Husband and are visiting and someone from our home Dojo recommend this location. It was the best recommendation we received! The professor is great and he welcomed us like we have been going to his gym forever. The students were also amazing. The best part was there was another lady training. Will be visiting every time I visit the island!

Very nice atmosphere and the people there, including the instructor, are very friendly. There is also a wide variety of ranks, both male and female, so its easy to find a suitable training partner. I definitely enjoyed my experience and would recommend it to anyone looking to get some training in while in Puerto Rico!

Prof. Carlos Reyes kindly extended the offer of participating in a drop in class while I was in San Juan for work. While walking in, 2 of his students were outside the academy, they noticed my gi and made me feel very welcome.Prof Reyes gave a great class on double under guard passing, and I was able to roll with him and several of his blue belts. As I travel a bit for work, it is always greatly appreciated when I can train on the road. Thank you Prof Reyes and all your students!

My review for Brazilian Jui-Jitsu Puerto Rico. I planned a nine day vacation in PR but didnt contact any schools till I was there. I spoke with school owner Carlos Reyes and he was very friendly and enthusiastic. I participated in two classes: one a gi fundamentals and a no gi advanced class. In the gi class we warmed up with a little running and did a few brief stretches. Carlos then told the class he wanted them to be able to demonstrate seven mount escapes. Carlos watched the class and picked out two escapes that people were having the most trouble with and we drilled those. Carlos then explained that in order to escape from different mount attacks you need more than two escapes and to able to chain them together. We then went over an escape no one else in the class was doing and in this I added a technique to my tool box. At the end of class there was a blue belt promotion and hand shaking. Everyone who shook my hand had a genuine smile on their faces and everyone was very friendly. The advanced no-gi class started the same way as the fundamentals. Before class several of the participants shook my hand and introduced themselves. We started with an effective take down from the clinch that was simple enough to learn without much additional coaching needed. We then worked a counter and escape to a common half guard passing attack which just happened to be my favorite half guard attack. After drilling the takedown with the half guard attack counter together it was time to spar. I sparred with Carlos and we sparred together for the rest of the class. Carlos is a brown belt under Rilion Gracie and Im a senior purple under Relson Gracie. The sparring was the best part of the evening. Carlos game is very technical and at no time did he resort to strength. I only the other hand have no qualms about that yet in my development and Carlos countered it all. Carlos caught me in a far side armbar from side control and a left arm armbar from guard. I honestly dont think Ive ever been caught with either of these submissions (either arm on the far side arm lock and the left arm only on the armbar from guard). Me and Carlos are in our 40s and we both train in very traditional BJJ so getting submitted by basic techniques says a lot in todays games of complex and non stop varied attacks. To sum it all up I was made to feel very welcomed to the school and as an older grappler I felt completely safe rolling with the young guys because its obvious that meatheads are shown the door. I felt I bonded with Carlos and his facility promotes comradery in a safe and clean environment. The new student will learn the rock solid fundamentals before going on to the intricacies of modern jiu-jitsu and the advanced student will no doubt expand his game and improve his execution of it. I may go back to PR in 2014 and this time I plan on taking several classes at Rilian Grace BJJ.

(Spanish below) Professor Carlos Reyes Jiu Jitsu academy set the standard for every Jiu Jitsu gym I will ever visit. From my first class there, I felt welcomed and supported both by him and by the rest of the students. Rilion Gracie Puerto Rico perfectly mixes high-quality martial arts training with a culture of camaraderie and good sportsmanship. Professor Reyes teaches both in Spanish and English and always makes sure that every student understands the lesson before he moves on to the next technique. I recommend this academy to everyone, both beginners and experienced martial artists. You will leave every class feeling satisfied and excited to go back. The Jiu Jitsu academy of Professor Carlos Reyes set the standard for every Jiu Jitsu academy that I will visit.
