Been going to Nova for about a year now. In general the atmosphere is great. The only issue I have is with the facilities aspect. The tennis courts are very outdated. I wish the Director of Athletics would take action to have the courts renovated.

A true community college offering degrees for 4-year transfer, associate degrees, certificate programs, career and personal development courses. Convenient, cost-effective and high quality professors make this a solid choice for many varied audiences.

For people who hate crowded places this college is an ideal place to study. The campus is quiet, beautiful, and clean. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Since the classes are small you can interact with the professors easily and get help almost any time.

I’m rating one star because the communication with the people who physically work on the campus and the people who work in the call center is completely nonexistent! Giving someone misinformation and having them take the time to go to the campus is completely inconsiderate. For someone like me who is s single working mom it is not ok. Especially when it’s right before winter break. I need specific simple questions answered and the woman in the office did not help whatsoever. And even felt it was necessary to tell me she was training. Why is that any of my business? She’s still an employee therefore get somebody who can at least attempt to help me. Not hand me cards and send me on my way. I even called to speak with a supervisor because to not help someone right They also need new people who are trained correctly working in the office. Customer service is just horrible these days. So sick of places that aren’t helpful.

It is a point to start your educational goals and achieve your life success. NOVA offers high level education standards through professional professors, great academic advice to help you choose a right career and with cheaper tuition cost. NOVA associates with different universities around VA for its transferable option and four years degree program. Additionally, there is diversity of different students from all around the world who shares traditional and cultural experience in the class for social interaction which is a great fun.

Enjoying everything about my classes so far! Only issue I keep having is with getting my booklist in advance. I have even had my books changed on me in the last 2 weeks before class starts. That was a problem since I ordered off a discount site. However, overall I am satisfied with everything else and I have been to a few Universities (I have my BA).

Trying to correct an error to get instate intuition has been so frustrating its rediculous. No one can think outside 1 thing. VA driver license which doesnt prove residency per their website. In fact nothing really does. Apparently what doesnt count is moving here almost 2 years ago for a job. Buying a house nor paying VA taxes. Save your time if you make a mistake on your application since there was no way to correct it and those that can change arent able to think about use logic. Anything they want is voter registration which also is not listed as proof on the website. Just think of I have in and sent the money to get a VA driver license I could drive to another state that I have a address to use and change it again nor does it stop me from just moving out of this state and join the rest of the people leaving.

My advisor is amazing, but getting three different responses from three different staff members has been confusing and upsetting. My star is for the lack of consistency in responses. the Dean also just wrote me back 2 weeks ago after I sent a reminder email reminding them of the email I sent in June. Its quite nerve racking and sad to spend so much money and not be sure you are taking the correct classes.

NOVA is a cozy and really well structured college. Library, bookstore, cafeteria, classrooms and social areas very comfortable and organized, but NOVAs strongest strength is the high level professional group that they got together. I highly recommend this college.

Very cozy campus. Laid back staff and library full of cool books. I am still looking for the basketball court though.

Doug, who is an advisor at this campus, is very judgmental, controlling, and rude. Please ask to be seen by someone else. Long story made short, a family member of mine (we will call him K) had trouble keeping up with classes last semester and failed them all. After reflecting over why he fell behind, K realized that he shouldnt have started classes during hectic life changes, and probably should have attended classes in person rather than take virtual classes. Doug tells K I hear those same excuses 90% of the time and they dont work for me. He then asked K if he received his VA benefits last semester. When K said yes, Doug said Im not going to just let you go full time so you can collect money. Wow, I am in shock. The VA benefits are there for veterans/soldiers who EARNED them, to help them through their educational journey. K does truly want to earn a degree so that he can pursue a career in something he is passionate about (not just collect VA benefits), so he endured Dougs controlling rude behavior, and accepted the consequences of letting his grades slip the previous semester. Advisors should encourage and lift students up, not degrade, belittle, and control students. I am thoroughly shocked! If Germanna Community College had the program that K is interested in, I would have advised him to walk away from this school. As someone who has already completed my undergraduate studies (first two at community college), I have never been treated like this by an advisor, or anyone at the school who is employed for the purpose of HELPING ME achieve my educational goals. Again, I am truly stunned by the type of student services that Doug is providing. If I could rate no stars, I would have!

The advisors are horrible. My first semester I got the worst professor who barely knew any Math. I went to adviser the next day about dropping or switching classes. She gave me this attitude that it was my fault picking her at the first place and told me there are no more classes available without even looking. Hope fully she would get fired soon for being so ignorant

Difficult to seek help in any area. Whether trying to meet with an adviser, setting up classes, financial aid, etc. Its difficult because youre pretty much on your own.

The 3 starts are for the school been affordable but I would give a negative one star to the Business Office for their terrible personnel. After having to wait for two hours for the F*** moron (Mgr. Bales) for taking two hours lunch this douchebag all he gave me was attitude and bad look; I came here seeking help and all I got was hell instead. The manager was making up school rules and wasnt professional or helpful; instead, he keep repeating that it was my fault and my responsibility for not providing my doctor notice on time for dropping my classes but didnt bother on finding a way to help me. I dont understand why the school put unkind, hateful people in the office and that only seem to want others to fail and that are not helpful or a little bit more polite to students.
