I want to share my blessed experience with all of you who are considering weather yoga may benefit you.After many years of disregarding my human need for a work life balance focusing far too much on work and no life balance I had a major hemorrhagic stroke and July 2015. I was just 50 years old.The stroke left me debilitated and almost every way. I could not talk properly. I could not swallow my food without risk of choking. I could not walk. My balance was gone. My vision was affected terribly. I was not able to drive for over two years. Every part of my human normal function was adversely impacted.Right away I need to share that I am a very blessed person. I have partners that are also family members who really cared about me. I was blessed to be able to see some of the best doctors for treatment.While all of the doctors and therapist that I had at my disposal did contribute to my recovery I don’t believe any of them contributed as much as my practice of yoga working with Ms. Godfrey.My weekly private sessions as well as the homework I was assigned genuinely accelerated every aspect of my recovery. The single most beneficial component of the practice of yoga seems to be the increase in circulation from all the stretching and other physical activities including proper breathing. Circulating healthy blood flow is the cure to all ales.Additionally…. Once you begin to feel better and have practiced yoga for a few months it seems it becomes addicting. I find myself grounded and able to live in the moment rather than thinking about the 30 different things that seems to stay on my mind all the time. Yoga has given me so much peace and control over my mind body and soul.I highly recommend everyone find some time to explore this most wonderful and healing activity. It not only will allow and encourage yourself to be a better and healthier human but it then benefits all those around you. I find myself smiling all the time. As I’m approaching others that may have a frown on their face they cannot help but become inspired by my smile! Smiling creates positive endorphins that flow all through your body. If you are looking for some modest physicality, unlock those hips and shoulders, get a great stretch and at the same time test your strength and duration? Or maybe you want something more esoteric and like activate energy and learn how to electricity and magnetize your chakras for health to your body and spiritual connection to your soul or true self and the cosmos? This is a great place to get started. It’s a great pathway for doing the work that we will eventually have to do in our timeless journey.

I highly recommend classes at Body and Brain Yoga Woodlands! You will leave with a calm mind and a sense of newfound energy. Maureens in person classes give you a new perspective on how to live your life to the fullest. They also offer many other options for online classes with different time slots and a variety of styles with different instructors. If you want to try something out thats a little bit different than traditional yoga I would recomend giving it a try.

When I walked into Body and Brain Yoga, during a festival/open house, I knew this was different from other yoga studios Id attended. I won a free month. Im into my second year now. I no longer experience deep pains in my joints, Im 55 lbs lighter, and my thoughts are clearer. I have more energy and positive attitude.With a spring to my step, I walk into classes knowing Ill come away with the feeling of well being, both physically and mentally. Maureen is a gifted instructor, committed to her members. I love the anticipation of each interesting class. Though, each day of the week has a purpose, such as TaiChi on Tuesdays, Maureen spices up the daily routines. All members are friendly, open, and genuinely supportive, happy people. With all that good energy, you cant help but come away refreshed.

This is a amazing class, I feel very relax and peaceful after I take it, everyone does it at their own pace, teach you a lot about breathing and knowing your body from inside and out. Teacher is very warm person, knowledgeable, funny and make the class very interesting, everybody makes you feel welcome!I highly recommended

The Owner, Maureen, is such a gentle spirit. She really cares for each and every one of her students. It is not your typical yoga class either. It is designed to get your blood flowing and your brain moving. My sister and I have been a part of Body and Brain Yoga for just a couple months and plan on continuing...

Being a member of this practice and center has literally changed my life. I was diagnosed as permanently handicapped by various surgeons and the State of Texas based on severe spinal issues about 8 years ago. I literally could not walk through a grocery store or any other store for that matter without the aid of a scooter. I could not stand, sit or lay down for any length of time due to intense pain and living life to the fullest was something that I had given up on. I started this practice for the meditation aspect so I could deal with the stress that surrounded my life. I found much more than the “peace” that comes from meditation – I found the joy and enthusiasm for life that I had given up on. Through the stretching and yoga portion of the program, I have strengthened my core and my transformation has been amazing. I no longer need any scooter to go through any store, I also am about an inch taller because I can stand straight up instead of being hunched. In addition (though I changed nothing about my eating habits), I have lost 3 pant sizes and 2 shirt sizes and I feel like a new woman. I’m sure that has to do with being able to live a more active life. I still have the pain, but can deal with it much better because I’ve grown so much in the spiritual aspect of the practice through the meditation. So, no matter what your age is or your physical issues are, I encourage you to check out this center and begin your transformation.

This studio is amazing with so much love given by the leaders and members alike! Classes are taught to help your health improve, your body to get stronger, and your soul to grow! Its connecting everything as one. Learn to be mindful and aware of who you are and things around you. Learn to bring more peace within yourself and help to bring peace to our world as we grow together through kindness, love, gratitude, & helping others. Special classes and trips are available too! I visited there today from Iowa since I am on a work trip. The staff and the students all welcomed me with open arms and were extremely inviting. I had not done this type of yoga before but they provided great instruction. I got to enjoy some tea before and after class. The yoga floor is interesting because I am used to the traditional mat but it was pretty cool!! I would definitely go back.

I walked into Body and Brain in The Woodlands one month ago a mess. I was stressed out and felt like I had a traffic jam in my neck, extreme ringing in my ears and impaired concentration. Wow - what a difference a month makes! The classes are wonderful, the other students are welcoming and Maureen, the center’s director, is Awesome! Maureen is a marvelous teacher and incredible Healer. Highly Recommend to anyone wishing to improve their health and energy levels!

Two and a half years ago I was introduced to this practice in Kingwood accepting a free month practice due to Harvey. That was so generous of Maureen, the owner of that store.Little did I know what an amazing effect this practice would have on my body and my mind! It is nothing compared to the other yogaclasses I had taken. Feeling the connection with your own body and your mind is amazing. What a tool it is to be conscious about the effect of you mind on you body : my body is not me it is mine.This practice is a profound work on you health in a natural and profound way.Therefor I keep driving to the Woodlands now since the practice in Kingwood closed. The energy in the class with other people and the guidance of the owner supports you in any way. You walk out uplifted, relaxed, cared for, respected, more peaceful, some insight, ...I can truly recommend it to anyone.

I have been doing Body & Brain Yoga for about a year and a half now and it has helped to significantly change my life for the better. While the road hasnt always been easy (is it ever?... :) ), I can honestly say I feel more grounded and better able to live my life with a sense of peace and happiness. I wish you the best in your life practice as well, wherever you may find a home.Update 12/12/2014As I approach three years doing Body & Brain Yoga, my perspectives have certainly changed, but the underlying truth remains the same. This is a phenomenal practice to help one strengthen body, mind and spirit as well as awaken a deeper piece of ourselves and connect with our soul. I have heard of, seen and experienced for myself a number of different healing stories and in some way (and usually many... :) ) I feel better every time I leave than when I went in.

The Woodland Body and Brain is cozy and fill of energy. The first day I walked in their I fault this warm and loving energy and the head instructor Maureen, is the most nicest person in the world. She is so welcoming. Not only that after practicing and taking couple classes a week my body condition changed. I fault much lighter and much focused. This program is wonderful. I always did strength training at the gym but my posture and flexibility was awful and I had so much tension in my neck and shoulders. Now after practicing at the center, my posture and flexibility has improved and I have a lot less tension, but there is MORE! With the meditation, breathing and brain exercises, I am more confident, relaxed and using my energy in such positive ways. The owner( Maureen) of the center is such a positive supportive person and the center itself has so much peaceful healing energy that you almost benefit by just walking though the doors.

Regular yoga classes did not provide enough for me. I craved more time for stretching, meditation and a real sense of connection with my practice.Body and brain provides much more than yoga. I found a nurturing environment for both my body and soul. The combined energy of good people and great practice has been life changing for me.

The first time I stepped into Body & Brain The Woodlands, I felt warmth and acceptance. I first met one of the instructors Joanna, who is very nice and has a very positive energy surrounding her. I was told to come the next day to have a one on one session with the owner Maureen. Her positive energy got me to smile and she is very attentive towards her clients. She is a great mentor in my journey and I am positive that any of her clients would say the same. She is a healer, and I managed with her help to have slim to no panic attacks. And when i do have them, I focus on the technics she thought me, and I manage to control them. This is indeed my happy place, my mood has changed tremendously and I am becoming more flexible, and the aches I used to have are starting to heal. Love, Love, Love this place! If you need any type of healing or just to gain flexibility, or need help on how to manage stress, this is the place I would recommend.

Ive always enjoyed yoga for the body-toning aspects and the muscle balancing. I appreciate THIS particular form of yoga for the brain exercises as well. Its a wonderful environment and I can even take a class at lunch and get back to work without a sweat, literally. Ive found my 55-year-old lower back has responded very well to this training - no pain or achiness anymore. My posture is fabulous!

Over the past few years I have tried several different types of yoga. I like the Korean style the best because it helps me calm my stress through meditation techniques. It has also helped me with some knee problems that I used to have from a car accident. The staff is always very nice and up beat.

I started going to Body and Brain in March of this year. Before that I was going once a month to get my back adjusted from someone else. I had been doing this for 28 years. After I had been with Body and Brain for about 3 weeks my back problem left and has not returned. I am so glad I found them.I have come a long way in getting my whole being healthy and would not trade them for anything.

I was in dire need of stretching my achy body. I thought I would start easy by doing some yoga. I came to the center and received much, much more than I bargained for! Not only was the stretching wonderful and hitting all the right spots, but also Dahn Master Maureen and all the staff and participants were open, accepting and supportive to help me achieve my goals. Ive studied energy healing techniques such as Reiki, healing martial arts such as tai chi and ki gong, cross training for strength and cardio, and nutrition. Body and Brain has managed to integrate these practices and provide a more balanced approach than I saw from any of these methods taken separately. I have practiced there alongside people who were more fit and less fit than I and everyone could be successful because of the noncompetitive nature of the practice and the instructors. Thanks for the health I now enjoy because of you!
