My son has been attending classes here for over 5 years and he enjoys every bit of it!Shifu Zhang is very patient and very caring. His class is demanding but not over ramming. Shifu teaches his students not just martial arts, but also discipline, confident and respect.If you are looking for after school activities for your kids, this place is where you want to be. This review is something that is long overdue.I began my training with Sifu Zhang eight years ago, back when the studio was just a little hole in the wall. I remember my dad dragging me into this strange class as I was crying and holding his leg, afraid to even be in the studio. But almost immediately Sifu Zhang’s playful and passionate demeanor captivated me. Sifu Zhang has the unique ability to draw a kid out of their shell and make them feel safe. His kindness is extremely encouraging and his patience knows no bounds. The environment that he crafts at Zhang Kung Fu Institute feels less like a martial arts school and more like one big family.Something that is special to Zhang Kung Fu Institute is that Sifu Zhang is constantly handing out opportunities for his students to grow. At nearly every school performance or national competition you’ll see a huge group of students representing Zhang Kung Fu excited to get on the stage. Through performances and competitions, students begin to build their confidence both in and out of the studio.My parents initially enrolled me at Zhang Kung Fu because I was sick and they thought kung fu was a good way for me to get healthy while also building some confidence. It did so much more than that. The moment I began to treat Kung fu as a passion rather than a hobby, Sifu Zhang saw exactly that. He pushed me harder and showed me that I was capable of great things. In the process, I developed my work ethic and discipline which have seeped into every aspect of my life. Today, I’m lucky to say that I’m the one that gets to welcome many new students. Some of which cried almost as hard as me on their first day.At Zhang Kung Fu, there’s something for everybody. Does your child want to learn some cool moves? Do you want them to build some confidence? Do you want them to lead a healthy lifestyle? Whether it’s making new friends or competing at an international level, Sifu Zhang will be there to guide your child the entire time. Shifu Zhang is a great teacher for kids of all ages. He teaches not just first grade kongfu, but also displine and appreciation. Highly recommended.

A great teacher for kids at all age. The classes are very organized and Sifu Zhang has very competent and patient assistants. The kids are very receptive to Sifu as they often laugh at the jokes that he delivers during class. My son is in the introductory classes so I cannot comment how intense the advance level classes are. But the teacher makes kung fu fun for the kids and they are very tired just after a one hours class.

If youre looking for a great martial arts teacher who is excellent with kids, then Sifu Zhang at Zhang Kung Fu Institute is one of the best youll find. It only takes a few minutes of watching him work with the students during class to see that hes definitely skilled at what he does. Youll also learn that hes a highly-accomplished martial artist if you read his background on the schools website. Im always in awe when I see him demonstrate a particular movement or form for the students because you get to appreciate how masterful he is at Kung Fu.His assistants, Lai and William, are also great with their interactions with the kids.Occasionally Sifu has his young son Shaun around to help out in class. Naturally, he is Sifus best student and is amazing to watch him perform in person. Hes very mature for his age and such a nice and respectful young man whenever you talk to him. His many earned competition trophies are on display in the classroom and they are very impressive to see. You can tell all the students look up to him because of his skills and accomplishments.Our two boys have been students here for almost a year and a half now and love coming here. My wife and I have seen a significant change in both of them. Theyre more confident, disciplined and social than before and definitely more skilled as far as athletics go. They have participated in a few demonstrations/events as well as competitions. Our oldest son has been in two competition events so far and his confidence level has greatly increased because of it, particularly since he earned a first-place trophy in his second event. His younger brother is eager to compete next year and we cant wait to see how he does.Im always referring Sifu Zhang and his school to friends and family. In fact, three of his students within the past year were referred by us.Im proud of both of my boys accomplishments at the school and I have nothing but positive things to say.Dont just take my word for it, though. I highly recommend any parent to at least bring their child to a free trial class and experience it in person.
