This place is incredible. The coaches, Sensa and the Shihan are really dedicated to teaching the kids/teens/adults the foundation of martial arts. They take the time to point out to students what needs corrected, but also notice when the students are doing an exceptional job. They have a Christian foundation they teach from and I love that. The beginning of the karate lesson (for kids) they have a motivational saying they all say together emphasizing that they are learning this for defence, not to hurt people. It gets them so motivated. My four children/teens are absolutely loving this. They have gone from, I guess I will try twice a week to wanting to be there every day. They practice together, even on a camping trip. πŸ˜†. (We only started a week ago!!!)I am so grateful to have found this place. If you are considering this, at least come and meet the Shihan and other people there. See a lesson. It is so worth it.

The karate program is amazing for children. It teaches them how to defend themselves and how to develop confidence and leadership. The Krav program is also amazing because it not only teaches you how to get in shape but also helps you get into better physical condition. The instructors are all super friendly and funny and are always there to give a helping hand. They are one of the best karate places I have ever been to.

I cant say enough about how wonderful this place is. I checked out other karate places before Savior Martial Arts, one of which is very well known in this area, and was very disappointed (expensive, lured us in with a free lesson that lasted only a couple minutes, while they cornered me in a small room pressuring me to sign a 5 yr contract at an unreasonably high price per month, etc). The atmosphere at Savior Martial Arts is positive and really puts Christian values in all they do. The staff cares about the students and encourages their healthy growth and development, not only in karate but in life. They really do build the whole person and not just karate instruction. The price is very reasonable and you get way more than your moneys worth. My sons confidence, self esteem and self control has improved dramatically since starting here. He loves coming here and often does not want to leave! I am constantly amazed and continue to be pleasantly surprised with how high quality Savior Martial Arts is. One of the best decisions I have ever made was bringing my child here.

My son in the first two weeks at only four years old is showing leadership in preschool, is making choices, and is making better decisions. After a few classes, he even began leading his younger sister in workout sessions, jumping jacks, and push ups, and has so much more confidence. He went from being a toddler who was a bit unsure of himself to a very strong and confident little boy. The training at Savior is top-notch, caters to the student as an individual, and the instructors are quality and amazing. They are very in tune with how to teach and make each student achieve, and know just how hard to push, but also provide great positive enforcement. It is a professional, warm and friendly atmosphere, and all of the parents are very nice and inviting - we have made friends already after just a few classes. I highly recommend Savior to people and families of all ages!!

I have been going to Savior Martial Arts since October 28th, 2016. I belt tested on December 16. In that amount of time, I feel like Ive learned so much. Just for being there in the three month* period, I was taught by the best senseis anyone could ask for. They make sure you know all the material for the belt test. If anyone asked me about sending their child there or going themselves, I would absolutely recommend that they go. They teach you the fundamentals for protecting yourself, but most importantly, they make sure you memorize the Scripture. Its a pro-God facility that will teach well. :)

Testimonial Review:In late December 2014 our DoJo (karate gym) went out of business. For my family, it was devastating and so unexpected that Santa was literally in the air delivering sparring gear to me and my two young children for Christmas. Out of genuine concern, our highly regarded and trustworthy Sensei (karate teacher) gave us several other DoJos in the Virginia Beach area that he recommended. Savior Martial Arts was on the top of the list. Please GPS this location:Savior Martial Arts5351 Lila LaneThis facility is not your typical crowded room at a strip mall, but rather a sprawling indoor arena set up for adults and children alike to study many martial art styles. Why Savior? First of all, the Executive Director has earned an 8th degree black belt (this is not a typo) and is strongly involved in the daily operations. He has many outstanding black belts as staff members that teach you down to the minute detail in correct form and function. It is obvious in short order that considerable thought and effort was put into these programs.Secondly, and not ranked by importance, is how Savior integrates Bible teachings into their karate classes. Their slogan, Building Black Belts from the inside out are not merely nice sounding words. I believe after careful thought, that this slogan is part of their mission statement. As a grown-up, I dont know what is better, getting into the best shape of my life while learning karate, or watching grade schoolers exude confidence in posture, technique and heavenly spirit. As a father, to hear your child recite Best Bible verses from memory and speak about Gods plan for their lives; showing compassion and love for others, - what a joy!At Savior, we can safely spar each other, break boards and cement blocks, even take it to the mat, - all tailored to fit your specific goals. If your not into combat, there are separate programs for that as well...So grab a coupon from groupon and see for yourself. Feel the blessings for yourself and your entire family. I personally thank you Savior and my personal Savior for directing our path to this unique training center.

If you are looking for a Martial Arts school that is truly family oriented, Savior Marial Arts is the place you need to be. When they say, We build Black Belts from the Inside out it is not just a slogan or catchy phrase. This school focuses on character building for everyone, children, teens and adults. I started training in Krav Maga soon after the school offered the classes and am thoroughly impressed with the training. They train you to handle real life, stressful situations through repeated drills in a controlled environment that gives peaceful confidence that you will be able to handle these situations should they arise. If you want a fun, family dojo to attend, that uses a positive, effective training plan, you must at least give Savior Martial Arts a try.

I have been bringing my eight-year-old son to SMA now for nine months, and it has been a tremendous experience for him. The teachers (Senseis) all know him and call him by name, and speak nothing but encouragement before, during, and after the sessions. It is clear that they care about him beyond the involvement in SMA. The environment that is fostered among the families and participants is exceptionally positive, and permits even the most introverted or even socially awkward kid to find a place where he or she feels accepted. The classes are great, but I also like the fact that one-on-one booster classes are offered for no additional charge to help with a certain area the child is struggling with, or as in our case, to catch my son up when we have been out of town for a few weeks. I also like the short-term-goals... stripes they can earn each month on their belts for demonstrating power, intensity, focus, etc... as well as memorizing selected bible verses.I cant speak positively enough about our experience here. One concern I know we had entering related to how an evangelical Christian entity would include/promote this spiritual dimension, especially as we are Roman Catholic with some obvious theological differences. I would begin by stating that the Christian nature of SMA is lived and acted--not in a minute-by-minute preachy or denominationally specific way--but through role modeling and teaching universal principles of living a Christian life. Secondly, my conversations with other parents has demonstrated that there are people of all stages of Christian Faith life here, and that is acceptable. And finally, the Christian orientation of the program ensures that no Eastern philosophy/beliefs will creep into my sons training and formation.
