I have a preteen daughter that has been training for 2 years at Black Force. She started out just doing 2 kids classes and quickly realized that she absolutely loved it. She now trains 5-6 days a week in Jiu Jitsu, wrestling and boxing and has full confidence in her coaches. She always feels comfortable and safe which is so important when training in such a physical and hands on sport.

I’m pretty sure this is the place. I went here last year, I liked it but I went a little to hard with some of the other guys and hurt my neck but they were so nice and very friendly. I would love to give it another shot. Because seriously I like fighting and training hard but works gets in the way and family as well but I will find time to come back. I promise on that. This is a great place and great facility

The first thing I would say is that I have 2 teenage girls- they are fully comfortable at this gym. As a mom that is super important. Second: I work out here too! I am not super fit, and I am accepted and encouraged. And the last, it is a very professional place - but super relaxed. Our family loves it here!

I joined BFMMA a few months ago. Prior to that, I found it difficult to find a legitimate martial arts facility that didnt just teach martial arts for fitness. The only person who will put a limit on what you learn here is yourself. Youll find students attending just for fitness to those training morning to evening seven days per week for cage matches.

A few months ago my son started Brazilian Jiujitsu.He takes his lessons very seriously and pays close attention to what the instructors tell him.Tonight he was given the honor of moving up a class by Coach Decker due to his training commitment and for taking the class so seriously.To say I’m proud is an understatement.I often have friends reach out and ask me now I don’t teach Martial Arts where should they train..... well... I can definitely say hand on heart they need to check out Black Force MMA Academy (it’s near the back of Best Buy in Summerville)The owner and head coach is incredible. Watching him teach reminds me of my Dad/sensei as he walks onto the mat and holds the attention of all his students. He is dedicated, knowledgeable and operates a great academy. Best Gym we have ever been a part of. Black Force really makes you feel like you are a part of a family. My kids love it there and cant imagine ever going anywhere else. The single best place to train in the low country area. My kids have grown tremendously compared to any other place we have been world wide.Highly recommended.

This is a nice martial arts training center. They have expanded and have some really nice equipment. The management and most of the students are very friendly. If you or your child have some experience with Jiu Jitsu, which is what my son was interested in, I think its probably a great place to train. If you are a complete beginner your experience will likely vary. There isnt any beginner instruction, you just get paired up with someone close to your size and away you go. If your partner is a good teacher you will learn. If your partner isnt then you or your child are just going to get injured. For example, if you dont come in knowing that you should tap when training then you are going to get choked/injured. If you dont come in knowing how to land when you get thrown, your head is going to be bouncing off the mat often. Your only reprieve there is that the instructor notices the problem among all of the different partner groups that are on the mats. For reference my son did 3 years of Tae Kwan Do at a different training center and loved it. There was a lot of teaching and he learned a lot. Tae Kwan Do didnt have any chokes or throws so he wasnt prepared for those things when he attempted Jiu Jitsu. I was hopeful that he would have a similar experience at Black Force but unfortunately it didnt work out that way. We canceled after paying even through the Pandemic when there wasnt the ability to train. We didnt want to cancel as we felt that the pandemic was outside of the control of Black Force and wasnt fair to them to cancel. I was also hoping my son would figure it out and enjoy it. Now that we have canceled, I continue to get charged and am working with my Financial institution to dispute the charges and possibly have to replace my credit card to stop the charges even though I was told that I wouldnt be charged further. Its not going to be fun having to re set up all of the other billing that I have set up on my CC but that seems to be my only option at this point.**Update**Now I’m being told I can have my money back if I take down my review and withdraw my BBB complaint. Copy of email from Black Force attached. I’ll just cancel that CC and hopefully save the next guy some headache and cash.

Awesome atmosphere! My girls love it! And they learn a lot, stay in good shape! Also they offer after school programs and lots of fun activities for kids! I would definitely recommend!

I appreciate that this gym gives parents the advantage and flexibility of taking kids to bjj 7 days a week at a cheap rate. Plenty of opportunity for growth from instructors and other kids. Thank you for what you all do and stand for 💯

We have been a Black Force family for a few years now. There is no where on earth that can beat the level of professionalism and feeling of home that BFMMA provides. If you go anywhere else for MMA training you are simply settling for second best!!

BlackForce MMA is by far the best Jujitsu gym in the Lowcountry. The instructors are wonderful with children and are great influences on their lives. They are always upbeat and positive, while still reinforcing proper techniques and strict discipline. I recommend to any family or individual looking to train in martial arts, learn new skills or just wanting to work on personal fitness. We have felt very fortunate to be a part of the Black Force family.

Ive been with BFMMA for 3 years now, and I couldnt imagine training anywhere else!

I am visiting Charleston for the 4th of July holiday. I sent an email to Blackforce MMA to see if I could train, and I got a reply within minutes. As a visitor to a gym you never know what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised by the gym and the guys there. We had a great open mat session. I really appreciate Blackforce for letting me train with them. I highly recommend the gym for your martial arts training. I will be back next time I am in town.

Wouldnt have my grandson go anywhere else

I was in Charleston for the night so I decided to stop in for a gi class. Had a great time. What a great atmosphere the place has. The instructors made me feel welcome from the minute I walked in the door. Highly recommend this school whether you are just starting you bjj journey or have been training for a while.
