Our daughter has gone to this school since Kindergarten and there is no place else she (or we) would want to be. The teachers are best-in-class, the environment encourages growth and the students feel like family. Best of all, the balance of academics and enrichment programs is something you just dont see in schools around the bay area.

We are so happy to be a part of the Oakwood Family! The staff is fabulous and extremely helpful. We love the communication between school and home. I highly recommend Oakwood to all of our friends and family and anyone who is looking for a fabulous education and caring environment for their children. ❤️

Oakwood is an incredible school! I attended 3rd grade through high school graduation and am so glad I made the decision to attend. The small atmosphere and knowledgeable and caring teachers and faculty members make going to Oakwood truly special. As I attend college, Ive found that Oakwood has more than prepared me for the rigors of college courses. I highly recommend it!

The elementary school has been exemplary for our family. The ECE and middle school were not. Sadly, I have had to lower my rating. The administration here will not work with you if there is an issue. They do not want you to call out any problems and are quick to shift blame to parents or students (even preschoolers!) instead. There is a frustrating amount of blame the victim mentality here. There are many wonderful teachers here. Its too bad there are also so many roadblocks to learning.

You may think Im biased and youre right! I have 3 boys at Oakwood and my 11th grader has been there since the age of 3 when he started preschool. Weve had some absolutely AMAZING teachers over the years that have taught my boys academics, life lessons, built up their character, given them confidence and helped shape them into the three wonderful boys they are.You can read about Oakwoods academic scores, student successes and athletic accomplishments in newspapers and reports but youll never understand the family atmosphere until you are there. At Oakwood, we are a family. Teachers and administration all know your child- their strengths, weaknesses, and individual personalities. But even more endearing is the relationships among the students. They are each others friends. They are little brothers and sisters to the upper class men and big brothers and sisters to the younger students. My favorite thing of all is that I know my boys are looked out for. Their grades will never slip without being noticed, their classmates will look out for them and they will be recognized for their accomplishments by the tight knit parent community. My boys have had the option to go somewhere else but have decided to stay all these years- intelligent boys making a very intelligent decision!

I began my adventures at Oakwood in 7th grade as a super shy student at the peak of my awkward stage. Oakwood slowly transformed me by allowing me to pursue my many diverse interests. Playing sports, writing and giving speeches, and leading community service organizations gave me a well rounded character that I could not have gotten by only challenging myself inside the classroom. A very unique aspect of Oakwood is its small size, and with its size comes the opportunity to take an interest and make it big. Fighting and overcoming the battles that comes with this entrepreneurship is incredibly rewarding. Oakwood also did give me the opportunity to challenge myself academically, and learning how to balance my activities with my many AP courses greatly helped me transition into college. Choosing Oakwood was the best decision for me as a student and a person, and I am forever grateful of my family there!

Our child was a mid-year transfer to Oakwood from a local public elementary school. What could have been a tough transition instead was seamless and incredibly positive. Within the first few days we knew it was the BEST decision we had EVER made. Our son was excited to talk about what he was learning in his classes. He found the curriculum to be interesting and the teaching style quite dynamic. He made comments like, “we get so much done because the kids aren’t disruptive!” and “the bathrooms are SO clean!” At public school his classroom was full of kids that were continually disruptive slowing down and/or stopping the teaching process every day and the bathrooms were being locked before noon because kids were flooding them on purpose. At Oakwood things were clearly different.Children and administrators greet parents dropping off children by opening car doors with a smile and saying, “have a good day!” The administration is very visible on campus, hands on, proactive and responsive. The campus and facilities are impeccably maintained, beautiful, warm and welcoming. Classrooms are engaging and teachers are clearly excited to be teaching. The curriculum is thoughtfully designed, full of rigor, and interesting. Students are engaged, attentive, and eager to learn. It is very clear that Oakwood teachers and staff are incredibly supportive and want their students to succeed. Respect for others, respect for school, respect for yourself are all hallmarks within the Oakwood community and are clearly evident on campus. Students are encouraged to be the best version of themselves and it shows. Oakwood is an incredible place to learn and grow. Now, three years later, we still feel that transferring to Oakwood was the best decision we’ve ever made. Our child continues to thrive and has truly blossomed into a confident, more independent, insightful, and engaging young man. He is excited to go to school every day and is incredibly proud to be an Oakwood student. We are always sharing our Oakwood experience with people we meet because we continue to be astonished at how different an Oakwood education is. At Oakwood student excellence is not just a goal. It is a reality. If you are looking for a school that focuses on your entire child, building academically strong, confident, respectful, independent, engaging, resilient students with strong character, then you should definitely visit Oakwood. We are SO glad we did!
