I had a great experience going through this fire academy. They did a great job preparing my classmates and I for a career in the fire service, both in terms of having the proper knowledge but more importantly in being the right type of person to succeed. I really felt my sense of order, discipline, accountability, hard work, attention to detail, and pride of career grow during the camp as well as in the internship that followed. I highly recommend this academy.

WVFA was one of the best experiences I’ve had! The instructors that teach there know how to pinpoint your weaknesses and build from them. They train hard and prepare you for the worst. I graduated in July 2019 and since then Captain Ryan Christensen has taken his own personal time outside of class to meet with me and coach me in to getting hired onto a full time fire department. That’s more than I could have ever asked for! He’s been extremely important in my process to getting hired. These guys are professional and train hard! They don’t just care about teaching. They truly do want everyone to get a job and they’re there to help. I’d recommend this course to anyone considering this career.

I would definitely recommend West Valley Fire Academy for someone looking to get a full-time job in the Fire-EMS World. They will prepare you for state testing and give you a taste of what a recruit camp is like. You will get out of it what you put in. They will not hold your hand through every step and expect you to commit and learn. If they see you putting forth the effort they will go out of their way to help you get somewhere. The instructors are all extremely helpful and knowledgeable. They will show you the skills you will need to start a career in the Fire Service.

This Fire Academy is so awful!! It is probably the worst one in the state of Utah! I would not recommend going here! The people that run the academy are really disorganized and dont know how to teach. They are really rude!

Awesome academy. All the instructors are very knowledgeable and have a lot of experience in the fire service. I went through the spring of 2018 class and was able to get all my fire certs and hazmat certs. I would recommend anyone of my friends or people looking to go into the fire service to get their certifications from West Valley Fire Academy.

This Academy will help you not only get all of the certifications that you need to become a firefighter, but it will also help you to understand the attitude and mentality you need to have to succeed as a firefighter. The instructors are invested in your success and they help you set goals to achieve what needs to be done to get a full time fire job. You will not be sorry you went through this academy.

The instructors really seem to care about their students and work hard to make sure they learn the subject matter and become proficient at their skills. They pride themselves on turning out great prospective firefighters!

The instructors are passionate about seeing their students succeed, and will go above and beyond to prepare you for the hiring process. The certs you earn here are only half as valuable as the connections you make; put the time and effort into this academy and they will put the time and effort into seeing you succeed in the fire service. Several in our class landed jobs with various departments immediately following graduation, thanks largely to the effort and expertise of the WVFA instructors. Look no further for an entry into the fire service; attending WVFA is how to open all the doors.

Academy to get FF I and II, HAZMAT Ops and Awareness certifications in the SLC metro area. Best value for your dollar. Taught by current Firefighters, Engineers, and Captains from departments in the area. They are invested in your future if you show them your desire to achieve your goals through diligence and perseverance. More centrally located than UVUs program.
