My son started at Discovery Point 3 months ago and I absolutely love it!! The staff are ALWAYS welcoming and inviting from drop off to pick up! They have a awesome curriculum my son will be 2 next month and can count to TEN knows some of his colors as well! The price is average going for the Raleigh area! The owners are VERY personable involved!! I truly feel like my son loves it here I’m so glad I was able to find a spot for him here as I looked everywhere and everywhere had waiting list.! I will miss the director who is leaving she was awesome as well! But I trust that I and my son will continue to have good experiences here!

We have enjoyed sending our daughter to Discovery Point Heritage. She comes home from school happy as can be and wanting to talk about what she did. Each morning she looks forward to going into school even on the weekends. Recently we were sent a video of her jumping up to do her shapes and were overly impressed with her progress. We were eager to get her back into school at the end of 2020 as she was at home from March-September. She has settled in nicely at Discovery Point Heritage and we couldn’t be happier. She has not had the most favorable experiences from Day Care Centers to Home Day care settings, but again is eager to get up each day and learn from Miss. Amanda and Miss. Bonita. We can see her progression at home with wanting to write her name, recite her numbers up to 10, sing months of the year at dinner, and much more. It brings joy to us as parents to see your child happy and doing well.

Upon our move to Wake Forest, NC we were quickly looking for new childcare. Thankfully, Discovery Point Heritage had a spot. My 1 year old quickly felt welcomed and comfortable with all of his teachers and staff. He always goes in and comes home with a smile. Their service is top notch and they are always very responsive whenever I ask a question. I have not worried about sending my child during the pandemic because I know the center is clean and sanitized. Samantha, the director, is also wonderful and willing to help any way that she can!

BOTH REVIEWS ARE NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH! There was honestly no need for me to type my own because these two covered it ALL!!!!!!!!!!!(Please see below)Review 1: “Be careful trusting the reviews that you read. If you notice all the 5 star reviews are around the same time. When they run a “5 star” promotion, the only way you can get in a drawing for $200 is if you leave a 5 star review, It’s not like they are saying “leave an honest review and you’ll be entered in the drawing” they are purposely saying you have to give a 5 star review. There is a negative culture at this school and you can feel it when you walk in, this starts from the top down. The owners do not treat teachers as the most important adults in that building. The way Mrs. Chen speaks to kids is degrading. This is a school that will have openings if you want to attend, that’s how we ended up here. All the other near by schools have long wait lists to get in. Again just be careful trusting the reviews.”Review 2: Tremendous turnover rate with teachers in all classrooms. Consider yourself lucky if you have a child who has the same teacher for more than 4 months. Its very rare here. Even more rare if the assistant teachers actually speak to you or introduce themselves to you. I feel like I saw a different random person in my childs classroom each day. For example, one day when I went to pick up my daughter, I was greeted by yet again another random caregiver who asked only, Which ones yours? I ignored the idiotic comment and removed my child from the classroom.Problem: I will be filling a complaint with the BBB, the Division of Child Development, and Discovery Point headquarters about many blatant violations that Ive observed during my year and a half with this facility. Among these include published teacher-child ratios not being followed. Both my husband and I have walked into the toddler room to see one teacher and at least 8 babies (should be 1:6). This is unacceptable by a five-star daycare. This daycare may have been five stars for a month or so, but its definitely not anymoreProblem: The management at this facility has no policy whatsoever regarding common issues with toddlers, such as biting. This facility is owned by a husband and wife. The wife (Hong) is very nice. The husband (Jan) is not. He sees the children as little, walking dollar bills and nothing more. If you have one child at the facility, and a finicky mother with 2 children at the facility complains about your childs behavior, then youre kicked out. This happened to me yesterday. Without any warning or any formal explanation of policy, my little 1 1/2-year old girl was kicked out for...biting of all things! Shes bitten kids at this facility about 5 or 6 times total over the course of several months. The first few times seemed to be a phase a few months ago. We thought we were over that, but this week she had 2 biting incidences. After the first incidence, nothing whatsoever was mentioned to me, except a random teacher in her room asking me to sign a boo boo report and casually mentions that she bit again. No word whatsoever from management. The second incidence happened yesterday. I walked in to pick her up, and was accosted by the husband owner. In a very crass way, I was told that my daughter shouldnt come back. I am furious at the unprofessional way this was handled. This facility literally has no policy for dealing with very common behavioral problems such as biting. The owner acts like hes never heard of kids biting each other, only blatantly proving his incompetency and inability to run a decent daycare. He even grinned and shook his head in a very sarcastic manner when I explained that biting is a very common problem. He has terrible communication skills. I do not condone kids biting each other, but I do recognize it is a common problem for many young children around 2 years old. THIS IS NOT THE FACILITY FOR YOUR CHILD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our son has been going to Discovery Point Heritage for just over 4 months, but I’ve already seen such a difference in him compared to the previous daycare we took him to. He’s a much happier kid and really loves his teachers and the friends that he’s made there. They send us weekly lesson plans with what he’ll be learning in the classroom and they have a color scale letting them know how well they did each day. We find this very helpful for our 3 year old as he navigates this tough stage of controlling his emotions! Very appreciative to everyone there that looks after our son and highly recommend them!

The daycare is owned by a husband and wife and they are 100% involved in the daycare. Our boys have grown so much since they have been there. My 4 year old has transitioned through each classroom and is known very well by the staff. My 8 year old has been participating in their before and after school program and their track out camp for 3 years. He loves the structure and autonomy they give him. The center is always cheery, bright, and clean. They have an app that keeps you updated on your child’s day and they send you pictures of your child each day. This review is coming from a parent whose kids attended for about 4 years. I promise you that you wont find better care for your kids than here. Every day when you drop your kids off, you know that they are safe, welcomed, and part of a community. The staff know every child by name and greet them like they are super-stars every morning! Class rooms are vibrant with creative lessons, passionate teachers, and exceptional learning experiments. Each teacher seems to know just how to relate to the kids in a way that helps them really understand lessons well, resulting in children who are not only above their grade-level, but thrilled to learn.(Pre-COVID)Staff engage kids and their families in fun festival activities from trunk-or-treating, to watching our favorite teachers get slimed. There are school book fairs, language and cultural experiences, and my child comes home regularly complimenting the food that is served there (and we all know how picky kids can be). I am regularly given feedback on my kids progress from their teachers that is encouraging and promoting self-esteem. I feel very connected to the staff here, as they are receptive to communication from parents, too. Not only do they welcome this dialogue, but they celebrate parents whether its Doughnuts for Dad on Fathers Day or Muffins for Mom on Mothers Day.During COVID, health and sanitation is top-of-mind for most parents, and Discovery Point, again, excels. Only children and staff are allowed in, following a temperature check and hand-sanitizer. Despite the significant changes that the little ones have to adapt to, teachers make it fun and educational! I feel safe knowing that these extra measures are being done to minimize any risks.I am so happy my wife and I chose this daycare and pre-school program for our kids. Furthermore, we will continue to utilize their before and after-school program which is not only convenient and affordable, but is also able to provide bus transportation from their school so I am able to pick them up from the same place. Thank you Discovery Point for making childcare easier, stress-free, and enriching for our kids future.

Very disappointed with Discovery Point heritage I had very high standards for the school and they have absolutely proved me wrong yesterday my daughter was sent home whats the what they say were two bugs under her shirt. I got the call at 4:30 p.m. my daughter is 1 years old and many photos that I seen in the portal or of her playing in the dirt flowers by herself, unattended. many times my daughter has been bitten by students and also questionable markings, doors shut on her tiny fingers. countless incidents. This school enjoys victim blaming, especially the owners mr and mrs chen. They are very careless and disrespectful to match. They requested I pull my children from school because I asked for this incident to be documented on paper and mrs. Chen said the situation wasnt serious enough and because I asked why I was called so late rather then earlier if the bug didnt come from her facility? When I picked my daughter up, she had the very same horrendous shirt on when she Id sent to school with countless outfits a day. My daughter could have come home with fleas bed bugs God knows what and mrs. Chen has nothing to say other than punishing children for what should have NVR happened on their watch! Never again in my life will we attend a discovery point, this facility only cares about money. We have attended for years, but they absolutely are un trust worthy and will turn their backs on you in the blink of an eye if they get confronted with issues.

BEWARE - especially if your child has an allergy! Before I go into the allergies, be prepared forMAJOR teacher turnover at this place. Not because of the teachers, but because of the way they are treated by the owners. The owners do not treat the staff well and moral is very low because of that causing high turnover. Also, the 5 star reviews are all from a promotion they run where you can get a discount on tuition. My daughter has been allergic to dairy since she was born, so it’s on all her paperwork, her infant teacher and crawler teacher were great about it and very aware. (One time when she was in the crawler room she was given yogurt by a new teacher but the teacher apologized and we moved on).In the time she was in the 12-18 month room she went through 5 different teachers, After one teacher was fired, I went to the people at the front desk and reviewed my daughters dairy allergy and made sure all the new teachers/subs would be aware of her allergy, everyone assured me they knew.My Daughter had been getting really sick (diarrhea, blood in her stool etc.) I asked if they would review the video and they did and found out all the teachers had been giving her dairy all day, mozzarella sticks, pizza everything. They talked to the teacher in the room and they told them a teacher who had recently been fired said she was allowed to have dairy again. I don’t know what’s true there but since they blamed it all on that teacher and she had recently been fired we said okay fine, no problem, just please make sure she is not given dairy again.A few days pass and my daughter gets really sick again, they review the tape and she was given dairy by a sub that was in the room.So I ask the new teacher what the process is for making sure subs know about her allergy; she tells me all kids who have an allergy are listed on the fridge. I go over to the fridge and my daughters name isn’t there, I ask to add her name myself, they insist they’ll do it right away. The very next day my daughter is given dairy again. At this point I am livid and asking Ms. Chen what the process/plan is for when kids have an allergy because this has been an ongoing issue. She assured me everything is being handled and it was a big mix up and it’s all taken care of now.The following Tuesday my husband drops our daughter off at school and is unpacking her stuff when he hears a teachers in the next room up ask my daughter if she’s ready for some milk and starts to hand her a cup of milk, my husband stopped her. My daughter went up to this room every day for a few hours so we’re pretty sure this has happened before because the teacher didn’t know about her allergy and was very surprised to hear she was allergic. Before I go any further with this I LOVE all of the teachers, this is an owner problem.Anyway, after the teacher gives my daughter milk, my husband went to Ms. Chen and said this is getting ridiculous - Ms. Chen apologizes and says come with me and goes to the cafeteria staff and says “RILEY has an allergy, Riley can not have any dairy!” My daughters name is NOT Riley! That same day Ms. Chen printed out 4 pictures of my daughter and wrote dairy allergy under them and hung them up around the facility. 2 in each of the rooms.*which is fine but what about all the other poor kids with allergies- if it’s happening to her, surely it’s happening to others. Thank God my child doesn’t go into anaphylactic shock, she would be dead multipletimes at this point but the fact is other kids do.Flash forward a week and I find out Ms. Chen has been forcing my daughter to be isolated for all meals/snack times. So during all meals she is at a table by herself, in the same room as all the other kids who are all sitting at a table together. So here she thinks she’s in trouble because she has to eat alone. She can see all of her friends eating together but isn’t allowed to sit with them. (It’s not like she was stealing dairy off kids plates, or like it’s an airborne allergy). They never asked us about it; they just did itStay away!

If I could give them a -1 I would. My Son first started going to this Center when he was 5months, he’s 2 now. Straight to this review point. When the Chen’s thought it was okay to keep a Teacher there after she put her hands on my 2year old that’s when I realized they don’t care about Children’s well being. When they thought calling me and having the Teacher apologize over the phone would make the situation okay that’s when I knew this wasn’t the place for my Son anymore. The Chens felt sense my Child didn’t have any bruises from the Teacher that they didn’t need to terminate her. Instead they moved this Teacher to Infants so they could “watch her at all times and make sure she’s no where near my Son” in the words of Mrs. Chen. Why would any Center want to keep a Teacher they have to watch at all times like there isn’t plenty of other things they have to watch? Makes no sense! After Mr. Chen telling me he’d handle the situation, he didn’t! None of them did! Teachers that used to work here and some that still do will tell you they don’t treat their employees like they should and they should’ve been shut that place down. Now they have a handful of great Teachers, it’s the bad batch and those Owners that are the problem. Being the person that I am I never really tried to listen to other people’s opinions about this Daycare, I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt. This is how that turned out. That’s why I wouldn’t recommend anyone to bring their Child to this Center unless you’re fine with unprofessional people and liars!

We moved our children from another facility and I will be honest, after reading some reviews, I was nervous if I ever had a concern, it would be unanswered. I can whole heartedly say, that has not been the case. We have had 3 times we have talked to the owners and director about different things that have needed discussing (as you should have conversations time to time with your child care center) and every time, immediately, the time was taken, the concern was given, the situation was looked into and if need be, remedied. What matters to me is feeling like I leave my children in a place where people take them and our thoughts or concerns seriously. I can say, that has happened for us here. Thank you to the Chens and every teacher that hangs in this extremely challenging industry.

Just a little bit of background on our family. We are originally from Europe. Our son was 18 months old when we started taking him to daycare, he is now 2 years old. We were looking for daycare for couple of months visiting and comparing different facilities, and we were very disappointed, until.... we walked into Discovery Point Heritage. When we walked into this facility we knew right away we found what we were looking for. Since we are from Europe I feel like our expectations and imagination is a little different when it comes to daycare. Here is what is important to us and we found it all plus some at Discovery Point:1. cleanliness- this place is spotless. My husband swiped his finger on some furniture and found no dust or any dirt, he even looked in the kitchen and it was extremely clean. When you are there ask them how they keep the changing table clean -incredible routine.2. nutrition- they cook from scratch, and again we did see veggies in the pot cooking, the food is very healthy too. I love the menu it teaches my child to eat healthy foods from the beginning.3. education- they send parents everyday curriculum that is just fantastic, our son is learning soooo fast we cant believe it.4. hours- they have great hours, and the list of holidays when they are closed is very short which is great because our jobs dont honor holidays like MLK we still have to clock in :(5. other things that we love (there is so many I dont even know what I should mention here): everyone is super warm and caring. All staff (even from other classrooms) remember my childs name and they are all extremely friendly towards him. It was very difficult for our son in the beginning, but I cannot even tell you how INCREADIBLE they were to work with us to get our child adjusted to the new environment. Words dont describe my gratitude for the assistance they provided to get our kid to love daycare. Now he greets the owners (who are there all the time) with hugs and high fives and enjoys every moment he is at this daycare. I would not switch this daycare for any other because it is as close to European standards as it gets and it is well above the standards around here.

I was really debating on leaving a review because I think the owners are genuinely good people trying to run a business, but I feel I should be honest. My daughter attended here for a little over two months. We have since moved her to another daycare. At first I loved it, her teacher was amazing. Although on my daughters first day a new teacher was starting as well, and she innapropriately handled a situation with the kids. The matter was handled by the owners but I was left with the sense that the owners take things personally, and have a hard time separating their emotions from their business.Sadly her teacher left, and afterwards I stopped seeing education happening. Her first teacher updated us daily when we came into pick her up, but that stopped after she left. With her departure I found my daughter was having a hard time when i left, similar to the first week starting. She wasnt very happy talking about class, except about her friends. The supporting teacher in her class was moved and new teachers brought in, but two of the regulars also ended up leaving and before we decided to move her there was yet again another new supporting teacher in the room. This was only in about a two month span. Half the time her daily reports werent even filled out when emailed, or things left blank.I did walk in on her new main teacher playing youtube for the kids when we came in late (i recognized the youtube kids theme song). They werent dancing or using it as an activity they were huddled around on the floor watching. Which I didnt think appropriate given the amount of money people are paying, definitely dont want youtube babysitting our kids. Another time I came to pickup my daughter and the end of the day, she was sitting watching tv with other children, with a cut on her leg that was bleeding. This was during a time of teacher transition, the person she was with didnt know how she got the cut, nor did anyone think to perhaps... get her a bandaid or clean it.There is also alot of drama and unhappy staff, i dont even know anyone who works there personally but unhappy employees would chat to parents about things and in the parking lot, it was an unsettling feeling. Most of which had to do with the owners not handling things well, treating staff well, or taking criticism.(Also Id like to note that yes turnover happens in childcare facilities but the amount while I was there was crazy. The place we moved to the teacher has been there for 11 years! Her other teacher has been there for years too. And if they do need new staff they always pair them with someone who has been there for a while. It leads me to believe that the complaints were true.)I realized my daughter would thrive more in another place and Im so happy I made that decision. It was amazing moving her, her first day at her new daycare she had a blast and when I came to pick her up she was full of stories about the activities they did, something she never did when at Discovery Point. The second day at the new facility when I dropped her off she asked me to leave! I was blown away, she completely loved it and was excited to go back. The difference in education was great while still getting alot of play and outside time. I think it all depends on the teachers and I think thats where DP might be going wrong is not creating a thriving environment for their teachers. We remained there for two more weeks as you have to give two weeks notice and they started doing homework during that time so perhaps they decided to improve that part, although I dont necessarily agree homework is the answer. The facility however is very clean and their food seems like good quality. It just wasnt a good fit for us, and Im super glad we moved. I do however know people who still have their kids there that love it, and have only had minor issues.

My wife and I toured this Discovery Point location. The owners use questionable sales tactics!Pros:- Organic food- Digital daily child report systemCons:- Crazy high price point!- Both owners didnt maintain focus on selling their staff and facility. During the tour, they referenced and disparaged their competitors by name and suggested that some of their competitors would be going out of business due to DP taking their employees and customers- The male owner specifically said we would be bad parents if we took our kids to certain child care centersMy recommendation: Proceed with caution and shop other 5 star facilities.
