Definitely recommend!!! Janice is a wonderful trainer and does an excellent job! I have been riding here for 7 years now and have progressed so much. She takes really good care of her horses. The best part of twin acres though is the people their, and the staff. There is always someone to help you if you need help. Everyone is really nice. Also the riding school provides you with boots and helmets along with all the tack. You should definitely come here!!

Twin Acres is by far the best barn you are going to find. The people are so amazing, caring, and helpful. I have been riding here for over six years and it is because of Janice I have turned into the rider and the person I am today. I have seen her remove toxic girls from the stables and she is very focused on creating an atmosphere that is safe and welcoming. It is not your typical preppy barn where you go in feeling unwelcome and like an outsider. If you are looking to jump as high as possible in only a week of riding, this is not the place for you. If you want to learn the art of riding and how to correctly control the animal, then by all means this school is where you should be.

I came there for the summer camp and it was amazing. She has so many horses for each level where ever you are at and takes good care of all of them. She has the best care for all of her horses and takes great care of her students as well. I got so hot in the summer I started seeing dots and she made me sit down and drink water then sat with me until I felt better!! She has 2 arenas and a round pen so if you dont feel comfortable in a big arena, she has a smaller one or the round pen!! She helped me so much with making my leg stronger so I can control better!! She has done such amazing things for me and can do it for you to.

Location! Location! Location! Twin Acres is a family owned riding school in the heart of Scottsdale. That treats you like family! I was 10 when I first rode with Jacqui. I had the best riding lesson experiences ever. Pony Camp was awesome too back in the day. At Twin Acres it is not all about riding. Jacqui instructs on :caring for your horse, stable management, feeding the horses, loving the horse, and having a relationship with the horse. In my opinion- to be a successful rider. You must have a caring and loving relationship with your horse. Plus, you get a little extra instruction on how to be a friend and work as a team. No egos at all here. We are all one working for the same goal. Improving ourselves as riders. Come visit the ranch for yourself. Get a feel for it. You will be glad you did. I am now 42 and I am back at Twin Acres. Trust me. I came back after all these years. There is something special about this place. It is a place where lifetime memories are made.

I think Janice is a great trainer, she takes very very good care of her horses, When they are hurt she helps them. I have been riding for 7 years and i truly think it is a great place and i have learned so much from her!! If it wasnt for Janice so many horses wouldnt have been their, alive. I am so happy that I went to twin acres. I havent ever fallen off and because of Janice she is teaching me the classic riding and right ways to ride. Thank You Janice!!

My daughter has been riding with Twin Acres for 6+ years and had never been on a horse her first trip there. You will find cliques of girls at EVERY barn- how the barn deals with it is what separates the classy from the trashy. I have personally witnessed Janice dismiss girls from the barn due to unhealthy interactions with others. This is a conscious choice to maintain a culture of positivity and requires courage. If you want an all-star competitive jumping experience, Twin Acres is likely not the place for you. If however if you want light jumping and to learn proper horsemanship, with attention to the art of riding, handling and training of horses, then this is the place for you. There are no easy days- each lesson and experience is intended to make you a better rider, learning how to control the animals direction, gait and speed with maximum effectiveness and minimum effort. After all, the horse knows what to do, they just need to be guided to do it in a symbiotic relationship which is learned and taught, not given or taken.

I would HIGHLY recommend staying away from this riding “school”. We witnessed multiple issues: Children would get berated/shamed/yelled at when their parents weren’t present, Janice and Jacque would show up to lessons smelling of pot, horses are lame and lacking veterinary care, the list goes on and on... There are a number of well run lesson programs just east of this facility near Cactus and the 101 or up north near Dynamite and Tatum. There is also a higher end barn merely a mile away from here. Please take your child to ANY of those other programs!

Julie & Janice are the best! They truly care about their students learning horsemanship (not just riding). The horses are well taken care of and even have misters and fans in the summer months. I think the most impressive aspect of this barn is how they care for their older lesson horses. Many of these horses were “thrown out” by other show barns and Janice has personally seen to it that they love out their lives happy and well cared for. Every student loves these older horses as their own and often will tell me stories about them when I’m there. One of their horses is in his mid 30s and still calls for the students when he sees them. This is a true testament to the care and consideration they pass along to their students!

Janice is the best instructor I ever experienced. My daughter(age 22) and I (pretty old) took lessons from Janice. She is all about safety, our main concern, and her horses are well behaved. She is one of the kindest, considerate, informative, and supportive equestrians I have ever met. My only regret is that we had to suddenly stop our lessons due to my health concerns but hopefully, after I recover, I can again learn to ride better and safer under Janices tutelage. You will not go wrong putting yourself in her care. She also speaks normally into a speaker to be heard across the large arena, thus you can clearly hear her wisdom and instruction.

The girls are really mean... I loved Janice but I was also not allowed to ride a horse all because it spooked and they assumed it was my fault. They were super rude to me all the time and I never really felt in place there. It took me 2 years to start jumping and they are extremely overpriced. I am currently at United Farms and within my first 2 weeks I was jumping 2 foot. They blame the riders for all the problems when it was clearly provoked from something else. I recommend somewhere else, especially United Farms with Jill Lunsford. She puts the rider first and makes sure you are always okay. When I see Janice at shows she is screaming at her rider... Its to the point where even one of their trainers lessons at United Farms and not Twin Acres. They are an awful facility and I do NOT recommend!

Janice is a fantastic instructor. I used to ride a lot as a kid but had not been in the saddle for 40 years! I’m from NYC and was in town for a conference. I came across Twin Acres school of riding. I took lessons for 3 days in a row. Janice matched me with the perfect horse. She was able to judge my abilities immediately and was very patient. By the end of the 3 days, I was cantering! I’d highly recommend this place. It is very clean and the horses are well behaved.

Expect poor treatment of the children, horses, and staff. Janice is a two-faced Individual and will talk poorly about everyone behind their back. You’ll notice it after the “newness” wears off... she’ll start to let little things out: this staff member does this wrong, she’ll scream at a child that they are going to hurt a horse if they don’t do something a certain way, or her and her sister will get into it with each other. At a bare minimum she is not professional and she may be bordering into abuse. Your child will be much better off at another barn.

I used to love this place but as time went on, I realized it wasn’t as great as it seemed. I had been riding there for more than two years and had just started jumping cross rails. If you are looking to progress quickly or ride competitively, I do not recommend Twin Acres. The horses there are not well cared for and every thing you do is wrong, even if it is done exactly how they told you. I have fallen off several times for reasons I can’t control ( such as my horse spooking from water bottles, white shirts, and loud cars) and every time the trainer explained how I did something wrong. I’ve now been riding at a different facility for a while. After two months of being there, I was jumping 2’ 6”, rather than a cross rail not even 6 inches off the ground. This place is not good. Jackie and Janice are very self absorbed and will find a way to bring any conversation back to themselves and their childhood or experiences. I do not recommend Twin Acres and hope that you decide to ride somewhere else.

Simply one of the best riding stables out there! They have always treated me like family and the care for the horses is top notch. Janice and her late boyfriend, Ira, have connections all over the United States and Europe to help their customers get phenomenal horses.

I have been riding dressage for over 15 years with instructors from all over the globe. Janice had a very cold personality, critiqued everything tiny thing. It was my first time trying her facility. She treated me as if I knew nothing about riding or dressage, I wanted the full hour and couldn’t even get that. Not a single thank you for your business or anything. Her barn hand was beyond sweet and kind but Janic herself is not very polite. No assessment of skill level just kept talking about everything she knew and what she did. Never in all my life has a trainer treated me like that. Plus $65.00 for 1/2 is insane for what your getting. My bronze medalist - Grand Prix instructor back home doesn’t even charge that.

I was thrown from my horse and received a head injury with Janice as the instructor. Janice didn’t do a warm up or assessment of skill level and on my second lap I was thrown from the horse and landed on my head. Even though I couldn’t speak and could barely walk Janice charged me in full for my lesson and sent me on my way (which was to the emergency room). After months of recovery I inquired if her insurance company could help pay for my medical bills and she said NO YOU SIGNED A WAIVER. She didn’t ask if I was okay, if I was going to be okay, absolutely cold as ice. Janice is a terrible instructor and I am writing this review because I would hate if this happened to anyone else, especially a child. I have never met a less caring person in my entire life and hope you choose to ride elsewhere so this doesn’t happen to you.
