The Ukulele Academy is great for learning how to play the ukulele & Kent Knorr is a great & patient teacher (Kumu) & he gives private lessons & they have an assortment of ukuleles as well as tuners; learning books & etc.

Kent was going to play ukulele at our wedding, but unfortunately we had to change the date due to Hurricane Florence and Kent was not able to make the new date. Kent is extremely professional yet fun, and a very talented ukulelist and I am so sad that we will be missing the opportunity to work with him. Dont miss out on supporting his wonderful business, you will not be disappointed!

What an amazing store! More types of ukuleles than you can imagine. Not a bit high pressured, very laid back atmosphere and Kent is a really friendly, very talented guy. Hundreds of ukuleles and accessories. Definitely worth a road trip if you dont live in Wilmington, but probably a good idea to call first to verify business hours.

Kent is so nice and knowledgeable. His classes look like so much fun. They have a graduation ceremony performance too. He really makes learning fun.

Great selection and owner was very helpful. Definitely would recommend you stopping by. Going to sign up for lessons but having some trouble doing that.

Loved my experience visiting the Uke Academy! Kent was very knowledgeable and helpful. He helped tune any ukuleles I wanted to try out, and I tried out just about every single one in the store. I eventually settled on a beautiful Kala mahogany tenor and Im absolutely in love. Thanks for helping me pick out my next uke, Kent! PS Prices here are AWESOME!!!! The pawn shop down the street was trying to sell used ukuleles for more than the Ukulele Academy offers for brand new ones. Definitely the go to place for all things uke.

I stopped by to check out the store as I was passing through Wilmington. The store was stocked with a large selection of Ukes in all sizes and from all price points. Beginner players to seasoned musicians will find everything they need in this one-stop shop.***Bonus points for setting up each and every ukulele for optimum playability before placing it on the sales floor***.I met the owner, Kent, and we talked for a while. He was very friendly and answered all my questions while making recommendations for what I was looking for. He encouraged me (and others that came in) to roam around the store and pick ukuleles off the wall to try out - yes even the pricey Hawaiian K brand ukuleles were made available for my inexperienced hands. Needless to say, customer service here gets an A in my book!I ended up leaving with a complete package: Pono Model ACD Solid Acacia Wood Concert Size Ukulele, a case, a stand, digital tuner, strap, and books.I will definitely be back whenever I am in the area and I would recommend this store to anyone needing to buy an ukulele or accessories.
