Graham Shiels class is the best Ive found in LA in a long time. Hes working on current applicable scripts with techniques that will help you book auditions. Graham and Crystal are both very talented actors as well as engaging, understanding, lovely and entertaining people! Ill continue training here for a very long time!

My time at Graham Shiels Studio has been wonderful! They offer a very supportive environment with very insightful teachers. What I love about studying here is the amount of individual attention each student gets. When you get up to work a scene or do an on camera audition, you get the opportunity to do it multiple times and incorporate feedback to feel how it makes an immediate difference. I really appreciate that because in other classes often you get feedback but not the chance to try it out. Both Graham and Crystal are very observant and help stretch the actors to go beyond their comfort zones. They are very knowledgeable about both the craft and the business. You get to work with current material which is great. You can bring in sides for an upcoming audition and work that material. There are opportunities to audition in front of agents and have a Q&A every month. Overall a great place to be for a working actor!

Im fairly new to Grahams studio but so far I am really loving it. I have been to other studios in LA, and this one feels right. We always work on material that is current and being cast. Grahams approach is caring and intuitive, but he doesnt coddle. Hes been in the business for sometime and knows what life is like in casting rooms, on set, and what will get you in those doors. Youre responsible for your own acting career, and Graham will give you the tools to help you get there. Im currently in a class that offers audition technique one week and scene work the other, I find it to be the perfect balance. Crystal also teaches this class, another working actor who is intelligent, savvy, and can decipher which actors need what to enhance confidence in their craft. Love this studio and recommend it to anyone who is serious about becoming a working actor.

For a person from India, GSS has been one of the most friendly and accommodating Acting schools available in Hollywood. I would particularly like to thank Crystal. She has been incredibly supportive and given positive feedback for improvement. I just wish I had more time and my budget permitted to continue for a few more weeks. Thanks Graham!

I love being part of Graham Shiels Studio, and I am learning so much. It is incredibly valuable to be able to watch your work on camera and really dig into the craft of acting, with others who truly care, every week. Since being in the class, my audition bookings have gone up and I just feel more confident in my ability to create. The atmosphere for learning is openly beautiful and Graham is the most graciously wonderful person. (Truly, I dont think you will find an acting coach with a better heart.) He is an incredible actor himself, and learning from someone who is doing so well in the industry is THE BEST WAY to learn. He also cares a lot about his actors and puts up showcases for us to gain our own industry visibility. Its great. Oh, and it is affordable and always fair...giving us discount incentives for early payments and honoring our payments from absences. So nice. Graham is seriously one of the best teachers in this industry! The classes are not to big so you get a lot of individual attention. Your able to have a safe space to take chances on your work and craft. Graham is great about helping you find whats best for you, so that when you do have an audition or on set your able to feel comfortable to take the tools and apply it. Training here has been incredible- eye opening, inspiring, and so much fun. Graham and Crystal both offer so much experience and insight. The environment is comfortable and supportive, yet challenging in the best ways. With both scene study and audition technique, you get a very well-rounded approach to screen acting. When I first moved to LA I audited a ton of acting classes to see which one was a great fit for me and Graham Shiels Studios was a clear choice! Most acting studios and classes will have you work on the same scene as the rest of the class, and these scenes will either be from a textbook, or a famous play/movie/TV show, thus being a scene you’d probably never realistically audition for. But in Graham’s class, you are casted in a different role every week, based on your type (so you’re working on stuff you could possibly go out for), and these scenes are also from actual auditions that are currently happening! So you are constantly working on new and current material, amongst people who are actively working in the industry. I’ve learnt so much just from watching how other working actors take direction from Graham and I really like the notes he gives us to guide us into making stronger choices while acting so we can stand out and make the best possible performance at an audition. Can’t wait to continue to learn more as a student at GSS!

Within the first year with Graham I booked a couple of big feature films that included my first chemistry read and worked in Canada for the first time; because of Grahams coaching and being in his class Ive had lots of FIRST big breaks and it still continues!!!!!Interesting choices we hear all the time, Graham teaches that! He has a keen eye for detail, articulates with practical language and tangible techniques that often gave me lots of aha moments. Each class you work AT LEAST twice exploring every nook and cranny in the scene; this has taught me a lot about myself and the need to pay attention to detail.Every class I learn something new; I love it!Graham is also extremely patient, genuinely cares about all of us in class and extraordinarily generous w/ his knowledge. Graham and Crystal are working actors, so it’s nice to know they understand what you’re going through in trying to navigate the pursuit of acting. I started getting more theatrical auditions with my new agency, so my manager thought it would be a good idea to private coach for my auditions. It was my first time really diving into theatrical coaching, so I was nervous and didnt know what to expect, but wow, I am so glad my manager led me to Graham.I started private coaching earlier this year, and I instantly felt like I was discovering so much about myself as an actor. I was really interested in his class setting on top of the private coaching I was doing, so I went to audit, and instantly wanted to join the class (which by the way, is one of the most affordable and you get so much for your buck).Everyone makes class such a supportive environment. Even when were working through mental blocks, making specific choices, making the wrong choices, etc. Its cool to see the passion Graham has for not only the art, but each individual student. Being a trained actress who graduated with a BFA in acting as well as couple of certificates from various other acting programs. After graduating from CalArts I couldnt find a studio that kept me practicing my craft. I then stumbled upon Grahams studio and instantly fell in love with the way he taught. I am so happy to have found a home at Graham Shiels Studios. I was initially skeptical about acting classes in Los Angeles and wondered if I would be able to find a class that is worth the price with a teacher that I could believe in. I can confidently say that Grahams training is worth it. He is a working actor with a realistic knowledge of the business and great personal training. Not only are his methods superb, he gives so much focus to each student without ever taking time from another. I completely trust in his practice and leave class feeling like I got a great acting work out. Another major bonus are the monthly agency audition nights! Everyone who I have dealt with on the administration side is lovely. I cannot recommend this studio enough!

After spending two years studying sketch comedy, I knew I needed to change things up and work on audition technique. Grahams class does exactly that. Graham teaches you how to break down sides for shows and films that are currently auditioning. Ive been working my whole life as an actor - back in Mexico and now in the U.S. - I audited Grahams class in June after an exhaustive research of 23 acting schools in LA, I made my final top 7 - I audited 5 schools (inc. Graham) and paid 2 more introductory classes - and all I can say is: he is the teacher that any actor would be grateful to have, he is the place to stay and LEARN. He is generous - as I teacher myself (Im also a teacher in my native language) I can tell right away when someone LOVES to teach, and HE DOES - He is the first teacher in LA that doesnt make me feel like a number or a check in his pocket. Ive been coming to GSS for almost a year and I couldnt be happier. Many studios want you to take several courses, learn from assistants before you actually learn from the teacher whos name is on the door. With Graham you start right away. I am so happy I found GSS! Ive been taking classes with Graham for the last 4 months and hes helped me really grow as an actor. Working with Graham is the real deal. The structure of his class was exactly what I was looking for, and he truly takes to the time to make every actor better. Graham is great. He takes a genuine interest in his students and their progress. I am fairly new to the studio and I appreciate being able to ask repeated questions about the technique he teaches, particularly when it comes to auditioning. He always takes the time to explain. Auditioning is rarely taught in acting classes and I like his insight into the process.

Grahams Class is a great tool in sharpening your skills. The focus lies in audition techniqe and delivering an honest performance. Every other class is run like an audition and taped so you can go back and see your choices and learn from your mistakes. Graham is great at getting you to open your skill set especially when you encounter material you feel is not right for you. Even if you cant jump into class he has great insight for audition coaching and self tapes.

Ive said it before and Ill say it again. Hes amazing. Graham helped change my acting immediately. The first audition I went out on after starting his class, I booked. His thought process in helping you figure out your characters wants and understanding the script from a different viewpoint is so valuable. The thing that I like the most is that he practices what he preaches. As a working actor he is doing as he teaches and leading by example. He is great at getting you to go deeper than you would have without his guidance and finding that ah-ha moment. I tell everybody about his class. Fantastic.

Hes affordable, so I was able to train with him privately on a regular basis, and whenever I have a major audition, he has always squeezed me in for a session at the last minute. I can not say enough great things about Graham! His knowledge is vast due to the fact that he is a working actor and graduated from Yale school of drama. He does a fantastic job on coaching to the strengths and weaknesses of each actor. His attention to detail allows him to give very constructive and straightforward feedback. I love that his class keeps me on my toes and a few times a month we record our auditions, which is very helpful. Graham is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had a HUGE series regular 7 page audition and less than 24 hours to prepare. He broke down the scene with me and pushed me to do better, find stronger choices and understand the levels and layers to the character. Graham is everything! He will take his time with you and really help you choose the best direction for you and your character. Prepping with him was the best decision I ever made. When I finished the audition, the CD was AMAZED and said I really did my work and really put forth the effort. I for sure recommend him and trust him especially with challenging and emotional material.

Youre very lucky to find Grahams class. I can honestly say this as I have tried different classes over years. In acting classes, we feel vulnerable as we put our heart out there for others to judge. We want to be in a safe environment with a teacher we respect for his ability, knowledge, experience, and very importantly his character. Graham gives you creative insights as well as practical guidance which I believe can only be given by a real working actor like him. You are given straightforward feedback on what you need to work on, and are also encouraged by finding your own strength from his objective opinions. In each class we are given plenty of time to work. I started taking his class in April 2016, and have almost never missed his class. Looking so much forward to it every week! His private coaching is also truly invaluable.My only regret is that I did not find him earlier.

Im completely new to acting and when I first joined the class it can be intimidating to a new-comer. Ive studied a great number of places throughout my career and have a hard time committing to one environment for any sort of stretch - either feeling like Im stagnating or not being challenged. Graham meets an actor where they are and helps build on what theyve already prepared. The result is a perpetual feeling of support while also understanding that there is always more work to be done. The material selected each week for class offers plenty to suss out and, if an audition comes in, Graham is extremely giving in terms of class time to work on the material.Because of his education and background, I think he has also drawn in an incredibly intelligent community of actors for his class, so the feedback youre receiving from your peers, in addition to Graham, makes his classes invaluable. I feel like Ive hit a new stride in my work and Im encouraged to take risks I would not have considered prior. GSS is the first acting studio I have taken classes at so I was really nervous. Everyone is super welcoming and the classes are a nice size to keep the work intimate and truthful. I love the lab, the on-going class pre-requisite, as it gives you an idea of what it is like to work with each of the amazing instructors. I am currently in the on-going class with Graham and Crystal and I feel like I am learning so much. Both of them teach in such unique and valuable ways and I am able to get a lot from both of them. Both of them really care about making you the best. I also really appreciate the structure of the class. Each week alternates between scene study and camera/audition prep. I think this is really useful for someone like myself who has very little experience in both. Overall I love the studio and am excited to continue learning and taking classes.

I was with a coach pretty much for 10 years because I have a hard time finding someone that I trust and actually get challenged in the right ways. I tried many coaches within the past 10 years but always went back to the same guy. Last year my coach for the past several years got too busy and couldnt continue his coaching, so I was on the search for a new class. I tried multiple more when I finally came across Graham. I am glad I did, classes are fun, creative and different throughout the month. I love that we have the option to film ourselves during class as well. Glad that I found my new creative space :)

I went to a few studios in LA before landing in Grahams class and I was so excited to find this community. Its exactly what I needed. He teaches based on his education and his 20 years working in the industry. Classes are small, we always work, and Graham is always available for questions or last-minute coaching for self tapes / auditions. The studio is beautifully lit with a painted wall as a backdrop and makes tapes look outstanding.

Reasonable price + good advice and feedback on your work. We always do latest scripts. Feedback and advice are very relevant to what is exactly required for auditions & for the shoot. Every class I learn more and more its never boring or monotonous. A very supportive group of people in class. Lot of positive and constructive criticism on work which actually motivates you to perform better. And everybody just keeps booking shows. I know we all actors keep changing acting classes so frequently but students here learn and grow so much that they actually stick around.

As this was my first time enrolling in an acting class, I audited a few different classes in the LA area - Graham Shiels Studios was by far my favorite. Graham received training from Yale School of Drama and is also currently working himself. The class is not only taught by a reputable teacher but also one who is up-to-date on the latest changes in the industry. He is also always available to answer any questions we might have or offer his advice on getting representation, breaking into the industry, etc. I have not done so yet as Im brand new, but I hear he is also always available for self-taping which I find extremely accommodating.I also find that since I enrolled in this class, Im more confident in my acting (Ive been in a few student films, but nothing major) and never thought I would be so comfortable on-stage talking in front of groups of people. My first set of classes are almost over, but I definitely plan to enroll in the next set!

I stumbled upon Grahams Studio by accident online and Im really glad I did. I attend his on-going camera class and coach privately for auditions with him. Hes got great insight and helps you find choices in the material that arent obvious but will make you stand out in the audition room. Hes very dedicated and spends plenty of time working with each student in class to make sure everyone is learning and gets the chance to drive different things and explore. Highly recommend.

When looking for acting classes in LA I was very afraid I would go into a class of more trained students and with not much experience would feel out of place. Ive been at GSS for three months now, and I can really see my growth and confidence show up on set and in the audition room. The class environment is supportive and also very professional. At least once or twice a month he will have an agent/manager night where he will invite reps ranging from small to big agencies to come watch us work. This is included in the monthly tuition which I find it to be super affordable relative to other acting classes in town. Graham is a skilled teacher with lots of tangible applicable insight. Ive been acting for 15 years, Ive been taught by a handful of really creative and talented teachers. There is no ego to Grahams approach, he really stands alone in my book in terms of really empowering us and giving us applicable tools to use while we are working.

Graham is a supportive, knowledgable, and extremely insightful teacher! The class is a great environment to sharpen your skills and to play for the fun of the craft. It is highly encouraged that simply working on yourself for the sake of working on yourself is some of the best work you can do as an actor. I had a lot of theater training and Graham has helped me to work on not only film and television technique, but also on all the different genres of the movies and shows. This class has helped me up my audition game in a very short time! He also brought in agents for mock auditions and one of them called me in!

I really like this studio!! Graham is so talented, not just as an actor but as a teacher as well! He spent years figuring out what works in this industry and what we need to do to speed up our careers. Then he put it all together in his class to save his students some time. This is the best place to train! You get to train with the working! The teachers are actually working actors that have been or are currently series regulars! I was referred to Graham Shiels Studio (GSS) by my Manager. I was just getting back into an acting career that I had begun but never really pursued many years ago. After retiring from my day job, I decided I wanted to pursue that which eluded me so many years ago. Enrolling in GSS was the best decision I ever made!! So far, I have worked with all 3 instructors, Graham, Desean, & Crystal and have found them to be creative, focused, supportive and very professional. Not surprising since each of them has Series Regular Credits and are YALE School of Drama and JULLIARD Grads!!! It doesnt get any better than that my friends. Great on camera audition class! Most classes you do your scene, get notes and then are told to return with those notes following week. In this class you perform what you worked on in the first half and then in the second you’ll do it again and every moment that needs adjustment will be worked on! And not only is that great but you’re being taught by an actor who’s also out there auditioning/working as well. So you’re being given advice thats very current (which is amazing because some might be outdated..). So if youre looking for an on camera audition class then this class would definitely be worth checking out!

I LOOOVE working with graham and all the teachers at his studio, they have been in the business for a long time they know exactly how to get you ready for the room, I coached with graham the other day for an audition and when I was in the room they literally asked me to do all the things that he taught me to do, O and I got a callback 😊 training with the working is always good. I have been to SO many acting schools in los angeles. What i love about Graham is that he is very perceptive and intuitive about what each student needs to make their scenes come to life and become more riveting. its also a great to exercise the audition muscle so frequently, and to work on current material instead of plays from 100 years ago (which have their merit of course). this class is very industry focused and has given me some clarity in terms of what shows i would be good for, as well as the opportunity to meet and read for agents every month. i am so thankful to have found this class, its clear Graham cares about the artistic and professional development of all of his students.

Started working with Graham a few years back at another acting studio, also had a private coaching session with him, and he always has a way to communicate what needs to be done in the scene. I recently started taking classes again, and of course I decided to take his class because its awesome. Very straightforward, no BS, says it like it is. I feel like every time I work on a scene in class, I have an aha moment and think, OMG why didnt I see that? -- Aaand thats why Im in this class because it helps my craft enormously. Also, its great because it alternates on-cam audition and scene work, not like a traditional scene study class, this is more of a chemistry audition, which is great, Ive never had an audition like this, but Id like to be ready when I get one. Because the class is small, each scene is workshopped in the same class, kinda like a real audition when they give you adjustments after your first take, gotta learn how to really listen and execute efficiently. Totally recommend this class.
