Ive gone sailing and kayaking from here quite a few times now and weve always had a great time. Bonus points that youre allowed to bring dogs on the boat! Online reservation, check in, and picking up and returning the sailboat have always been easy and smooth. You have to stay within the bridges but it doesnt feel like youre missing out on anything, 2 hours was plenty of time on the water for us.

Do not paddle board here!! The safety is super lax, they make you sign 2 waivers, that should have been my first red flag. They dont warn you about the rough currants that make it extremely difficult to paddle back to shore, the wind and waves push you so far out it took us almost 2 hours just to paddle back to shore, I was in panic mode, they literally charge you a $75 fee if you need assistance which tells me they know people get stuck often so they should do a better job warning people of the potential risks but they dont, they barely give you a hello. Compared to other SUP and kayaking rental spots this place definitely sucks, go to the Liberty Station Bay instead, theyre much more informative and actually care about your safety and the water is way calmer.

This place has so much potential! With sailboats and can be beautiful views. But part of the park was so filled with trash and people camping out it really is sad that such a beautiful spot does not remain beautiful.

Rented kayaks this afternoon. Mondays are highly recommended as it was super quiet on the water.Got a great three hour paddle in and what a killer workout!!Rental prices were reasonable. Employees could have been a little more friendly but it was a fun day nonetheless.

Birthday jet ski fun! Parking is tight and the rates are a little higher than other outfits in the area, but the staff was great!

Some of the best customer service Ive ever experienced. We were treated the way the best waiters and waitresses treat their guests. The whole process of renting a sailboat and the hand off between employees was incredible. Each person seemed to know we were coming even though it wasnt scheduled ahead of time. They all smiled, were very cordial, and treated us like they were genuinely invested in our experience. The boat itself was good, clean, and maintained well. Like most of their sailboats, they were already rigged up when we walked down to the dock. Couldnt be happier with our experience.

Our kids loved the summer day camp at MBSC. The counselors were safe and fun, and the kids got to try different water activities and play new games each day. Highly recommended!

Rented a ski boat with my son and it was great. Staff was helpful and efficient. I’ve rented jet skis here before and same good experience. If you do get the ski boat request one with sunbrella, makes a big difference IMO.

Very confusing confirmation email asking us to be here 15, 30, 45 min early to our rental. We arrive 45 mins early to be safe. The place isn’t open at 8am. We can hear the phone ringing inside and a line now forming. So far they’ve made a pretty terrible first impression.

Always love coming here each week to enjoy what San Diego has over many other large cities, which is the easily accessible bodies of water that we can take advantage of. Usually rent a tandem kayak or single when I’m with friends. It’s a great escape from everything that has been going on this year. Staff is always amazing and super friendly! Recommend for anyone visiting or locals that need a quick escape from downtown or what the hustle and bustle of the week.

We rented a “craigcat” here. It was a lot of fun, and the MBSC staff was great.They have tons of stuff for rent - catamarans, sail boats, paddle boards, jet skis and even a jet pack. We opted for the craigcat because there was just two of us, and we were just looking for something fun and relaxing to do.It was a great choice. It was $75 hot one hour. This thing is basically a motorized mini catamaran. You are very close to the water. It supposedly has a top speed of 30 mph, but I have my doubts. But we didn’t care. We just explored the bay at a mellow cruising speed. It was really a lot of fun.The staff was great, and very efficient. The place was EXTREMELY busy, but they got us in and out very quickly.

I recently went here to kayak jere at Mission Bay Sportcenter and it was great! The bay water is so calm and an excellent place to learn how to kayak. Being out on the water is so peaceful and I had a blast! My first time kayaking so terrifying with another water company and I was hesitant to try it again but this time around, it was amazing and Id gladly do it again. If youre in San Diego and want to be out in the water to and a looking to try and kayak, this is the place to do it! This is also great for kids as well as they can paddle with an adult or use their own kayaks. Life vests are provided so youll be safe too.

Rented some paddle boards and had a great time paddling around the bay. Will always do this activity when friends/family visit from out of town.

We really enjoyed our time here! We were a group of 8 in town for my bachelorette party! The staff were incredibly accommodating and fabulous picture takers! We rented the YOLO board (huge SUP) which fit everyone at one time! So much fun and only $35 for an hour! We also rented a jet ski during the hour and had a blast! Everyone was friendly and I highly recommend!!

Rented a pair of paddle boards for my brother and I. Rates were good, especially with the Groupon. Paddle boards were in good shape and quickly prepared for us. Great first experience.

Decided to rent a 22 Capri sailboat for Fathers Day with my wife and kids. Check in was friendly and quick and we were boarding our boat for the day. Since I had experience sailing, I was quickly briefed on the boat and we were off. Boat was fairly clean, but rental quality at best. Staff was super friendly as we made occasional stops at the dock throughout the day for food and bathroom trips. Definitely would recommend to anyone looking to spend a relaxing fun day on Misson Bay.

We drove around for 30 minutes looking for parking .. couldn’t find anything. Called and told them and they said they would give us a ‘credit’ for our boat reservation. We live In Colorado and won’t be back anytime soon. Didn’t offer any other solution or remedy. I understand it isn’t their fault we couldn’t find parking but I would expect a little more customerService ...especially after paying for our boat rental months ago. Very disappointed.

Whether Im boating on the weekend or renting a tandem kayak on my days off, Mission Bay Sportcenter has always been more than accommodating. Their prices per hour are affordable for any individual or for a large group. If youre visiting San Diego or live in the area, Mission Bay Sportcenter rentals are a must! You get the best of what San Diego has to offer. I recommend renting a boat during sunset to capture the most amazing photos. The friendly staff and available equipment and vehicles are what keeps me coming back!

We had a fine customer service experience and a lovely sail on one of their Hobie Getaway catamarans. My only negative comment I have is on the condition of the boats hardware... A few pieces missing here and there, to the point that I would have felt unsafe in a squall or any wind over about 15 knots. The boats are pretty beat up, which is to be expected to some extent, as they get used hard - but the hardware and rigging needs to be maintained.

2nd time renting from these guys, staff is very helpful and friendly. Both times weve rented platoons and theyre a lot of fun! Highly recommend mission bay sports!

Horrible experience. Rented a lily pad, it was delivered 45 minutes late. Once it arrived- it was ripped almost half way, we could only use half of the pad- yet still charged the delivery fee and full price. I also rented a jet ski online days before- waited for our time. Got there 25 minutes early before my scheduled time. Stood in line for 20+ minutes, get to the front- sign the papers- (Now 10 minutes into our time allotted) go to the dock. Wait in line for another 15 minutes- told they gave our jet skis to a walk up group of 7. Cool. They say-“there will be one back soon” Told to go watch the safety video- I do. Wait in line again at the dock for 8 minutes- so I can let them know I was done with the video and Sign more papers- listen to the speech. Told now- they still don’t have one- come back in 20. So I do just that. Cone back in 20- wait in line again.... just to be told I have to go back to the counter and let them know they got “too overzealous” and over booked. Now I I’ve spent over an hour trying to get my reservation. While my birthday party is happening without me and people are excited to go on. Get to the front- ask for my id and card- treated by the front as tho this was my fault. Not apologetic at all. Nothing. I would never rent from here again- nor will the 25 others at my party.

The check in/checkout process is ridiculous. I paid online ahead of time, but still stood in line for 20 mins to get checked in. Then at checkout.... you stand in the SAME LINE with all the other people waiting to check in for another 20 mins just to get your card back! There’s a charge for lockers to store your stuff too, it’s not included in the price which I was surprised about. The actual paddle boarding was fun but they waste so much of your time I won’t be back unless they become more efficient.

Poor customer service in all aspects. Frequently understaffed. Poorly marked where to go for what between renting, checkin, equipment pickup, equipment dropoff, pick back up carbon copy receipt, then back to returns to get credit card and license and wait for 30 minutes.I watched a woman and her child wait 30 minutes to get a 2 person paddle boat. They got down there and waited and the woman said “sorry the last one just went out”. Both the employee and woman were nice about the incident, but then when the employee said you could try the 4 person paddle boat, but it will be harder, the employee said it would cost more and have to go back to the start?!!! Are you kidding me. This was just one incident of many. In fact, every step of the rental was similar. It was clear No one had a sense of urgency, customer service training or culture.

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, STAY AWAY FROM MBSC!! THEY SENT ME AN OFFER TO BUY VOUCHERS FOR CAMPS OFFERING A DISCOUNTED PRICE. I BOUGHT SEVERAL VOUCHERS. LATER THEY DECIDED NOT TO HONOR THE VOUCHER PRICE AND OFFERED A REFUND. AFTER WAITING FOR THE REFUND FOR SEVERAL DAYS, I WROTE 6 EMAILS, NONE OF THEM WAS ANSWERED. I called several times as well, none of the calls were returned. Finally got my refund 35 days later, after numerous calls and threats.IF YOU WANT YOU CALLS RETURNED AND GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE, I SUGGEST TO LOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE!

Had a blast here on a non-May-grey weekday! Stoked to see they opened up after Covid. They were surprisingly busy which we were stoked to see. Scored some paddle boards on a day without too much wind. We got around great!!

We have always had a great experience at the Sportcenter between renting paddle boards, jet skis, or going out on their Catamaran for a friend’s bachelorette party! The crew and staff are always phenomenal and would definitely recommend visiting any of their locations.

Took a date here for paddle boarding. It was a fun little cove and was the quiet side of the bay so we could go into the big bay. Beautiful day with no wind. Stoked.

Front desk staff was unfriendly. Paid for an hour of Fly Board and only did 40 mins. Was told to come early to do paperwork and instructions. We got there 315 did paperwork/instructions and started at 330 which was our time. Ended at 410. Was told it was because it takes 20 mins for instructions. We did jet skiing at other locations. Did paperwork and was able to enjoy the full hour. Paid for Groupon and then was told we had to pay $9 for tax. Thats whatever but would have been nice to be told earlier. Wont be going back to that location.

This was our first experience with this place and it will definitely be our last. The staff was greatly missing communication skills. It was as if none of them were properly trained and they didn’t seem to care. Very unprofessional.

We had such a good time renting Jetskis Friday morning. We came in at 10 am, and were able to ride in the adjacent bay for a while, then went to the far bay after 11 am because of the 5 mph rule for the sailboats. We were almost 15 minutes late because it took longer than expected to get back, but they let it slide for us. Overall really cool experience with good Jetskis.

Tourist trap, boats and paddle boards are very beat up and staff doesn’t seem to care about your experience. We reserved a 22 foot sailboat, they didn’t have it so they put us in a smaller sailboat that had a ripped sail. Manager could care less that we were given a sub par experience.

Excellent place! Staff are super nice and helpful and the watercraft was great. We had a Groupon for an hour and a half for a Waverunner, and we had a great time! We first got on a 2017 green Yamaha EX Waverunner which they just got, but unfortunately it was way to unstable and we wobbled a lot, but we took it back and they were very nice and put us on a 2016 yellow Yamaha V1 Waverunner and it was much better and stable and we got it to 48 MPH.

Horrible costumer service, very unprofessional. after finishing my rental time period arrived just in time to finalize the payment and there was a very long waiting line for returns, only 1 person was doing returns and the rest of the crew just talking between them.and when i finally was my turn it was 25 mins. later and she wanted me to pay the extra time!!

I love renting here. Staff a chill, equipment is well maintained and prices are very reasonable. Take the larger Hobie Cat around Sail Bay on a sunny, windy day. At $35 an hour its an affordable, relaxing afternoon of fun for 4.

Not for touristsJet skiing is pointless here for anything less then an hour. 5mph for 20 mins then 5 mph 20 mins back. That’s if you don’t get lost.Jet skis are two small for two average sized people. Very easily tipped.Oh and if you tip it they charge you a tow fee for $85 then possibly a flood fee for $50 or something. If you suck up seaweed they expect you to go underneath and pull it out or they will charge you a tow fee. They charge in 15 min prorated incriminates when your late. Don’t get lost which they don’t give you a map on purpose.Won’t be back ever again under any circumstance.

The location is in a fairly large 5mph zone which takes 20 minutes to get out of and 20 minutes more to come back through, leaving you 20 minutes of ride time for any motor vehicle if you do a hour. Wish the location was wayyyyyy better or if they offered 15 minutes comped to get out there

This place took over storage for paddle boards from a prior company and lost my paddleboard (valued at ~$1k). They do not check ID for anyone wanting to pick up their boards so someone likely walked up and walked away with it no questions asked. After many phone calls and emails the manager, Zach, finally called me back and said they are not liable for any lost or stolen goods. I understand there is a contract as such, but no remorse or anything was provided. Horrible business would not recommend.

Rented a powerboat and it was totally worth it. Beautiful day and nice staff.

Everyone was really nice here except for the dark haired girl that checked me out. It was my first time using Groupon so I didn’t know I wasn’t suppose to click redeemed after I got my code. She spoke to me like a child “I’m 30 yrs old” and said next time don’t click it, rudely. She seemed real young so I’ll give her a pass but that’s why I have it 4 stars. Other than that I had a great time and will be back!

Rented 6 jet skis and had a blast

We went sailing yesterday on the 22 foot boat. It was a blast! The staff was relaxed and we had a great time in the bay.

I bought a flyboard ticket, called to book a visit, the operator refuses to accept my paid ticket demanding my card and imposing any additional services on me. At the time when I already fully paid for the ticket !!! Why do they ask me for my private information, it is not legal! I can not use my purchased ticket !!! Disgusting service! I do not recommend !!!

We booked for an hour ride and once we got here, we received less than stellar customer service and had to wait for about three hours. Also, one of the guys at the loading zone was drinking! Unbelievable. We had to pay 9 dollars for the gas which we were not told about beforehand. The jet skis were not as new as other places. Overall a really bad experience. Take your business elsewhere.

We were on vacation a few weeks ago and rented a sailboat here. The whole experience was great and the boat was in excellent condition. We will definitely come back next time we are town.

I rented a Hobie Wave for a couple of hours. The staff were friendly, and relaxed about renting equipment out to people without lots of experience. They dont rent wetsuits. They have lockers that you pay for separately and which are a touch costly - $5 for the first two hours. The location is great with quite a bit of water to sail around.

Something is definitely off with the management here. We came in as a big group on 8/11/2019 and the front desk receptionist was very misleading. I understand that 9 jet skis is tough to arrange but keep in mind that we were told Groupon holders can’t make reservations so we had no choice but to walk in. The front desk kept us on the side line saying our jet skis were going to be available in 1 hour. After that hour passed we were told that the jet skiis aren’t back yet so we waited a few more hours. The other half of our group decided to called it quits. If you found this place on Groupon GO SOMEWHERE ELSE because they have 0 respect for voucher holders. Last, but certainly not least if you’re renting for 1 hour expect about 35 minutes in an enforced 5 mph zone. - a Very disappointed camper.

I rented a 25’ pontoon boat for 16 people. Only 12 could sit down in seats and others had to seat on the floor. The boat also did not shift well and we were sitting in the water for minutes at a time playing with the accelator shifter. The doors won’t stay closed, the radio, horn, cb didn’t work at all . So check your boat before going out. Fun but sucks when you can’t go into forward or reverse.

We rented a c16.5 sailboat, enough for four people. Excellent service and staff. Easy rental experience. I highly recommend it!!

I visited for the nighttime paddle board class and had a really good time. Haven’t used them for any of the daytime activities/rentals so can’t speak to what MBSC is most used for.

Lots of equipment to rent and well maintained! Received lots of help from Andrew. We had a great time! Plan to cone back often.

I am the group leader of ten who suggested to the crew that we spend our holiday at mission bay sports center. After hard convincing we finally came to an agreement that it would be a spot that will be well worth it. Our host Mandy stated that we would have to wait 60-90 minutes and so we did. When the time finally came 90 minutes later, she had to give us more bad news. She said only 5 jet ski’s were available out of the nine that we ordered and that we would need to wait an additional fifteen minutes for the remaining jet skis to be available. That fifteen minutes turned into an hour. When our time finally came the guys that were supposed to lead us to our skis vanished which caused another employee to help us out. By this time it has been approximately four hours since arriving at two o’clock. This has caused us disappointment because the weather changed. It was late. We decided not to go anymore and took off our life jackets frustrated and returned to the office. We kindly asked the employee for a compensation because of the inconvenience this has caused us. She didn’t care! I was dissapointed because of her reaction to our situation. “We can make a reservation for you next time”. That was her best effort in customer service. I hope you undestand how my holiday was ruined.

Doesn’t open until 10am but it says online they open at 9am. Worker was rude and wouldn’t help me until 10am despite sitting around doing nothing. Workers were just sitting there talking with each other. They also opened late making me wait even longer. Not coming back.

Such a fantastical fantastic time

Wont be coming back here. Their miscommunication between their employees caused to me to not only lose time on the Jet Skis that I had already prepaid for, but they also tried to charge me for extra time that i never used. If I would have never caught the time difference that they said I went over, they would have made me pay much more. On top of that, they never tried to make up for the inconvenience. Worst place ever.

The staff was friendly and helpful. We went on a busy Sunday and the parking was nearly impossible. Zach said he would get us from wherever we found parking and get us back to MBSports! It was great. We had a group of 20 and rented paddle boards, kayaks and jet skiis. We will definitely be back again! Fun bay, calm, good place for boards and sailing.

Very disappointed me and my friends we booked 9 jet ski and when we came to this place the girl who suppose to help us said there’s no jet ski available at this time later on she provided 5 jets ski instead of 9 this place ruined our holiday I won’t suggest anyone to this place . The management they better make a change .

Ive experienced lots of fun water activities here and have always had a good time. Weve done the hot tub boat and I recently did SUP for the first time and jet skied. The stand up paddle boarding is $14/hr. unless you have a whole day deal that my friend and I did. Mine had actually expired, but I got to apply the credit and then they pro rate every 15 minutes if you go over time, which is great. I thought SUP would be harder than it was. I wasnt great at it, but I stood up and didnt fall. We ended up staying out almost 2 1/2 hours. I think Im going to try the SUP yoga next.My fiance surprised me for my birthday by renting jet skis so we could cruise along the bay. They were super busy that day (probably because of the heat!) and I felt bad for the lone guy running the show down by the dock. He was a pro though and super friendly and apologetic as we waited. Poor guy even had to jump in the water when some dumb dumb on a pontoon made him throw a life vest that the guy on the boat didnt even bother to extend an arm to catch.The only drawback to this location is the parking. During the week during the day you should be ok, but every other time the parking is going to be a pain. Plan accordingly.

I was unfairly assessed a damage fee of $340, and wasnt shown proof of the damage. On top of that, I was charged twice for the same reservation. Ive called the establishment multiple times to discuss the ordeal, and I keep being told the manager will call me back, but still havent received a call back. Will NEVER give them my business again.

I was so disappointed today I went to the Mission Bay sport they give Bed jeskie I wasnt enjoy it I been 30 minutes on the jeskie and I came back because was Flipped in the water no No balance control in the jeskie and I return it they charge me $95 for 30 minutes I was so disappointed

Came here last weekend with my family and had the best time ever! It was the first nice weekend of year so parking was awful, make sure you plan ahead and give yourself lots of time. Despite the other impatient customers in line the staff was all smiles and super helpful, they even gave us extra time to get down to the water!

Rented a sail boat a few times here. Its hilarious they dont even ask if you know what youre doing you just hop in and they push you out into the water and say have fun. Great sailing in the bay for decent prices! Great for when you have visitors in town that want a san diego beach day with more than laying around.

Ive been renting here for three years. This weekend was the straw that broke the camels back. There is not one (nor has there ever been) sailboat I have rented from this place that does not have rigging issues. After many failed attempts at having a good time on one Im throwing in the towel. I cant even say its worth the money, *great prices* but the sailboat rigging and sails are worse than boats Ive seen getting crushed. In comparison to the other places I rent boats, MBSC is below par. I hope the owner has a chance to read this and maybe do something about the condition of the sailboats (mainly Catalina and Capri).Update: Apparently things have gotten better down there with the boats and a new dock. I might go check it out and change my review to be more positive :)

I rented a seadoo and it was junk. The reverse did not work, the top speed was 36mph (should be 60-65) for the size of the engine, the trim was stuck all of the way down, the nose was smashed up and had tape on it to keep the fiberglass from cutting people. Id give them 1 star but the guy who helped us at the dock was awesome. we informed the management at the front desk. the first response was 36mph is normal (no way!!!) then she said what, do you want us to take money off? that response upset me which is what has provoked me to write this. I paid full price and swallowed it
