My child goes to Samuel Clemens High School and is currently doing remote learning. Ive been observing his video lessons and omg I have caught so many mistakes that these teachers have made. This is ridiculous that they arent teaching my child correctly.

I dont know about the district as a whole, but the high school has been operating in an extremely unsafe way during COVID and so I have to imagine this is true for the whole district. Any staff who speaks out is penalized for this despite enduring extremely hazardous work conditions and trying to make it better. The definition of exposure is so strict that almost no one is considered exposed when someone tests positive, despite sitting next to each other in classrooms, working with teachers, and eating maskless with other students at lunch. The custodial staff is continually short so desks are not being sanitized daily, floors are not being swept or cleaned, and deep cleaning is absolutely not happening. Teachers who take safety seriously by wearing face shields in addition to masks are mocked. Even those staff members who are in vulnerable populations and should, by every recommendation by health officials, be given the option (and really, encouraged) to work from home and forced to work in the building or leave their jobs. More and more students are returning to in-person learning while more and more teachers and custodians are leaving their positions either from sickness, being forced out, or resigning, creating increasingly hazardous conditions. While some districts are building in buffer days between holidays to allow for students to get tested after gatherings before returning to school, this districts is building in no such flexibility. Teachers are forced to use personal days if they are sick or waiting for test results before returning to school. It is appalling that this district is refusing to adapt to changing times and is proceeding in such a business-as-usual manner, putting the health and safety of their staff and students at terrible risk. There is no humanity, kindness, or flexibility, and when it is offered verbally, its accompanied by sharp reminders about deadlines or prods to do more (i.e. take care of yourself! Go home and rest! And make sure that paperwork is on my desk by 9am.)
