There’s not enough words to express my gratitude to the coaches and staff at Rowland Ballard-Kingwood over the past 7 years. I’m especially grateful for Coach David and all he’s done for my daughter as her gymnastics coach these past 5 years. He’s been so passionate about the development of his team and has done such as awesome job preparing them for the more advanced levels. He will always have a special place in our hearts as the journey continues for my daughter in her gymnastics career. Thank you Coach David for the countless number of hours you’ve spent with my sweet girl helping her to fulfill her dreams in this sport. She most definitely wouldn’t be where she is if it weren’t for you…🥰

When we moved to Kingwood 8 years ago, we did our research and decided Rowland Ballard was the best fit for us. Our daughter started dancing at an early age and we were looking for a studio that would continue to foster her love of all dance. We have not been disappointed and have been impressed by the professionalism at all levels. Our daughter has been taught by most of the dance teachers at Rowland Ballard and besides being skilled, experienced, creative and knowledgeable, they also teach with their hearts. She has gained lifelong friends in both the teachers and students and has worked her way up to dance with Kingwood Dance Theatre, the pre-professional ballet company in residence at Rowland Ballard. She has enjoyed participating in first-class performances, some of which include The Nutcracker and various storybook ballets. Through dance and the excellent instruction at Rowland Ballard, our daughter has gained poise and confidence that will last a lifetime!

The quality of training in the Rowland Ballard School of Dance is excellent. The teachers have impressive backgrounds in ballet, modern and jazz. My daughter has attended the dance school for 12 years and is planning on making a career in dance. The dance training she has received has helped her to be accepted into several summer ballet Intensives and now colleges with dance programs. The school offers several opportunities for it’s students to perform for the public such as in The Nutcracker Ballet and a spring storybook ballet. My daughter has made lifelong friends of not only her fellow dance students, but also her dance teachers.

There are a lot of ways this gym could improve, but mostly, they should be patient with young children. Especially since they also operate a preschool there. My 4 year old son started kindergym there with coach J. She randomly one day pulled me aside to express concerns about my son’s “behavior.” My husband and I had talks with him at home about listening and took some of his favorite things away to earn back with good behavior reports from coach J. After coach j expressed her concern, I was watching him like a hawk during class. I never took my eyes off him and did not notice a single instance of him misbehaving. Not one single time. However, after that class she again came up to me saying that his behavior was “the worst it had ever been.” I would accept this concern if I hadn’t been watching him the entire class, but I had been. My son was trying his best to do what she expected. I hope that in the future the staff is more patient with young children as they all develop at different rates.

I am a former Rowland Ballard dancer and now a parent of a dancer at Rowland Ballard. We cant recommend it highly enough. If you are looking for quality training that will allow your child to pursue dance as a career while making it fun, this is it. The teachers encourage a love for the art of ballet and other forms of dance and are dedicated to their students, whether a student is just there for fun or is a serious student. Many dancers I grew up with have gone on to professional careers in dance. The quality of intentional instruction makes Rowland Ballard dancers competitive with those of other high quality pre-professional schools. Those of us who did not took the lessons in discipline and dedication that we learned in ballet and applied those to our chosen careers. The focus is on the art form here.

Both of our daughters have attended Rowland Ballard Academy and it was one of the best investments in their future we have made. The entire staff has been outstanding. Both girls have enjoyed the gymnastics, ballet, some sports and a great curriculum. The teacher to student ratio is high and they love your kids as if they were their own.Everyone from the director to the front desk do a great job and passion and pride for what they do shows. If you are considering placing your child in a preschool this is the place to go. Reach out to Mr. Patrick for a tour and see for yourself.

Our daughter has been a dance student at Rowland/Ballard for more than 10 years, and were so happy she has been able to receive high caliber classical ballet training so close to our home. She started in the creative dance program at 3 years old and is now a member of Kingwood Dance Theatre (KDT), a pre-professional ballet program thats housed at Rowland/Ballard. All of the dance staff from ballet, modern, and jazz to tap have been outstanding. Not only do they bring professional experience and/or training to the students, but theyre also very encouraging and nurturing. The dancers love performing in the annual Nutcracker and storybook ballets, which also help them to gain valuable stage experience. The KDT Nutcracker has been a community staple for more than 30 years! Our daughter is very happy with the training she has received at Rowland/Ballard. Weve also witnessed Rowland/Ballard and KDT alumni continue their training into college and in the professional dance world.

I have been dancing at Rowland Ballard for 13 years, and since then I have never wanted to leave. Rowland Ballard has provided an amazing dance education, a home, a family, and so much joy. As a dancer for the pre-professional company, Kingwood Dance Theatre, I have the amazing opportunity to work with all of the amazing and caring teachers. Attending at Rowland’s has not only taught me dance criteria, but it has taught me serval important life skills such as: time management, dedication, perseverance, and discipline. Rowland Ballard has a great facility that is safe and fun to work/learn in. Rowland’s has provided numerous amazing opportunities for me, and always seek the best for their dancers, gymnasts, and pre-schoolers. From the front desk, to the dance studios, to the gym, and pre-school, the growth opportunities, attention, and care of Rowland Ballard never fails, it is an amazing foundation for dance, gymnastics, and the pre-school.

Coach David damaged my daughter’s confidence as an athlete. We landed at Rowland Ballard in Kingwood the first year they had a competitive team. They told us the team at Rolland Ballard in Atascocita was full. The first year was all training and no competing. However at the end of the year my daughter competed in her first team meet (against all her teammates). The competition ended with my daughter placing first in two events, second in one event and FIRST OVERALL!! However, by the time the season started for her to compete against other teams, she didn’t even make the roster to compete; she was an alternate. The gym we previously came from, we done privates every single week because I know my child needs 1:1 attention. When I asked the coach David if he could work us in privates he said, “they currently weren’t offering any” he even brought his assistant coach over to further confirm that there were no privates at that time. However, after sitting in the parent area during practice, I heard another mom talking about how her daughter was taking privates every week...I confronted him about it and of course he was then willing to take my money and do privates. After two seasons with this team and slowly seeing all the other athletes become better and better and my daughter remain at the ability she was when we first came was frustrating. Coach David told some of the older the girls (including Kaleah) they would have to try out for the team at the Atascocita location. I then asked if he would work with her on her back handspring before tryouts. His response “you can work with her, because I’ve tried.” I walked out of there and never paid that place another dime. I tried to get my daughter to join other gyms for gymnastics but she refused. What I didn’t find out until recently is, that that same day we left, during practice he called the girls in one by one and what he told my daughter was “You’re older and tall; maybe you should try another sport like swim or something”If I wasn’t before, I am utterly disgusted. My daughter was only 9yrs old at the time. A supposed Coach is always supposed to build up their athletes, not tear them down!

The Academy at Rowland Ballard is the best, hands down! When I first put my son in the academy, he couldnt point out most letters in the alphabet. Within 3 months, he was writing his name and learning to read sight words. The academy has far exceeded my expectations, and I am amazed daily at how they constantly go above and beyond. My son has so much more confidence now, and always is so excited to show me what he is learning! It is the BEST.

We love Mrs. Kandi, Mrs. West, Mr. Patrick, and all of the teacher assistants! They really prepare their students for Humble ISD Kindergarten, my daughter was beyond prepared after attending The Academy! Students get to do 3 days of gym or 2 days of gym and 1 day of dance. Students every get to do Sportsball every other week! Students get traditional carpet time, jobs, centers, handwriting/skill practice, recces, theme weeks, math, science, literacy, Spanish, and MORE! Both of my children attend/attended The Academy and I wouldnt send them anywhere else.
