WWA is a great charter school, which set the foundation for both of our kids and I can only speak to K-6, because my kids went elsewhere for middle school, but I can tell you, for my youngest kid, it was not easy to leave for 7th/8th -- she made lasting friendships and the education she received for K-6 really helped her move forward to one of the toughest schools in the State. The teachers are communicative, warm and kind and we loved both principals we had in our 9 years there! You feel part of a community, and the program is great. PROS - all of it, curriculum, methodology, and teaching and support you get if you need it. CONS- school lunch is Michaels which is tasty, BUT you have to order in advance and cancel in advance, and for the past 2 years, cannot take advantage of the free lunches, unless you qualify for free/reduced lunch. PRO- it is a charter so can run it how the Board sees fit, which can be freeing from the county schools, but CON- holidays are different, which is a PRO if all your kids are here, but if you are split up, it is tough. So, it all depends on how it will work for your family. I honestly cannot imagine a better education for my kids, and so close to home. It is a charter, so there is no bus but their after school Wildcat care was amazing and ON SITE! No shuttling kids anywhere. The start time was a nice bonus, for dual working parents, because pre-COVID, people went to offices and such and it ends at 3pm, which is also nice. The principal and staff are caring and listen to parents. They do try to implement right changes if you bring it up and care about everyone. All in all, great experience for both girls- My one girl even said she was way ahead in Math and Language Arts when starting at a regular JeffCo school - and she was allegedly learning 2 grades ahead, so we are thankful for the education they both received. It is a small elementary and middle school so there is plenty of time for individual attention on your kid!

I have been at WWA since 5th grade. It is a great school! The teachers are caring and helpful. The curriculum is challenging, in a good way. During covid-19, they have been great at keeping everyone safe. Great school!!

Great school. They have amazing staff and curriculum. They are a public charter school, which puts them in the Jeff co school district and open for choice enrollment. It has a great small town feel for a school in Denver metro.

Ive been going to Woodrow Wilson Academy for the past 9 years and personally I think it is the best charter school in the U.S.! All the staff and teachers treat you like their friends and I love the curriculum. WWA in general is a great school.

We absolutely love WWA. We switched schools 2 years ago and we couldnt be happier!I have 2 children one is on the more advanced side and the other struggles a bit and needs more assistance with daily work. The school is amazing in that they are able and willing to cater to both of my childrens learning needs. Both kids have thrived here.Everyone at the school from parents to principal are helpful and proud to be apart of the WWA family. From the moment I stepped my foot in the door I knew it was where we needed to be. I am always greeted with a smile and always feel important and listened to by staff. It is truly an amazing school and we are proud to be wildcats!! Together we are stronger!!

**this is all based on middleschool experiences only** Its a good school for education, however the experiences you have are excruciatingly corrupt, misogynistic, racist and just messed up. I graduated from here recently, and I mean I love the teachers and all, but there were too many events overlooked by Admin that were truly horrible. Once again, the quality of education is above average, but it is a stressful environment not suitable for certain types of students. There was stress, and social life here was complicated. If you send your kid here in kindergarten, they will form a devoted attachment to their peers as the class size is small. If you locked 50 kids in a cell and left em in an ultra-conservative space for 10 years, they will be messed up in high school, but will form friendships that will last a lifetime. Their methods of enforcing punishment are poor, the ZAP system is B.S., you mess up and then bam, you have to stay for another half hour, and most of the time, kids arent allowed to have their phones so they cant tell their parents they will be late. I also should probably mention the dang dress code. I get it, have a dress code so kids dont have disputes over wearing a crop top. But seriously, make kids wear uniforms or have a normal dress code like normal school. Pick one. The dress code was ridiculous, and I mean RIDICULOUS. You need three finger sleeves, cant show bra straps, basically cant wear shorts if youre a girl. Aditionally, there was a point in time where the middleschool was divided by gender to discuss dress code. The girls were lectured about holding our skirts while going up and down the stairs, and instead of talking to the guys about, you know, not looking up skirts, they got to play on their phones for half an hour. We were told to not wear shorts and they werent told to not look. They were told to s h o w e r. It was bad, and there were a lot of other things that happened that really made a lot of people mad, but if I wrote all that I would be at my computer for hours. Best of luck kind soldier

We are switching away from this school, as they focus too much on testing and testing performance. There are many other shortcomings. Its not an awful school, just not great.

Ive worked at a bunch of different Colorado schools and Woodrow Wilson Academy is a really amazing place! This public Pre-K to 8th grade school provides a wonderful, family-oriented community and a nurturing environment for all students. They do give a lot of homework but expectations are high. WWA provides a variety of elective classes for MS students and they also have a MS sports program. WWA also provides a before/after school care program for those parents who need it. Like any school, stop in, check it out, and see if its a right fit for you!

I have always insisted that WWA is the best school in Jeffco. I had two daughters attend from kindergarten through eighth grade and my youngest is in middle school. The teachers love teaching and the students thrive. Thank you WWA for helping my children learn and grow!

Two years ago after visiting 4 different Jeffco schools (charter and district), speaking with several friends/neighbors, and comparing scores we chose Woodrow Wilson Academy (a free public charter school in Jeffco). We were looking for a respectful environment that challenged our child academically and creatively. The school delivers this on a daily basis and so much more. As a second grader our child is given the opportunity to explore science, technology, art, music, writing, reading, math, and P.E. The teachers are responsive to requests for information, they give autonomy to the children, they hold children accountable (with Love and Logic foundations), and they reward achievement. The Core Knowledge curriculum is working well for our child, we love Saxon math, and the Shurley Grammar is awesome.Besides academics there so many reasons to choose WWA, extra-curricular activities, monthly family/community events, awards recognition ceremonies, and so much more. Everyone at this school works hard every day and it shows!

We absolutely love this school, and just let me tell you why. We started out at, what at the time was considered a great district run public school. It only took a few months for me to get the feeling from the teachers that they didnt care about the students. They shoved my child to the side with busy work because they didnt know what to do with her. She is a gifted kid that needs a great deal of stimulation and challenge in her daily schoolwork. The previous schools idea of challenge (a GT Center) was to tell her to go sit and write about something. They also allowed a bully situation to continue for the entire last year we were there. We spent 2 years there and then moved to WWA. By that time, my daughter HATED to write and hated school. She didnt want to go. At all. When we started at WWA, all this changed. We had a wonderful teacher that gave her boundaries, challenges and support. It took that teacher 4 months to get my daughter to love school again. This was in second grade. Since then, she has THRIVED and loves going to school again. I credit this to the wonderful teachers there and the support they get from their Administration and Board of Directors. They use Core Knowledge for their curriculum, so you, as the parent, will know exactly what they are learning. Saxon math is their math program, and they have 5 specials for the elementary kids: Spanish, Art, PE, Technology and music. They do not teach to the test and use Love and Logic for consequences. I have loved volunteering in the classroom, and school, since we moved there. The teachers are wonderful and the parents, for the most part, are invested in keeping the school great through volunteering and support. My kiddos are on the gifted side of the spectrum, and while the school is not a Gifted and Talented school, they get more challenge and support here than at the GT schools in our neighborhood. I know. I also have friends that have kiddos on the IEP side of the spectrum and they, too, get the support they need to learn. At least that is what I was told by my friends. As someone else said, the turn over rate for teachers is exceedingly low. Over the last few years, the only ones that have left did so due to life changes (moving out of state, staying at home with babies, getting married, etc.) and not because they were fired or they hated their jobs. Can you say that about other schools? Not really, at least not in my experience. You are always going to have kids that dont fit a certain style of education. If your child learns well in a Core Knowledge type of environment, then this is the school for you. If not, then theres alternative methods of education like Montessori and Waldorf as well as the District run public schools. Choose the one that best fits your childs learning style and you wont have problems. As for us, we love it here. My kiddos are challenged, have friends and arent bullied. They are learning and happy, so I am happy. It also helps that I love our teachers too.
