I’m now an eighth grader here, let me tell you this. Parents, if you’re looking for a good education for your kids, this is the school you’re looking for. The teachers are amazing. although, I advise you to pack your kid a lunch. The uniforms are kind of a drag but still it’s an excellent school! We eat lunch at our desks so there’s no trouble of picking a table in a cafeteria like other schools. Some of the substitutes they hire are not so great, but most of them are chill.

DO NOT GO TO THIS SCHOOL, I wish I could give it 0 stars. This school is understaffed and extremely terrible. The middle school wing is closing down next year and Im in 7th grade at the moment. All of 7th, 6th, and 8th grade share classes and we dont have art or a math teachers so we are heavily understaffed. The food here is so bad and full of preservatives and since we dont have a cafeteria we finally started putting tables in the gym. The students here are rude and disruptive, some teachers are extremely rude and strict but there are a few good ones. Ive been going to this school for a while and it is absolutely disgusting. Our bathrooms are vandalized and nobody is doing anything about it, nobody cleans it at all. This schools dress code is the definition of an abomination. The uniforms here are extremely uncomfortable. Principal Fuller is not a good principal, even I could be a better one. This school is entirely out of whack. The drop off/pick up system is so bad, it takes forever and is so dumb. I wouldnt recommend that anyone go here. Fin.

There should be a rule in Googles algorithm for stopping small children giving their school a negative review because they dont like it. I went here, most of the teachers were excellent; most importantly, all of the faculty were working harder than their public school counterparts for less the pay. CCA may not have everything that public schools have because its a CHARTER SCHOOL and cannot entirely rely on government spending to keep the lights on and the teachers from begging in front of Comerica Park on game day. The education I recieved at CCA (although I might not have been the most attentive student at the time) helped me throughout High School and my first years in College. Would I ever want to go back? No, but Im not going to go on Google reviews and blast them because Mr. Wyly put his arms up and said Gentlemen, really? to me once.

Many people hate this school because of the fact that some students dont have the freedom to go the bathroom without signing out one at a time (both boys and girls). They dont have a cafeteria and the school lunches there are undercooked and not fresh. When you arrive here on the first day of school, you cant find space to park and youll be forced to be parked in the grass. During a normal day, youll have to arrive there by 8:20. During casual dress day, Boys cannot wear sweatpants, girls cannot wear skinny jeans and shorts. According to the parent teacher handbook, if you dont believe me you can check, student cannot wear shorts in trimester 3. During dismissal, many parents have to leave late because there are too much cars and traffic.

So youre probably wondering why you should listen to my review. Well the thing is Ive been at this school for 9 years and I made sure it counted each and every year. When I looked at CCA I saw friendships being made and good education. I enjoyed CCA, and I think a bit too much. I say that because I liked it so much they sucked me into this system of who is better than who which isnt the importance of a good education. Kids bragged about their map test scores and some kids were too ashamed of their intelligence because these teachers set the standards way too high. All Im saying is this school needs to live in the present and not in the past when we had the third best highest scoring map test results. That was when I was in second grade! Today, i just left CCA and its been a hell of a ride let me tell you. If youre looking for a great place that has a great education for your kid, try this school. You always have the right to withdraw your child. Im not mad at this school dont get me wrong, but when we have a school who is turning 20 years old next year and still doesnt have a cafeteria and a more loose dress code system where girls and guys can where some casual clothes on what is supposed to be a casual dress day then Im sorry to tell you but we havent changed our problems. Weve focused on topics we already know, but just dont know how to perform like self control or perseverance. Lets take perseverance for example. You dont have to create a whole morning class just to acknowledge the fact that you need to try to achieve. Your daily struggles are what teach you the most. Your life experiences are the most helpful experience you will get. If this school changes some things that I have mentioned then perfect, you have a very good school. But for now, I want to that all the teachers and friends Ive had from then until now. Please take this review into consideration and thank you.

Although I got a good education, this school was the worst. They changed the logo. They Don’t have a cafeteria. The gym floor is dirtier than a rotting rat in a New York subway station. The water tastes nasty. When washing your hands with the useless soap that DOESN’T EVEN CLEAN the water gets cold if someone flushes. They changed the principal from Mrs.H to Mrs.Magyar. Mrs. Magyar did not discipline at all, and then they decided to change principals again. To MRS.FULLER. Worst. Choice. Ever. The school has gone downhill ever since. Our acedemic placings are slowly declining, and the principal’s daughter never gets punished. Also, all our sports teams suck (except girls soccer). Worst of all, the dress code. I understand girls shouldn’t be able to wear short shorts or yoga pants/leggings, but the girls cannot wear skinny jeans. Yeah, um why doesn’t the principal or deans go down to shop and find out how hard it is to find non skinny jeans for girls these days. I would recommend this school for grades k-2. Also, NO CAFETERIA!!!!!!

I was a student here from k-8th grade, and, overall, it was an okay place. However, there were many things I really disagreed with. First of all, the dress code was far too strict. For a short period of time, the middle school dean would send girls to the hallway to check if they were dress code or not. The school, also, does not prepare you in the social aspect of high school. Since its such a close knit community, you will feel misplaced if you go to a public school. Academically, however, it does support you better than regular public middle schools. The problem is that the school doesnt allow you to advance past algebra one. The students who did really well in the Map test would sit in the back and play computer games the entire class period. Overall, it helped me to be successful, but like any other schools, CCA does have downfalls.

Theres a reason most of these reviews are one star. The staff here is unnaturally strict- the dress code is also ridiculous, and students are expected to run in gym class in uncomfortable uniforms. The food that is served here isnt nearly enough to be considered a meal, and more often than not the quality of the food is poor as well. Food is undercooked- which is considered hazardous, especially in a school environment with so many young students. For a school with such high standards, it certainly doesnt meet up to any expectations.

Before I begin, I am sorry for making this long and for probably wasting your time. Either way, this might be helpful to any parents trying to get their child in the school and need info.I had gone to this school from 7th to 8th grade, and in those two years, I learned a lot -- in academics and about the school. At the beginning of 7th grade, I was skittish. I didnt know what to expect. However, I had made friends hastily in the first week of school. Those friends, though, told me a lot about the schools preceding conditions, saying it was better before the principal, Mrs. Fuller, took the place of the previous principal, Mrs. Magyar. However, they thought the principal before her, Mrs. H., was the best. The deans, in my and my friends opinions, were fine. Getting back on track, I had made good friends who I still do miss very much today. On the first day of school, everything was going fine -- and then it was time for lunch. As I was about to walk around, looking for the cafeteria, one of my friends named Bilal (pretty nice and weird guy) told me to get in our homeroom class. I remember thinking, What? No cafeteria? Now, I had been to many schools before, five, to be exact, and each one had a cafeteria. This was the first school without one. Now lets get onto the teachers. The 7th-grade teachers were really good. Mrs. Bowers and Mrs. Hagan were probably my favored, not to forget Mr. Lindquist. However, Mr. Wyly, the science teacher, didnt top the list. I personally admired science, but Mr. Wyly made it less fun than it should have been. The presentations, notes, and projects couldve been better. That didnt stop me from learning anything though. I had learned a lot in that year, and I wont forget the teachers and students. In the next year, I was in 8th grade. I felt better about this year, now that I knew what was going on and that I had had good friends already. My 8th grade year was probably the best year of school in my life. The teachers were great, the students were great, the trips were great. Having senior-ism and just playing around, having fun in classes with my friends was great (shout out to the Squad Fam, Kaab, Josh, and Luke). The teachers were Mrs. Hollandsworth (nice, but didnt really care a lot about what I and my friends did), Mrs. Odeh (strict, but good at teaching), Mr. Lindquist (same description as Mrs. Odeh), and Mr. Wyly (same old Mr. Wyly). One of the trips we had was for Chicago. It was three days in a good hotel, with almost all of your friends, exploring Chicago. It was a very memorable trip and I do suggest going there for any incoming 8th graders (if it is still there). Anyways, we had good fun there and a great experience. Now to talk about the schools sports teams. I wasnt on any of them, but judging from the stats in both school years, the teams were not that good, yet not too bad. The boys soccer was pretty good. The girls soccer was exceptionally great. The girls volleyball was also good. The cross country team (for both) was pretty good. However, the basketball teams (for both) were trash. They were not that good, and many students can agree on that. After making so many friends and having so much fun (in just two years), it was time to say goodbye. Although I had been there for a very short time, I was feeling very sad to leave. My classmates were great, and I didnt want to leave them. I still remember them all and wont ever forget them.Overall, this school was a good school. I dont know how it compares to other charter schools, but I personally liked it. All it really needed was a better science teacher for the 7th and 8th grade, a cafeteria, and a way better principal. These were just my opinions, and even with everyones differentiating views, I hope other students and you have the same looks of things in this school. Thank you for your time on reading this exceptionally long review, and thank you Mrs. Bowers and Mrs. Hollandsworth for teaching me all the vocabulary words used to make this review.

Since Im out of this prison, I will go in on all these teachers, the facility, the school, the standard of education and the food of course. First off, the food there taste like Styrofoam with watery sauce or whatever that is. The teachers there think map scores determine how smart the students are. As now in high school, nobody could give a damn about how u got a 290 on your math map test. MAP scores do not determine grades, or how smart a kid is. Some students with higher map scores do worse in high school than kids that got lower map scores. Also, in the map test, the question level is inconsistent, so it does not prove how advanced a student is in that subject. This school is so broke that it does not have a cafeteria. When my friends ask me where I eat lunch, I say I eat the in the classroom, then all are shocked and think we are poor, which is true to an extent. Whenever it gets noisy in Mrs. odeh math class, u can hear about her bragging about her PHD is every possible way. She told me there was no way that I am the level of other students, and how they were more prepared then me for high school. She told me I would never be able to skip 2 grades of math at pcep. But haha, look at me now exactly opposite of everything she told me. Not to discriminate against muslims, but some students have the right to hold a prayer in a classroom for 5 minutes during classtime, which is basically skipping class. To be honest, Im not sure thats even legal considering this is during school hours, and to make matters even worse, it during classtime. Mr. Wyly in science class would never even stand up, and he would make other students do whatever he was required to do, like wiping the board, writing the correct answers on the board, and even reading out the answers to the class. The whole sixth grade teacher team was really bad from when I was in 6th grde, except for mrs.bowman. The teachers could not be responsible enough to correct some students missing homework and bad grades. Then when parents complained, they blamed the students and said that they are in middle school now, and should be more responsible. In fourth grade, Mrs. Higgins was act like a robot in class, and give warnings for basic things like dropping ur pencil on accident, coughing, sneezing, tying ur shoelaces, and getting up to go get a tissue. In third grade, Ms.Reed would be really rude to my parents at conferences, and would say everything bad about me(like talking in class), and nothing good about me(actually focusing in class, high grades). One time, one student got salty at me and my team at 15 minute recess soccer and lied to the teacher that I kicked him and made him cry. But when he told ms reed that, she did not even want to hear my side of the story, and sent me immediately to the office and I had a talk with the dean. BTW, I was literally only 9 years old at this point. In first grade, some student accused me of stealing their pencil sharpener just because we had the same color one, and he lost his. Mrs. Titus told my parents and my parents found her explanation very unsatisfying and they got into an argument. Jesus Christ I was only 6 years old. Also in second grade another student hit me in the face, and I fought back and gave them a bloody nose and left them crying(I did go a little bit far, but I was not raised like a punk). The staff didnt give the other student a punishment, but had a talk with my parents and gave me a detention. At the end of the day, do not send your students here, and public school is probably a better option even.

Over the years, countless amount of teachers have left and came, and I find that really kind of strange. The school has no cafeteria probably because lack of public funding. Most of the teachers were not the original teachers back when this school started. I cant even name all of my teachers I had since I came in kindergarten because they left so long ago. The school has specific casual dress day rules which makes boys not being able to wear sweatpants, and girls not being able to wear leggings or skinny jeans.(which basically hides the fact of dressing casually) Honestly this year a new rule was enforced on shorts being no more than 2 inches above the knee, which I thought, what if it was 3 inches, what are they going to do? Get a ruler and start measuring? I highly doubt it. It takes like 20 min to get out of the parking lot if u arrive at 3:15, which is unbelievable. (Now I understand why parents start coming at 2:30)

Wish I could give them lower than 1 star!!! Canton Charter was a great school. Sadly, when Hamzah didnt make the basketball team. He gave up and the school didnt encourage him. HE tried for 4 straight years. NEVER made it. Hamzah really felt sad. The school hurt his feelings. His friend Arriyan made the basketball team. Sadly, he air balled a layup and also gave up. Hamzah and Arriyan both felt sad because a student named Dubem was 2 feet taller than both of the short kids. The school really discouraged them from having a good 8th grade year. There school mascot was the Blub Blub goldfish. Lets talk about there sports. Garbage. Also there soccer team is trash. There basketball team has one white kid. REALLY!!!!!! Next topic. The school is filled with bandwagon fans. Do you really want to send your kid to a bandwagon school. NO you do not. Send your kid to SCS. We have no bandwagon friends. Thank you!!!! #TRUTH
