We moved to South Pasadena from overseas and I wanted somewhere small where my 2.5 year old daughter would get enough attention with her early education. She had settled in so well and has made some lovely friends. Shante provides fun but educational activities structured throughout the school day. My daughters counting, and vocabulary has come such a little long way. She does cooking and yoga and provides a broad curriculum in an intimate and caring learning environment and great low child: teacher ratio. Highly recommend it

When I first met Shante, the school director/teacher, I thought her capable and kind, and the school or first floor of a small two-story house where she lives, seemed to have potential.I was still touring other schools and while Garden of Angels wasnt at the top of my list, I wanted to keep it as an option. So I submitted my application and some enrollment papers with the $300 application/registration fee...with reservations. When I contacted Shante a few times to discuss my reservations and questions it would take anywhere from a few days to a week for her to write me back! The last straw was when I hadnt heard from her and decided to stop by, not only as a parent seeking information pertinent to my decision to enroll my child in her school, but also to see if any of the improvements she promised were complete were indeed just that, however she wasnt home and while I couldnt see inside, the supposed and necessary backyard improvements were not done. I promptly sent her an email stating that I would not be enrolling my child in her school and asked for $200/300 back from her. I thought it fair due to the advance notice on my part and the lack of correspondence/follow through on hers. She promptly responded stating that she would return the $200 I requested. This was May 4, it is now July 19 and I have not received the money she promised to return to me. I have emailed her 3 times requesting she make good on her word and no response, still no money. Shante clearly displayed dishonesty on more than one occasion and I certainly dont want a dishonest person taking care of my child.

Shante is an amazing RIE-trained early childhood educator with lots of experience. This is a home-based preschool and they spend a lot of time in Garfield park - a wonderful little park and playground. Theres a beautiful rhythm to the day and she uses wonderful materials like natural beeswax for modeling and stockmar crayons - but she and the school arent pretentious or rigid like a traditional Waldorf can be. My son has thrived here and he truly loves Shante.
