I have three kids who love jiu-jitsu and want to be world champions. When the level and frequency of training needed to achieve that goal was not available in our hometown of Rapid City, SD, we moved 1,250 miles across the country solely to train at De Boa; we bought a house right across the street from the academy. We have never regretted it for one moment. It was the best decision weve ever made. That should tell you everything you need to know about Andrew and Leslie. The way they run the kids program is unlike any other I know, and it *will* be copied and propagated to kids programs all over the world in the coming years. Watch and see.

By far the best gym ever. My boys started going first and then I started. They have an amazing only women’s class on Saturday’s but their day to day classes are just as great. Everyone is very welcoming and friendly, especially the owners!

This Jiu Jitsu academy is excellent. The training area is new and spacious. Plenty of stadium style seating for parents to watch. They even have a play area for smaller kids to hangout. The coaching staff is awesome, a direct reflexion to the dedication of the owners leadership. They not only teach traditional techniques, they instill discipline to become good training partners and good sportsmanship. They offer child to adult classes at all levels. I highly recommend.

Where do I start? Came here first when I moved from WA to AZ in March. I left a month later to another gym, at the time I needed a little more aggression in my rolls to push me, as I felt I was lacking something, had nothing to due with De Boa, just me. I went to another Gym located by U.S. Pizza (not Fabio Santos Gym, those guys are cool) which I shall not name because they dont deserve the business. Went to the unnamed gym for 4 months and then left due to abuse by one of the blackbelts there (and other issues related to instruction). Got what I needed and came back to De Boa, and I am very happy. I made a mistake leaving, the instruction here is top notch. Tough rolls even from white belts. Classes are offered in the morning and night, and plenty of time rolling and instruction, a good balance. Instruction is also very clear and not random and sporadic like another place I know. Best gym in the valley in terms of Price, Instruction, Schedule, and Attitude. Professors Andrew and Leslie are great instructors.

Both Andrew and Leslie are amazing people. They are THE place to train if you are on the west side. They are very welcoming and have allowed my son and I to drop in and train often with their students. The aesthetics of the gym put off the best positive/fun vibes and the mats are packed with very talented and friendly people. If you are in the Peoria/Surprise area and want to train BJJ in a safe, friendly and welcoming environment this is your new home.

When I was training overseas, I heard nothing but great things about De Boa Jiu Jitsu Academy. I moved to AZ and once settled down I visited the gym. I was greeted by Professor Andrew along with other amazing coaches. They were very welcoming and so were the other team members. After 2 sessions I knew I wanted to attend this academy and signed up! To describe this place in some words: inspirational, motivational, discipline, dedication, fitness, family. This gym is very welcoming to all ages and all levels of any MMA backgrounds. If you are looking for a clean gym with knowledgeable and friendly instructors, then this place is for you!De Boa is great for all ages. 3 years to 90 years. Professor Andrew and Coach Leslie have a passion that shows when you first meet them and continues as you get to know them.The gym is cleaned multiple times a day. It doesnt carry the typical gym stench that you usually come across. Questions are always welcome. Modifications can be given as well for slower pace, heavier weight, etc.FREE all womans class on Saturdays at 10am.Rumblers (ages 3-6) are Monday & Wednesday in am and Tuesday & Thursday pm.Kids class (6-16) Monday - Thursday 4-5 or 5:30-6:30 Friday 5:30-6:30Adult classes (16+) run both am and pm. For those hours you would need to pop in the gym.Private lessons through most coaches are available!

Love this place. I drive all the way from SW Buckeye to train there. I have a couple other academies closer to me, but to me, De Boa is Well worth the drive.For a Advanced age practitioner like myself, to the young ones, this place offers the, in my opinion, best instruction, schedule, coaching and price. I would not go anywhere else even if a place opened down the street from me.

What separates this academy and others is how they treat visitors. Everyone is very welcoming and treats you like family. Great vibes and awesome people 🤙

All three of my kids love training at De Boa. Everyone is like one big family. It is a safe and friendly place to learn Jiu Jitsu at your own pace and level. The coaches are incredible, they teach your kids so much more than just JJ. My kids are learning how to be good humans as well.

I would recommend De Boa Jiu Jitsu to anyone and everyone! My boys (ages 10 & 12) have been apart of the De Boa Family since August 2018 and have enjoyed every minute of it. Not only were my boys welcomed by everyone there but they feel this is their 2nd home. I appreciate everything Andrew & Leslie and all trainers are doing for my boys. They are truly the best and I couldn’t have picked a better place for my boys to grow and become apart of something great! I’m not always able to see my boys train daily due to my work schedule but they always talk about what they’ve learned during dinner time, and I love listening to everything. I can sincerely see the difference in their behavior and focus since they started. This place is amazing. I have been and taken my kids to several martial arts studios around the valley and this place is the best. My kids went to the MMA lab for several years and I was not impressed with the programs they had as well as the coaching turnover rate. They did not invest in their kids programs. This place has consistent coaching and treats you like you are welcome from the very beginning. The classes are unlimited. So you have flexibility to go in some days and not others. I saw more growth from my kids in the first few months than I did from them going to the lab for 2 years. My kids have grown so much that they even medales at the state championship.

First gym for BJJ and martial arts. Boy am I lucky!!!!! Incredible experience with incredible people. Dont look elsewhere if you want to roll. Reasonable discount for active duty/veterans :)

The instructors are very patient with the young new students! A lot of positive reinforcement and professionalism demonstrated by the jui jitsu instructors and mentors! My grandson didn’t want to leave after his first introduction class!

I’ve known the head instructor Andrew for 11 years. He was a blue belt when I was a brand new white belt. When my game fell apart 4 years ago, I called him up and asked for private classes in his garage (academy hadn’t opened yet). I’m now a veteran “garage warrior” that drives 1 hour each way to train in Surprise. I went from being a terrible competitor to a Masters No-GI World champion - all because of the outstanding instruction and great students. Deboa is perfect for anybody - from the casual hobbyist to the hard core competitor, old and young, fit and out of shape, men and women from a variety of backgrounds. About a year and a half ago my 8 year old son was held by his throat by a 6th grader at school so I started looking around for a place to take him that would teach him how to defend himself against bullies. DeBoa has been such a life changing experience for all of us. My whole family now does jiu jitsu here and they make us all feel like we are a part of their family as well. It’s our home away from home.
