Sean Huff is one of the best Jiu Jitsu coaches in Arizona. Sean’s classes emphasize technical fundamentals and hard work. Sean is always willing to answer technical questions on the rare occasion he doesn’t know the answer he’s humble enough to ask another black belt. Sean leads by example, he never asks students to do something he wouldn’t do and he makes sure all beginners are safe. As a result, Sean’s students are incredibly tough and dedicated. The gym is clean and well maintained, there’s plenty of mat space. There’s also 2 mats with a great variety of classes, whether you’re a world champion or a casual practitioner Northside will have a class for you. Sean’s coaches are always knowledgeable and professional. Great gym.

This gym is amazing. Aside from a clean, safe, and professional atmosphere....the people are the selling point. Its a true family vibe, not only in spirit but literally. Many many parents and their children attend the numerous level based classes that allow nervous beginner to world class atheltes to enjoy. The owner Sean is an amazing human. His character and demeanor set this gym apart. He treats each member equally and he truly loves teaching which combine with an array of achievements and skill that translate directly into his students and staff. The staff all follow suit. All the coaches are eager to help each person on their very individual journey...and each member goes out of their way to welcome others into the family. I could not reccomend North Side BJJ more. My daughter and I will hopefully see you on the mats.

Great place to train with very knowledgeable instructors and friendly students!I like to read review before I go to a place and when one of two people who have written the only bad reviews this place have also wrote a 5 star review for another school it always makes me wonder...?Either way, Ive had nothing except a fun time while learning in a safe environment at North Side Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and the head instructor Professor Sean Huff is a great teacher, a professional at what he does and hes just a nice guy in general.Highly recommend you come check it out of youre interested in learning BJJ in Tucson!!!

Northside is the best gym in Tucson without a doubt. Sean and Santos skill and knowledge of the martial art is on a whole different level. Not only are they skilled and great teachers, they are great friends and easily able to get a long with. They will always stop what theyre doing to help with a question you have on a move or a certain situation youre having difficulties with. BEST decision Ive ever made by joining this family!

Best place in town to train Bjj. Instructors are humble knowledgeable. Great family to join. Ive tried most places in Tucson and this is by far the only one to be at.

If your looking for a place that teaches sport Jiu Jitsu then North Side BJJ is the place.. all classes are taught by high level belt instructors. Taking the time to ensure students( kids and adults) are learning proper technique. My husband and daughter are part of the North Side team and absolutely love the atmosphere and all it has to offer..

If I could give this place a ZERO I would. This place is unorganized and DANGEROUS. We went to have our 2 boys (7y and 5y) try it out and they provided little direction. Then they match up kids for matches with little supervision and absolutely no direction for my 2 boys who have never done Jiu Jitsu. They dont give them the rules on what to do or instructions on how to tap out. My 5yo then gets choked and didnt understand how to tap. No instructor even paid attention. My wife and I had to intervene to separate them. By that time my little guy is coughing and crying from the choke.The worst part is that the owner is grappling with a young girl and does not respond to the situation even after a fellow instructor points to what just happened.This place is reckless, unorganized, and dangerous. Im sure there are better places. AVOID this place for your kids safety.

This is one of the best Jiu Jitsu schools in Tucson, there are a few and this place is easily one of the best. Honestly, this place is one of the best Ive trained at and Ive trained in Canada, the middle east, southeast Asia and Europe and at various places in the USA and this place was an absolute pleasure to train at. Sean Huff is an amazing and knowledgeable instructor. He is professional and runs an organized, well kept school.What I found when I moved to Tucson will be part of me forever. These people are like family and thats part of what Jiu Jitsu is all about. Sure, everyone in their jiu jitsu journey has to find a place that fits them and works for them but if you are looking for high level instruction, great team mates and a supportive squad regardless of whether you are a competitor or hobbyist, Northside should be a place you check out.

I can not say enough good about Professor Sean Huff and the people he leads at his academy, North Side Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in Tucson AZ. I have known Sean for 8 years and train at Nortside BJJ whenever my travels take me to Tucson. Sean has done all the hard things in his long martial arts career and does an excellent job of passing those experiences on to his students. The energy and quality of instruction is second to none at Northside Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and I highly recommend this academy to practioners of all levels.

Having trained all over Arizona and multiple gyms out of the state I can Honestly say Northside BJJ is one of the best Martial Arts Academies Ive had the pleasure of going to. Being a Professional MMA fighter I look for an academy that has it all and Northside definitely does ! Whether its Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, Boxing, Muay Thai, Wrestling, Judo whatever it is all here and instructed by some of the most knowledgeable, patient and ACTIVE athletes and coaches you can come by.There are multiple world champions and future champions at this school. Coming to Northside will make you better no question about it best BJJ and boxing instructors around!

Very disappointed with this place. In my opinion, this place is dangerous and unorganized. My boys attended two classes and the first class seemed to go well enough for my boys to want to go back. My husband and I wanted our boys to gain life skills to protect themselves against bullies. Sadly, they were given little-to-no instruction. The second class ended with my 5yo being choked and crying. I expected more direction. My boys have never done Jui-Jitsu in their life, neither have my husband and I. So, we went in thinking wed all learn and get great direction. Wrong! The kids are just expected to know how to spar/grapple. My son has never even heard the term tap out. It will take a long time for me to get the image of my sons face telling me help me out of my mind, I jumped up and said let him go!, as another child had him in a choke. The other instructors did nothing, didnt check on my son or ask what happened! Im so disappointed and fear my boys wont ever want to try Jui-Jitsu again. Shame on this establishment. The idea should be to empower and educate young people. If you loved your sport, youd want others to learn more and embrace everyone.Updated 3/24/2017 In response to the below response from the owner:Wow! You are not accepting responsibility for what has happened nor how I feel as a parent. Instead, you are blaming me, the customer, for your negligence? This not only represents a poor businessman, but an un compassionate person and parent. Surveillance? I would offer to come take a look, but whats the point? I expected at least an apology, however that was not given. Did you also see on the surveillance how not one person/employee came to check on my son? Let alone you, the owner?Your mention of him not wanting to tap out in this so-calledsurveillance, let me correct you, hes never even heard the term! So, he didnt know he needed to tap out. We thought your school would teach our children all things Jiu-Jitsu.Our boys have done Tae Kwon Do for 2 years, weve paid thousands of dollars for it, so kimono rental fee would have been no problem!My husband and I are both professionals and can afford your fees. Our goal was to get our children trained in a martial art that could potentially protect them. This goal was not accomplished. Also, after the first session, with the other instructor we did say Thank You.flip out is a horrible way to address a very concerned parent. Now, you are trying to characterize me as a crazy person? Wow. We advocate for our children, if we dont - noone else will. Ive actually NEVER had to write a horrible review, but I felt compelled to do so in this case because a) I dont want other parents to experience what we experieced and b)I want YOU, as the owner, to address this gap in your teaching. You must recognize that a newbie...really means a newbie!And, you should pay closer attention to those new students.My children participate in quite a few sports: swimming, triathlons, track, bball and Ive never had to flip out as you characterize it.And, in case youre wondering, my son recovered nicely and luckily still wants to take Jiu-Jitsu somewhere else.Best of luck to you and your business!

Professor Sean Huff and everybody at North side Brazilian Jiu jitsu have greatly had a huge positive impact on my life. Before starting BJJ I was extreamly depressed and really had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. Sean Huff & all of my family at North side Brazilian Jiu jitsu has helped me to regain confidence and belief in myself. In just 2 years of being under the guidance of professor Huff I have gone from being depressed to extremely self confident and holding multiple gold medals one being in the International Brazilian Jiu jitsu federation and an Arizona state championship. I am beyond proud to call North side Brazilian Jiu jitsu my home & to not only call professor Huff my instructor but to call him my mentor and my friend. I wouldnt want to be anywhere else. Northside Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is an amazing gym, Sean Huff is friendly and knowledgeable. I walked in to NSBJJ at 200lbs two years ago and Im currently at about 160 and am in great shape. You wont find a better coach or friend at any other gym in Tucson. Whether you are looking to lose weight and get shredded or want to train Jiu Jitsu, muay thai, or MMA GO CHECK IT OUT.
