Nice funding programs, to help those that need it starting out.For those that are local, and specially for non locals! On campus, as well off campus help. Stop by & see how they can help you! Age range acceptance rate apply though.I still want my last funding check tho, I probably will never get. Just so you know, if you dont stay on top of your file work, dont expect their system to do so for you! Once, your out dated & your progress/program is completed. You have so long to get back with them get all your availability certificates, & funding wrap up! Before your file is sent to what I call the dungeon networking.Never be seen again! Other than that, very nice people on campus, and great off campus recruiters will help you to best of abilities! You must do your part though!Sincerely, GabbyGail

Toxic workplace. Overworked, underpaid, unorganized, this whole place needs to be shut down and revamped. Management is unsupportive, unprofessional. I moved for this job and absolutely regretted it. HR is a joke. They keep people on who are in clear violation of federal guidelines. They only care about themselves and not the trainees. Avoid at all costs. High staff turn over.

I am currently attending The Tulsa Job Corps Center. The Center offers new opportunities and second chances. The dorms are clean. The staff is here to help you get the most out of this experience, any problem that you may run into, more than likely they will have a solution for you. It is not just a trade school, to me it is a stepping stone to better things, you can get your High-school Diploma or GED, if you are lacking a Drivers License you can get that as well. The Tulsa Job Corps has seven different trades here on center, all of which that can open more opportunities for your future whether you decide to graduate here and work in that career field or going off to college, advanced training, apprenticeship or the military. The Tulsa Job Corps is overall an amazing place it prepares you for the professional world.

The new CD Carol hillard is the worst CD Ive ever experienced. The old staff was amazing. The CD claimed he was there to make a change but I believe he was trying to continue his little name, and or name status he claimed to have. He seemed cooled but wasnt fair at all.. I attended jobcorps and graduated but did not finish all my things that I went for and I was not a student that needed my HS diploma.

I loved it here! They kept me head focused and no matter what o never felt stuck. I loved it I want to go back I phased out with my high school diploma; my pharmacy tech certifications; and drivers license I am a college student at TCC and I worked full time as a vet tech at one of the BEST animal hospitals in Tulsa Oklahoma. They helped me alot and its really like family there I still talk to all of the people who I met there and still keep in touch with everyone. This jobcorps helped me turn my life around and got me set on a good path; and its bot all just work. They host thanks giving dance christmas dances and big dinners for people who cant make it home to see there family they are hosting get togethers all the time on the campus and the rec trips are amazing I use to award myself when I passed a test by going on a rec trip. I love it here. And the staff genuinely do care about you and your well being; I dont regret attending this jobcorps and I hoping to attend again and soon! They are extraordinary you just have to be willing to put in the work and keep your head down. JOBCORPS WORKS!!

I was here for 9 months,(a long journey) went through a lot of bs but had a lot of great memories and fun .I left this place about a month ago,I actually miss it plus met a lot of great people here. Cant believe I finished the program thought I would have gotten kicked out a long time ago but I did it, I am officially a high school graduate! I appreciate and am very thankful for the help I got and all the chances they gave me . Shouts out to Ms. Jones and Ms. Baker, I love them so much they looked out for me a lot and motivated me. Leaving this place was so bittersweet but it was time for me to go, thanks Tulsa job Corps :)

Im currently 98.22% complete and I got here in August 14. I may not like it here very much but it is better than where I would have ended up at. You can get your High school diploma or your GED here if you need it. The counselors are great and always ready to help. take advantage of your time here because it prepares you for what youll be doing in everyday adult life.

It is November 2018, Ive been in job corps for too long (still less time than others). Im currently enrolled in the construction trade and its been an utterly deplorable experience. I came here to LEARN my trade, keyword learn and so far that has not happened, its almost as if the opposite has happened, I literally feel sick to my stomach, hopeless and overall oppressed every morning I wake up here. The class room is not condusive to learning, the rigor is terrible, there is little accountability and discipline and the teacher is overwhelmed. Unfortunately nobody here seems to care. Everyday my classmates show up to class without batting an eye to anything, they dont see what I see or they dont care. That is the culture in my trade, its low standard/moral, its tired and lazy. When I first arrived here I was ready to get in my trade and hit the ground running so I could move onto a career and begin my adult life. Now that inner motivation has completely morphed from ambition to desperation. Now all I want to do is find a job related to my trade and get the hell out of this place. As soon as I do that I am going to request to be separated from the program or resign. However I am afraid that I do not have the proper training, I am a severely anxious person ( mostly due to my past and concern for my future) which doesnt help with interviews and I have little qualifications/credentials. What am I going to do? I have no clue but, I take it day by day and keep my family and God in mind. Conclusion, i thought based on what staff members told me in the beginning that I was gonna be given structure and accountability in order to rehabilitate myself and be shown the way to adulthood but what has actually happened is far from that. Do not come here unless it is your absolute last resort, do not trust these people with your future unless you have nobody, if you can, find another way because it is truly a terrible place.P.S. I can only speak for my experience in the construction trades, this is my opinion and I cant speak for any other trade on the center.

I go there currently and its really good place to be; just listen to the rules and enjoy yourself. They give you rec trips to lasor tag and bowling and stuff, pay for your food, give you clothing, bath shampoo and conditioner, plus free training and they even pay you. The only people that complain about JC are the ones that break rules and play angel.

Spent four days trying to get information and documentation gathered for admissions after being told they could help me. I had all documentation ready for my interview except immunizations and the admissions folks cancelled my appointment saying its pointless to come to my appointment without this documentation. Which seemed reasonable until Tulsa health department told me the real protocol used as quoting them we recieve faxes from job corps all the time with the release of information and they are supposed have directed you to us and filled that out with you at your interview and it would have immediately been faxed over to you. I try all day Thursday to call and contact admissions in Tulsa and eventually ended up getting stuck talking to some woman from talking leaves that assured me I AM NOT ALLOWED TO GO TO JOB CORPS AS THEY DISCRIMINATE ON A FEDERAL LEVEL AGAINST MY LEGAL MEDICAL CANNABIS USE FOR MY DISABILITIES. Thanks for the waste of time and the discrimination. Please send my records you recieve back.

I myself went to the old Tulsa Job Corps Center from October 21, 1982- October 21 1983. The location of the Old Tulsa Job Corps Center, were The Wright Building and it annex, the Altamont at 12, 12st and at the YMCA on Denver on the 6th floor. Back when I was at the center, I was told that the original TJCC was next door to the Downtown YMCA, where now the ONEOK building is now standingBack when I was going to TJCC, it was one of the best Job Corps Center of all the other Centers. Violence was very rarely. It had a honor dorm, which was the 6th floor at the YMCA. Where you had your own private room. but not your own bathroom and shower. Everyone on the floor had to share the same bathroom and shower. To get a room at the Y. You had to be on senior phase, and male and you had to sign up for it. Females werent included, even though they were house there before the original center was torn down.

Came there from Texas (originally from Michigan) to do Security Guard training. Very good instructors. Knowledgeable. Learned about not just Security but Law Enforcement.Living there was a real mess. Lots of pills, marijuana, and other drugs floating around there. No heavy drugs luckily. But still, wtf? Its a place of learning and there is all this drama and crap. Dangerous people. Lots of fighting. Gangs. Plus they are putting laxative in the food?Place was effing insane. Recruiters and staff alike will tell you that you get what you put into it. But come on. Be real. With all that stuff going on, how can 50% of the students there expect to get through that place in one peace and focus. And then there was Positive Normative Culture...That was supposed to make the Center better. But really it just trapped all but the students-who-brown-nosed-to-the-staff on the campus. It seemed to be based more on who was liked than who was good or well behaved.Be warned, its nothing like a college campus. Its like a Juvenal or Youth Facility in which you can actually leave after hours and in which you can interact, mingle with, date, and ball women. If you go there, behave. Dont fight, dont smoke weed or do pills or anything, and dont be a trouble maker. All of your behaviour is recorded, and because Job Corps is run by part of the government (Department Of Labor), they can disclose information about you to a potential employer (damaging information).Oh, and the women there. Dont date them. Even with the normal girls that attend that place, they too tend to get a little strange in the head. Either because of the drama or whatever crap it is they are putting into the food.Vica Versa if you are a woman planning on attending that place. Dont date the men. A lot of us are very very lost and go to that place to try and find ourselves. Lost people have problems. Avoid avoid avoid. If you are from out of state, dont go there for Security. The license is pretty much worthless in most other states. I know because I talked to a Security instructor from the North Texas Job corps and asked him if Texas recognizes Oklahomas security guard license, and he said no.Overall, although it was such a waste, I had fun. Maybe too much. I felt alive there. I felt a part of something.I dont feel alive anymore. And I dont feel a part of anything. Its been 4 years and I havent had not even close to the amount of fun or action I experienced at Tulsa Job Corps. I just feel so damn lost sense leaving that place, and the feeling hasnt let up at all.I should have stayed there for as long as I could and gotten everything I could get out of it. I shouldnt have returned to Texas just because of a girl (I met from there). I should have stayed there, enrolled in college, and then just worked towards getting a certificate or something (yes you can attend college while living at Job Corps, something that neither I or anyone I attended Job Corps with really took advantage of).So, I say, if you get distracted [or derailed] easily, avoid the place. If you are fragile or suffer from mental issues that make you vulnerable to drama, avoid the place. If you absolutely must go. Stay focused, spend as much time as you can off campus, and take advantage of all the perks of the place. They feed you, clothe you, provide a bed for you with clean bedding (bedding is changed everyweek), provide free bath products, et all. Its like living at home but not having to worry about being stuck with parents.
