I’m am so frustrated with this facility. They do not communicate or help you through the process of applying. I have submitted 2 applications with help from a hospital and help from our insurance company. The first application was denied. My insurance case worker and the hospital and myself had to make multiple calls, emails, etc just to get them to finally make a decision to which they would not even give me a reason for denial. In fact the woman who informed me was extremely unhelpful and had no compassion, she refused to tell my why or what needed to be done for success. My insurance agent spoke with someone who eventually got them to agree to a re-application process and yet now it has been weeks, with no replies to my emails. My insurance against even had to reach out to his boss and called this process ridiculous. Excelsior advertises that they are a resource for families. All any of us want to do is help our kids- unfortunately Excelsior is not the resource they claim to be. It has been over 2 months.

Well I graduated from this place back in 2016 when I was 17. I spent my 17th birthday in Excelsior. I went in originally for my declining mental health. My grandmother had to say that I was on drugs, in order for me to get the straight up help I needed. The boys I stayed in there with were specifically in there for drugs, but also had mental health issues like me. My mental health issues were more PTSD related and this place was the ONLY treatment center that actually tried to help me, I completed my time at Excelsior, and graduated from High School early because this place helped me so much, seriously life changing.

My appointments have been cancelled the day ofn twenty minutes before the scheduled time literally four times. The first time, no one even bothered to call me. I had to call because I had yet to receive the link for the video call, and only then did the receptionist tell me the person I was scheduled to see had left to go get his Covid shot. Congrats to him--that was really awful for me.My GP sent me to a psychiatrist for closer monitoring and help finding the right medications to help me thrive instead of just skating by. Unfortunately, that has not happened. Getting a response to an e-mail, even when its just to discuss titrating up to the next dose and its an expected message, is nigh impossible. So many times, Ive been unable to get the next dose or refill in a timely manner, and because theyre schedule C the pharmacy is unable to provide a dose to last until the order comes through. Its distressing every time.Calling to schedule appointments usually has me leaving a message, never getting a call back, and then calling and hoping to get an answer over the course of a few days.I was given a referral for a counselor to help with issues medication cant deal with. What they never called back to tell me was theyre not referring out to their counselors anymore--I only found out when I called back after a week and heard nothing. When I mentioned it to the psychiatrist during our next appointment, she basically said, Oh yeah, whoops, try psychologytoday.com and find someone there. Thats also proving to be a headache. The fact no one bothered to communicate any of this to me only adds to the frustration. My appointments are always ten minutes behind, rushed, I have to repeat everything weve talked about before, and I dont feel listened to. Ive been trying to get help from a psychiatrist since last March, and with state insurance the pickings are slim. Thats the only reason I continue to try and work with these people. All in all, its unprofessional, mentally exhausting, and disheartening. If you enjoy feeling like a burden and afterthought, definitely recommend! If you have any self-love or respect, maybe seek help elsewhere.

I am who I am today because of this school and the staff who worked their. I attended this school for 3 years. I especially thank Sara Schumacher who didnt just work there but gave all her love time and dedication; here I am almost 20 years later and giving thanks to God for everything I went through and the people I met. Thank you Sara and thank you to my beloved Mama for never giving up on me, because today I am a woman who walks with her head high.

Excelsior Wellness Center has grown tremendously in the last 7 years I have worked here. There are so many beneficial services worth looking into for youth, individuals, and families. I am grateful for opportunity to serve and witness transformative growth firsthand on a daily basis. The people we work for are truly an inspiration. #whatwedomatters

I graduated from EYC in 1997, (yes its been that long). Im forever grateful and will always cherish the good people who helped me SO MUCH when I needed it the most. I probably never would have graduated or lived this long if it hadnt been for this wonderful school especially for kids like I was. Bill and Sue, I especially will never forget you. Bill took me rafting for the first time and Sue always assured me I was okay. Also Bill, you read me Hinds Feet On High Places and that story has always kept me thinking, loving, and trying. I will never forget you, as long as I live

Seemed like a friendly upbeat environment. The intake process was good. I left feeling that my son would finally get help for behavioral as well as addiction to weed. Was i ever wrong!!! Previous to sending him to excelsior I had read many reviews of teens running from the facility. Thats exactly what happened within the first 24 hr. Of his stay! He not only ran but almost his whole unit left with him. He had previously finished a 45 day program at sundown near yakima and didnt attempt to run at all!!! We sent him there because he needs help.. they wouldnt work withHim at all! Do not send your teen there setting them up for failure!

Kids run amok causing crimes that in turn bring disrepute to entire community as a bad neighborhood. No cameras. People have been harmed as a result of these kids having no discipline. They are troubled and need proper guidance. This place does none of that and in the process harms the community to no end. Such a disgrace. Take your kids to a martial arts Dojo instead for them to get the discipline to be a productive member of society. Clearly this isnt the place to turn their lives around.

I have no experience with this institution, however, you parents with autism children have NO room to talk smack about this facility! It takes more than a youth center to raise an autism child! So instead of blaming other people for your failure, reach out and learn how to raise your special needs child!

Great staff, innovative programs. EYC is really trailblazing clinical services every single day. I had the opportunity to live in this facility and watch it thrive. EYC is second to none, offering services unseen throughout our inland Northwest community such as free healthcare for at risk youth and families!

For those too stupid to realize, EYC has saved many lives including mine. We dont run amok or hurt people. Kids run away because that stuff is voluntary and they dont have to stay. There are cameras by the way. The fact that people dont even take the time to give it a chance is not okay. Also can yall stop reviewing if you have never been inside or recieved any kind of treatment there?

My only son was admitted to this facility after he was abandoned by me years prior. His involvment was hard for him at first. After more than a year of being a patient he graduated and came home 6 months ago. Now, tomorrow we graduate services through the department of child and welfare. Evan misses staff and is doing well at school and at home. We are safe and happier because of the help and encouragement from Excelsior staff. From the front desk to the back room this place is made up of magic and mercy. Its an homor not a humiliation to know this institution. Sincerely, Karen C. Borrero

I agree, place is a definite joke. Parents, this place doesnt even drug test their employees before or during employment! Its a bit hypocritical in my opinion to allow chemically dependant employees to be giving your children any advice or help what so ever. When asked why no drug testIng the response I got was they supposedly do a more thorough background check than law enforcement jobs.... last I knew cops got a wiz quiz too.... know employees there personally and itd be the last place Id send my worst enemy let alone my kid.

Place is a joke from a parents perspective with communication or the lack of. Tonight I got a call from someone and within 2 minutes I called back with no answer....the automated system that allows to dial extensions didnt even work. With all the blockage of communication and lack of transparency with even medication permissions I think maybe this place should be audited or reviewed by the state but I am very uncomfortable with my kid in there and hope that when tomorrow I find out what was up there is a great explanation for why I cant contact anyone. you have pissed off and concerned the wrong parent and I will go very far to make sure they cannot continue to get away with this mismanagement of protocols responsibilities and communication.

My brother went here and was kiked out the first day for behavioral issues (running away) and the most rediclous part is not only did his whole unit run but staff already new he was planning on running! ALSO he has AUTSIM and went there specifically to get help for behavioral issues and weed, so what do they do? They kick him out for just that. The people that are incharge are very cold when it comes to the kids overall story and don’t really fight to help them succeed. This place is a joke don’t send your family here.
