It was OK. Lots of shade so that was nice. Not a great variety of trees or flora. Signage was weak. Backs up to a highly developed area so youre not exactly in the country. You take the same narrow road in that you take out. Can be problematic if you have a large vehicle and have opposing traffic. I would be careful with pets and young children because of the poison ivy/oak. Consider wearing pants not shorts.
Very nice out there and I didnt even make it to the actual arboretum area. Theres lots of nice open spaces on the old golf course.
The best place in town to get away from the noise.
Nice place to walk / hike, family friendly
Imo the only thing to do in Tuscaloosa other than be misanthropic and depressed
An absolute gem. This is once of the best places to run in Tuscaloosa. Plenty of well manicured trails and pavement. Some fairly aggressive hills help add a level of difficulty to your runs. There is always plenty of parking. Plus there are public restrooms and a water fountain.
Very peaceful and very beautiful
Beautiful hiking trails, some of which lead to some enchanting areas, like; A cute little treehouse lookout, a small forest amphitheatre, and one trail ends in a wide-open field with a beautiful garden area, (which, has a pretty sundial centerpiece exhibit). University of Alabama Arboretum is also free for the public to visit, All YearRound! And, that means, that you can make it an everyday, scenic nature escape... Even when youre completely broke, lol.
Cool area on the edge of town and great place for walking a dog and going running. Unfortunately, not as well maintained as it should be and lots of trash around the ponds.
Great place to let kids run around
The UA Arboretum is an excellent to run, walk, bring a dog, or just enjoy the flora. There are countless single file trails for those who like a more scenic or interesting trail run/walk, as well as more open, paved trails on what used to be a golf course. There is also access to a lake for swimming in the warmer months, however no fishing is allowed.
My family and I went in April 2018. This was our first time going. You can park on the black top parking lot or go down the gravel dirt road to get to the Aboretum. We chose to park in the parking lot as the gravel road is small. When we got there everyone that worked there was very sweet and helped us find our way. There are maps of the trails available close to the “main” pavilion. The 6 and 10 year olds favorite thing was the tree top platform. We loved every minute of being out there.
Wonderful time at the Univ. Of AlabamaROLL TIDE!
Great place to visit for a run a walk
Love it
This area has great potential. It is not as well maintained as it should be though.
Lovely day enjoying nature.
Beautiful! Not busy, great get away still close to town
Beautiful and educational
