I am a 8th grade scholar here at KIPP WAYS and Ive been attending this school since I was in 5th. I like the school and the teachers are friendly and this year, even though you cant do much because of covid they are really taking the initiative to give scholars (especially 8th graders) the best experience possible after quarantine.

Great little school in the city. Im deciding to add more to my review, after reading some other reviews. I believe my experience needs to be shared. My kids attend KIPP Ways Primary. I am greeted every morning by an abundance of staff as I drop my children off in the morning. Maybe by month 2 after the school year began, the principal (whom receives the kids every single day regardless of the weather) welcomes them by first names, fist bumps, and hugs. The same goes for the other staff dedicated to morning pick up. I have cell phone numbers for both teachers of my children (class ratio maybe be 27, but each class has 2 teachers) I am able to call, text, and/or email when I have questions or concerns. I for the most part receive prompt responses. My kids genuinely love the teachers and staff. I feel like the teachers and staff reciprocate the same. This easy community feel of the school makes it easier for me to push them academically, because the schools main focus is on academics. I am able to volunteer in the classroom during school hours (most times advance notice is required). They have meaningful programs and celebrate the heritage of West Atlanta. The school isnt perfect. Sometimes I get last minute notifications or programs/field trips might start later than expected. But overall my experience has been wonderful and highly recommend this school for any young scholar.

My daughter currently attends Kipp Ways Primary and this school is HORRIBLE. Granted her teacher Ms. Howard and Ms. Mann are pleasant but I guarantee you if you call their front office NO ONE WILL EVER ANSWER the phone. I sat outside the school for 20-30 minutes waiting to be let inside the building to check my daughter out for them to come outside after 3 pm to tell me it’s too late for check out. I had to literally call the police on the front office staff and show that I had been waiting outside and no one was in the front office. The principals were not available (which they never are). They give out t-shirts at the beginning of the year and they are 5 sizes too big for the students & per their school rules “scholars aren’t allowed to wear uniforms that are too small nor too big of the child’s current body size”. This school is a joke. Find another KIPP or another school period. This one isn’t it! It’s been a headache from day one. The school hours were 7:15-4:15 and now they’ve changed in the middle of the school year. Do yourself a favor and RUN! I’m withdrawing my daughter this week! The school is laughable, administrators are a joke and this is crazy! Oh and let’s not forget you CANNOT do pop up visit on your child, I haven’t seen my daughters classroom since orientation. They don’t allow parents in the school PERIOD! I need access to my child (not trying to talk to the teachers and interrupt the classroom flow) but laying eyes on my child when I need to. Just don’t send your child here. I highly advise going elsewhere.

My grandkids are attending Kipp Ways Temple st. There are teachers there that are not professional at all. I’m a veteran educator and do understand that students are Challenging. At Kipp the teachers are getting on on child’s level and not Maintaining their adult position. They are not supportive of the children’s medical needs. The system need to train the teachers all medical disabilities and they must realize that the medical disability will have a great effect on Their behavior. My grandson’s teacher told him that he was a behavior problem.Statements like this should never be made in front of classmates. Children are to be respected as well. If the teachers show respect as an adult instead of acting as a oversized kid then the students will give more respect. Children know who cares and who doesn’t.

When you attend this school, you will feel loved when you first walk into the building. The curriculum is rigorous, which makes it better because the teachers will indeed challenge you to complete the problems. You will not walk outside of the classroom without knowing the information, and if you do, please believe that the teachers will come and look for you! But overall, this school is great and it is recommended to everyone by me.

Please dont waste your time. Some tearcher dont know how to deal with students. All the teachers are young with little to no physical experience. They have a high turn over rate with teachers. One year and your childs teacher will be the principle. They have three principles here. The main principle has no leadership drive or doesnt take initiative. Mr. Snideris there just for a check and hes young too. These teachers are kids and they are looking for money. So they want the kipp name on their resume. I have three kids there so Ive watched this happen for three years hoping things would get better. Mr. Knights-Justice is the assistant principle for primary. He doesnt make his own decisions. Well with this said Im moving my kids. Dont waste your time.

I have been a Kipp parent for about 8 years now,,and I have to say this year has been the worst ever! The teachers ONLY call, text or email when its something NEGATIVE with your scholar, nothing ever positive comes from the teachers calling you at all,I hate to even answer the phone at times because I know its not positive. Kipp also said that they would indeed give positive phone calls, but I havent received a call in regards to that yet and its been YEARS! The uniform policy is ridiculous, far as the shoes are involved,I STRONGLY disgree that scholars should have to wear loafers, my son went through 2 pairs of loafers, and I simply CANNOT afford to buy him those type of shoes every 2 weeks. Kipp worry about the wrong thing at times....my son broke his arm at the school, yet this school failed to call me and leave a voicemail and they didnt even have ice for my sons arm,in which he had to try and find ice himself!!! The different principles for every grade level is crazy! One minute they are teachers and next they are principals,Kipp was a very good school, but they are lacking on their part as well, its not just the students that need to be held accountable, its the staff as well. I know when I come, its not welcoming as it used to be,I know they have a lot of new people in the office and teachers, but this is not a good feel....

Strong academic curriculum but 1:27 teacher to student ratio. 😰😨 It takes special teachers, staff, and administrators to work long hours and grade the huge work load of students while giving the the love and nuturing that a student needs. I have met some great staff members but the principal is an arrogant individual. She is far from passionate about working with kids and lacks nuturing and patience. If you are a parent please make sure you pop-up. See just how available and cooperative your admin staff are. A parent voice is important! Our kids should not be treated like numbers or inmates. If we dont have compassion for our youth, who will?

I’m ready to change my son’s school after this year. Kipp West Atlanta Young Scholars Academy is not a SAFE learning environment for children at all.my son was stabbed on the 10th and I was told that the student who stabbed him would be suspended for 5 days yet he’s already back at school yesterday punching my child...and nobody even called me or his dad.Kipp really doesn’t live up to the reputation.
