I was in town on a work trip and dropped in for an open mat. They were very welcoming, and made me feel at home. Good quality rolls with tough folks - Id come back in a second. Very clean and high quality place!

Out of town for my wedding this week, visiting from Syracuse, NY. These guys are the real deal, I had a great time training with them. 3 (of I believe 4) black belts welcomed me, and gave me some great training. All of their guys are legit. A majority of their school seem to be competition focused, and they dont offer any NoGi but if you want a great work out and serious training definitely check them out! I look forward to coming back if I am in the area again

Nestor is an amazing instructor, he knows how to explain every movement so that its easy for each student to understand. The facility itself is perfect for rolling, plus there are a few bags if you feel so inclined. My personal highest recommendation for BJJ in the VB area. Well done sir.

My son loves Coastal Brazilian Jiu Jitsu! Hes been doing Martial Arts for a couple years and started at another program before switching to Coastal BJJ this spring. Nestor is great with the youth program and always brings a lot of energy to each class. The kids are always engaged, and there is a good ratio of instructors to students at each class. My sons confidence has improved since starting, and he looks forward to coming to each class. Keep up the good work Coastal BJJ!

When we moved out to Virginia Beach, my daughter and I checked out several places before settling on Coastal. Nestor is an excellent teacher and his classes for both kids and adults have a clear curriculum. He teaches to everyones level, from white belt to black, amateurs to championship contenders. Every class is handled with professionalism and is well organized and planned for.Everyone is so friendly and welcoming and the passion for building each others success is tangible, without decreasing the competition or learning curve. Ive never felt left behind, but Ive also never been through a class or rolling session without being challenged to the highest degree.Ive moved around a lot and been to several instructors in several states and I can honestly say, Nestor is far and away my favorite instructor and the person Ive learned the most from in a short time. I hope I dont have to move again, because anywhere else will be a disappointment.

All of the instructors are helpful regardless of your skill level. The kids class is a great place to build life skills.

I have spent the last two weeks in Virginia Beach traveling for work. From the moment I walked into Coastal BJJ I was treated as if I had been their for years. The other students went out of their way to help develop my techniques. I also felt like Professor Nestor was attentive and desired to see me improve even though he knew I was only their for a short time. I learned a lot of great techniques and have found a new home away from home. If you are looking for a permanent place to train or only in the area for a day, GO TO COASTAL BJJ! (I also observed the way he instructed his youth students and as the father of three learning BJJ I know they would be engaged by his classes and teaching style.)
