As soon as you walk in the door of this preschool you AND your child are greeted with genuine warmth by the staff. The facility is cheerful and engaging, making me jealous of my daughters as they run through the rooms, interacting with the toys and models that are all aligned with the philosophy created by Maria Montessori. The administration has done a really good job informing parents on the meaning of a Montessori education by explaining (both through posted literature and verbally) how the emphasis on hands-on activities and the tools used in the process make this type of schooling different. Parents are also educated on how to continue to practice it with our children at home. The director goes out of her way to create community between the students in and outside of school, when families are encouraged to come together for fun and educational events. This school is a special place, the love the staff have for what they do is palpable, you can feel it in the way that both the children and their parents walk around with a sense of ease and happiness.

My two children attended Montessori of Malibu Canyon and I and they couldnt have been happier. The owner is involved in day to day business (on site every day) and the staff is top notch. I interviewed several Pre-schools in the West Valley/Calabasas/Malibu area including both non Montessori and Montessori and none even remotely came close to the quality of the Montessori of Malibu Canyon. The owner holds a PHd in Child Education and taught school herself for many years. The owner is not just some business owner with little or no education (which you will find running many preschools) or experience out to make a buck, she genuinely cares about her role and responsibility of caring and educating your child and being responsive to parents.The Park like setting of the campus....the immaculate/clean classrooms.....the organic snacks and teacher quality are top notch. Its the little things you grow to appreciate like your child always allowed to drink water whenever they want, the always making sure the kids are washing hands etc.....They have a separate library and computer lab as well that is dedicated to little ones that includes thoughtful touches like small keyboards etc... just right for little hands.I read in a recent review that another parent did not care for the teacher turnover at this school (which is minimal in my opinion and also a necessary part of the education system if warranted). It is a simple fact that some potential employees can pass an interview and turn out to not be the employee they professed to be once they are performing their job. I applaud the school for handling personnel changes that they see to be in the interest of the children, and always looking for the best and brightest teachers.I absolutely recommend you interview this school if you are looking for a preschool for your little one! You/They will love it.......
