I went to jackson from 4th to 8th. the elementary experience is amazing, and recommend it, but the middle school experience is terrible. most of the teachers are just rude or dont care, but some of the teachers did. The music teacher was amazing and still is, but I really dislike that youre forced to play music, and they dont even give you an elective. theres no language class which will hurt you freshmen year of high school, and just jackson has so many toxic people. definitely go to jackson if youre in k-5th but please do not go here for middle school :) please listen to me parents as a person who went to this school.

Have the people putting horrible reviews on here even gone to JAMM, as they claim to? Im not so sure.. As a student who has attended Jackson for 9 years, since it was established, I can tell you that many of the things people have said in their reviews on here are lies. For example- that they make everyone BUY their own instrument for school, that there isnt a large selection, and that students arent taught to play. There is, in fact, a large selection of instruments available and if you are unable to get your own there are free loaners. The music teacher is great, and he has taught me so much about music theory, reading music, and more. Moving on- the criticism of the staff is quite sad. All of my teachers have been wonderful and do the best that they can. Also, to go as far to say that the staff is cruel, which Ive seen in a few reviews- is crazy. They are genuinely very kind and caring people. The academics are great too, and the teachers do, in fact, care a great deal about their students. So, if you are a parent thinking of sending your child to JAMM reading these reviews, dont let the comments about cruel staff or terrible academics make you change your mind, because theyre wrong. I am so grateful for my parents for sending me to this school. If you decide to send your student here, they will be thankful for it too!

I don’t go here but I know people who do. Almost everyone I’ve met accept a few are toxic and don’t get me started about how little they prepare you for high school. Students don’t get to pick electives they want let alone do they teach anything actually good for future.

I used to go to this school and I Definitely don’t miss it, it was a bad school just in general the teachers don’t care about you or your education, and it’s really dumb that you need to play music NOT EVERYONE WANTS TO PLAY AN INSTRUMENT. I think they should give us a choice to play an instrument, the lady’s at the front desk were rude and judge mental. I’m really glad I moved because where I live now the teachers are way better and they care about you, the schools here are way better where I live now just in general.

Im also very grateful my son and daughter go to this school. This is probably one of the last schools that teachers actually care about the children in their class. The middle school programs tries hard to get all kids involved. I only wish they had more after school sports programs for all grades.Great Job Mr. Buchser **

I am grateful that my son goes to this school. The principal and the teachers put a lot of extra time and effort to help my son achieve academically and help him manage middle school. I didnt expect this much attention and support to a student from a public school.

This school is bad. they force you to play an instrument.Somehow they fail to understand that would not only make the band sound bad, it would also cause many disruptions, because many kids are not interested

This school, is an absolute and complete disappointment. I don’t understand what the appeal is about this place, the educational program is confusing and the teachers don’t take time to explain everything in depth. The homework is packed with things you will never use in you’re life, here’s an example, write five paragraphs about a graph that took you literally one minute to make and then explain why you think it’s important, you get it? Me neither. Either I’m just really dumb or this school is putting to much pressure on their students, never in my life have I seen a school this hated, I’ve never met anyone whose actually liked this school. And as you can see, most of the reviews on here are made by students, you can clearly see just how much hate this place is getting, and for you parents out there, please look closely at the amount of criticism here and hopefully, you won’t send your kid here. Please don’t make your kids go here, nothing about this school is good, I’m serious, please never consider this school and pick some other school. And for those of you who do go here right now, I feel sorry for you.

Our boys are in 2nd and 3rd grade and just started at Jackson this year. The teachers and staff were very welcoming which help make the transition smooth. Im really impressed with all my kids are learning from the music classes. They can both play some piano now! Were now more than half way through the year and my kids are still excited to go to school in the morning!

Hello, I’ve been attending Jackson or JAMM for seven years. In my time as a student I have learned nothing about keeping good morals or friendships (despite what the school suggested) JAMM, which claims to be both math and music based has not gone “above” any of the math or music standards which the school says it surpasses. The majority of the staff is cruel, and fails to understand or try comprehend both sides of any arguments that takes place between my fellow students. The school also has many unfulfilling and expensive dances. And even the teachers running ASB lack in trying to make the school a better place (by not allowing students to share/shutting down their ideas). Most of the homework we get is not beneficial and the math is below grade level (from what I know) The staff also tends to ignore important problems, only paying attention to the bare minimum. Most of my peers are not correctly discipline and fail to get chastised by the staff for any sort of wrong doing. And don’t even get me started on the excuse they have for a track. As a student interested in cross country I was extremely excited when the principle announced the construction of a track. However he delayed the construction of the track by a year and gave us a low quality track in return. The music program is poorly funded, having both the teachers and students bring in instrument of their own (which most of the students won’t even use after graduating from JAMM) the school doesn’t have electives and replaces them with mandatory music. My assumption is that it is because of budget cuts/ the stingyness of the school. The school also has a “if one student does something wrong, punish the whole class” system, which I think is absolute terrible. The punishment system makes the students who try to behave want to misbehave because they know that they’ll get in trouble ether way. The school also has terrible P.E. Equipment, and terrible custodians as well. My fear is that most students that graduate from JAMM will fail in high school because of the lack of work they receive( both as homework and class work). I think it isn’t impossible for the school to improve, just highly unlikely (until it gets a new principal)

This establishment is an utter disappointment. I cannot express how painfully irritated I am with this school, specifically its principal, and its office staff. The principal is acutely petty, standoffish, and passive- aggressive, when I spoke to him, he wouldnt look me in the eye. The office staff is composed of stingy old women, who get worked up over the most trivial of circumstances. Though I have never seen it displayed outright, I am sure there is some is some sort of misogynistic essence floating around the principal, he is a shady character. This dystopian, and acidic setting is definitely not a safe learning environment for young children or middle-schoolers alike. I regret ever setting foot in this school, DO NOT BURDEN YOUR CHILDREN WITH THE GRIEVOUS OF ATTENDING THIS HORRIFIC EXCUSE FOR A SCHOOL!!!
