Being the parent of 2 Energy students, I am so far satisfied of how my children are doing at school. My son has been at the school for 2 years and loves it there and has very good grades. My daughter is a freshman and at the beginning had some trouble adjusting to the way the school works as far as project based learning because she had to trust and delegate responsibilities to her peers which she was not use to, but know is doing wonderful. You do have to know, that this school is not for everyone especially if you dont do well communicating and working with others. To my nephew Bryan Pizano please watch your language and to be fair you were just at the school 1 semester, so maybe you didnt give it enough time to see if you could adapt with the project based learning experience, but I am happy that you are now at the school were you feel you can do adjust and do better for yourself. Wherever you are just remember it takes effort and dedication. Best of luck to everyone no matter were you decide to go for high school! :)

Wonderful teachers although the administration is a little too assertive.

After three years with this school, I realized many change happened last year. First of all, we did not have many more field trip to attend as the administration began to lack of responsibility (laziness). Second, they were very bias toward specific group of students. These students were allowed to participate in every school activities, however these activities also hurt them in the way that they did not get full attention for their knowledge. They began to get behind or the teachers had to give them less work. Third, the school administration were discriminated toward specific group teachers and I saw many of my teachers run away such as Spanish and Math. They did not completely cover the Texas TEKs that they were supported to do due to PBL because the valuable time were used for the projects. Every teaching technique has it own cons and pros. Specially, PBL allow more real life experience but also reduced amount of knowledge learning. For example, the knowledge of text book is like the world, PBL only cover a region in this text book such as North America. They argued that we learned deeper and critical understand but only the sections that were taught. As I believed, as our high school level, the material should be covered in a wider range so that we started to narrow it down in College. It was not supported to be now. They can argue that it is better for you to learn now but What if you decide to change your major or your career. Wide range will prepare you better in general before making a future decision. You never ever know what happen next.Last but not least, the deans loved to help other races except African American students. We knew that we caused a lot of troubles but they should help us rather than turning all of us away. They said this school needs diversity but all I saw were a combination of Hispanic dean and they believed that they can understand and deal with black students and parents. In addition, many students are not motivated to stay in this school but our parents just wanted to send us here. Please find the place where we are belonged to.Parents before you make an important decision, do not ask the students in your tour but just come to the school random day, ask the student on the street. They will tell you more the truth about this school. This school was great only for the one that having tutoring at home and coming to school for hand-on experience. If you dont have the support, try to find sth that fitted.I hoped that administration read these above information and make a change in our school community. They are cooled only to those students they liked.
