Super friendly staff; great space for serious boxers or beginners. Do wish they had more machines, but given the space divide I understand why they do not and cannot fault them for this too much.

Pacific Ring was one of the first places I started my martial arts journey at when I just graduated from high school. After moving away for 10 years then coming back, I can say that its only gotten better. One of the largest spaces in Oakland for martial arts, Pacific Ring offers beginner and competitive boxing, Muay Thai, bjj, wrestling, and MMA. Combine that with a decent area for lifting, a partial cage, a full size ring, and top caliber coaching, Pacific Ring is a great gym for all levels.

We brought our then 14 year old daughter there to try it out. She had a knee injury that was healing, and so she could not keep up with the other students in the particular class. She informed the instructor that her knee movement was limited, and she could not fully complete the stretches she was asked to do. They pressured her to try, even though she was experiencing a lot of pain. We had already told them that she had a recent surgery on the knee, and that her mobility was limited. Apparently, they didn’t recognize that type of explanation or adhere to and both hers and our requests. The instructor became visibly annoyed by my daughters inability to perform all of the stretches, and basically told her that she was not good enough to train with his group. She had already gone through this type of training before, and was pretty good at it. The only problem was her inability due to her injury. When I picked her up after the first class, she was crying and informed me of what the instructor had told her. I was rather pissed off, as any father would be, and decided to wait until the following week. My daughter told me that she did not want to go back, and so I requested that they stop, billing us. This kind of request is also something they don’t recognize, because they have continued to bill my checking account $109 per month for more than a year. After pleading with my bank a couple of times now, they have a greed to file a claim against Pacific kickboxing. Hopefully I get my money back soon.

The BEST gym in the heart of Oakland! Really spacious and clean. Love it because it has boxing and muay thai. You get what you pay for and its totally worth it. Parking can be a little hectic.. .overall great teachers and classes! you are locked in for the 6 or 12 months they offer you. or you can do month to month.. Itll motivate you for sure! No cry babies!

Legit gym. If you are looking for a proper mix of modern combat training and a diverse posse to do work with then this is a great place to learn as well as have fun. Pacific Ring Sports (PRS) has all of the essentials one needs to get down. The trainers and coaches are some of the best in the game. I have trained with Roberto “The Hitman” Garcia at three different gyms in my life: City Boxing in San Diego, UND1SPUTED in North Park and Pacific Ring Sports in the Bay Area. Robert is a top notch person and he will give you the opportunity to develop your athletic agility and ability regardless of your skill level. Ganyao “Dr. Knee” Arunleung will break you off some real Muay Thai experience. Ganyaos sessions and one on one teaching is unparalleled and world class. Michael Regnier is an awesome individual and instructor with an appropriate history to qualify him in his role as the owner and operator of PRS. Jason Joseph is a badass. Jason treats people with so much respect that it is obvious that he has much to give and teach to the community and the world at large. His classes will have you begging for more once you recover from his intense workouts. If your aim is to gain strength all around as a fighter Jason has what you are looking for. Omar Kasdi can show you the ground game and MMA universe. Omars students are evidence of his knowledge of some of the more technical and brutal aspects within martial arts. Omar is a brilliant and effective guide and leader into the arts. Last but surely not least is Byron Green. Byron is perfect in his role as the Head Youth MMA Trainer. He works incredibly well with kids of all ages. A true master of the arts and a very noble and kind spirit. Byron will transform your child into a healthier, more obedient and confident person with the right attitude and time allotted with your family. Do yourself a favor and check out PRS for yourself and see what Im talking about.
