting there). Its definitely a process. Ian is enthusiastic, passionate and a down to earth guy. Its easy to get frustrated but he keeps you positive. I was able to serenade my girlfriend last week. Excited for the future and keeping at it. We have been doing zoom lessons which work great. He gives me homework for the week and Im prepared for our lessons. I like the accountability that the weekly classes schedule creates. Slow and steady. Get off of Netflix and sign up with IR guitar lessons. Its worth the investment.

It took me well over a year of trying to learn guitar via YouTube instruction until I finally decided that I needed a teacher.Within a few lessons, Ian helped set me on the path to learn and enjoy the process along the way. The focus has always been on helping me to achieve my goals as a musician.There are a wide range of events throughout the year, multiple performance opportunities, and the chance to meet others to jam with.

Ian is one of the best guitar teachers out there, he is very well schooled and is a very patient teacher. He is classically trained and I used to play guitar for years and he helped me come back to it by teaching me some good classical scales that have immensely helped my technique. Whether you are a beginner or advanced guitar player, Ian can help and is one of the best. I highly recommend him!

Ian and Adrianna are not only highly skilled musicians and teachers, but are overall terrific people. You may go in wanting to learn a new instrument, but youll leave wanting to be their new best friend. Their brand new space is top notch, too! They have one-on-one lesson rooms with large windows and gorgeous natural lighting, as well as a spacious group lesson classroom. You cant beat that atmosphere.

My 6 year old daughter takes lessons at I.R. Guitar Lessons and she really loves it. The prices are fair, and our teacher, Adrianna, is just incredible...shes such a positive role model and inspiration to my daughter. In addition to teaching private lessons, they offer group classes to schools in the OUSD, so Ill be signing up my daughter for their group ukulele class in the spring.

Adriana is a wonderful teacher! She is patient, knowledgeable, and has a wonderful sense of humor. Shes willing to let you study what you want but also keeps you on track to learn the theory and technical skills. I would highly recommend for any level of guitarist!

I was a total noob who couldnt tell the difference between an A minor and a treble clef. Now Im jamming to my favorite songs, and appreciating music on a whole other level thanks to Ian. I tried using YouTube tutorials, but they just arent as good as a respectable instructor like my guy here.Do yourself a favor if you wanna get good at playing guitar: make an appointment with these guys. You wont be disappointed

I have been taking lessons with Ian for quite some time now. He has a wealth of information to offer, and always provides me with new material. The lessons have always been in a comfortable atmosphere and I continually feel challenged, which I love! I have actually taken a couple lessons from Adrianna, while Ian was on tour, and it is evident that they play off each others strengths. They have both helped me become a well-rounded guitar player.

Ive been taking lessons for a while with a couple different schools. Ian and Adrianna at IR Guitar Lessons have finally brought music lessons into the 21st century. Everything was at my fingertips on their website and they were always available by phone/email/text 24/7. Awesome.

Ian is a great teacher who can meet the needs of students of many levels. Im an adult student with years of playing but very few of studying. Ian is taking my newfound discipline in the art of guitar and tailoring it through artful listening and good humor.

The instructors here are professional, easy going, EXTREMELY well qualified, and most of all fun to work with! Im an adult, a wind musician, and I can be a bit of a pain. If these guys can work with me and make it fun, they can work with anybody! I highly recommend!!

These guys are awesome, my kid is so pumped every week for his guitar lesson. My son is in first grade, and has participated in a lot of extracurricular stuff, and lessons at I.R. Guitar Lessons is by far his favorite. I might take some lessons too.

Ian has been my instructor for about a year and has helped me on two levels. As a professional musician he provides me with insights that would be hard to come by elsewhere. This combined with his go easy teaching approach motivates me to carry on. I progress at my pace which suits me well.

My daughter Sonia (10) has been Ians student for more than 2 years. In the past 2 years she has learnt lots of new songs and has performed in few talent shows in her school. I can see her confidence level going up in playing guitar and she enjoys the class with Ian. She is currently preparing for the ABRSM test - and is getting better in doing site reading and playing scales with his help.Earlier I used to sit in most of the classes with her and was very impressed in his way of teaching, as i could tell he really enjoys teaching, which is a quality not every teacher has.Overall it has been a great experience and I would highly recommend anyone who is interested in learning guitar.
